Re: [MBZ] Wasted oil change

2017-11-01 Thread Dan--- via Mercedes
Not really. Like any maintenance program, you've got to be committed to
entering the data. For things like fuel, since it's on my phone I just do it
when I fuel the car - easy. For maintenance items, I do it after I've done the
work.

If it's a repetitive operation, such as an oil and filter change, you can set
them up for repeats with reminders based on either mileage or time, or both.

With multiple cars as I have, if an operation is already in the database, when
you go to put a new instance in the program will attempt to replicate it if you
like, even if it was same thing you did only on a different car.

It will dump records to a .csv (MS Excel) if you like as well.

And the other choice is ... Apple. NO THANK YOU. At least with
Android I have a file system, some choices on how I use it, and
the OS developer isn't actively trying to prevent anyone from
trying to do something outside of their jail cell.

So I use Android and even without rooting the phone it's possible
to limit - but not eliminate - how much is collected.

What's the point of using apps that don't harvest your information, if you're
using Google Andriod as your OS? Isn't Google the leading harvester?

Same here, but I could never find anything. Gas Buddy tried to branch out into
this by absorbing a nice iOS app that I used to use. They completely dumbed it
down and made it a web app, but they also harvested your personal information,
so that was a big negative.

Unfortunately, no. It uses Dropbox for storing the data and synchronization.
I really like that aspect of it as I can enter my data on one device and the
others are automatically updated.

The developer is great and very helpful. He converted a boatload of records I
had from Gas Buddy over for me when I signed up.
