Re: [MBZ] the 300E has been sold
That T-bird had bucket seats with a big console between. He removed the console and operated the pedals with left foot and steered with left hand while sitting in right seat. Same procedure was used by most of the rural mail men (and women). Lots of gravel roads - always at least two spares in trunk! No cell phones in those days (early 80's) so if you ran out of spares, had to knock on someone's door and ask to use the phone, which was probably a party line. -Max -Original Message- From: mercedes-boun...@okiebenz.com [mailto:mercedes-boun...@okiebenz.com] On Behalf Of Alex Chamberlain Sent: Monday, July 19, 2010 3:13 PM To: Mercedes Discussion List Subject: Re: [MBZ] the 300E has been sold On Mon, Jul 19, 2010 at 12:07 PM, Dillon, Meade M CIV SPAWARSYSCEN-ATLANTIC, 53310 meade.m.dil...@navy.mil wrote: When I was young, many of our family cars were sold to local junk yard, and I'd stop by to pay respects when looking for parts. Sell it locally? I always thought it sad when i'd sell a car in town and then see it periodically (my '63 Falcon for example). Sold to a couple in Jefferson who will be passing it along to their son in Ames, who will supposedly reimburse them. I had a very nice stack of hundred dollar bills counted out to me in the garage over the lunch hour -- that is all I care about. I have the cash, they have the 300E and the title, and my bill of sale said as is, no implied warranty etc. Considering what I spent on the Quantum and the 300E (purchase and repairs), I am somewhere breaking even and a $250 profit. Sale of the 300E covered about 50% purchase price for the '98 LeSabre. D. On Mon, Jul 19, 2010 at 6:36 PM, Kaleb C. Striplin ka...@striplin.netwrote: so who bought it? What was the price?
