Re: [meteorite-list] Munich Show----book
Merry Christmas everybody! Now for the bad news: going strictly in the order your emails came in my in-box, I can say that the Munich Book sold out late last night. Sorry. However I know that the Munich Show does send a representative to the Tucson show, so I will ask if that person could bring a few books with him. More later I hope. And Thank you everybody for the enthusiastic response. Anne M. [meteorite-list] Munich show book (Meteorites) report
Hello Fred, thank you very much for your enthusiastic report about our Munich Show book. Since I have written seven articles (about 50 pages) and have edited the wohle meteorite part of this book, I'd like to make some additions, especially four our collector friends in the US. The 2014 Munich Show book METEORITES will be available at the Tucson Show 2015 at several booths. For those who don't want so long, maybe a collective order from the Munich Show web site https://munichshow.com/en/shop/the-show-catalogues/ is a good clue. The shipping costs for SINGLE book orders are very hight - but if more than ten copies are ordered, the shipping is totally free of charge (worldwide)! https://munichshow.com/en/shop/shipping-information/ Enjoy reading! Re: [meteorite-list] Munich show book (Meteorites) report
Thank you Martin for the recommendation. And thank you for all of you who asked for a book. We have the minimum 10 already. Now for the cost as some of you have asked. If you were to order just one it would cost you 28 euros plus 36 euros for shipping, so 64 euros, or $80 to $85 depending on the exchange rate. So I would like to ask you all for $45 per book plus whatever the postage will be from me to you. Is that acceptable? Do let me know as soon as possible. Thanks you. Anne M. Re: [meteorite-list] Munich show book (Meteorites) report
I have to concur with Martin that this publication is top notch, from the content of the well written articles to the photographs, to the printing, paper and binding (I was in the printing industry in another lifetime). It is highly recommended and well worth the price to find a home in your meteorite library. Its also a bit less expensive than traveling to Munich for the actual show, but Im not scratching that off my bucket list. gary On Nov 5, 2014, at 8:44 AM, Martin Goff via Meteorite-list meteorite-list@meteoritecentral.com wrote: Hi all, This book cones highly recommended. Re: [meteorite-list] Munich show book (Meteorites) report
Hello again, A List Member pointed out to me that the cost of the book is 28 euros, and that translates to $35, and then asked why I was asking for $45 for that book. Yes, 28 euros does translate to $35, however we all know that Paypal will not translate it quite to that, they will add a fee, and then most of you will be paying by Paypal, another fee, and I need to get a lot of padded envelopes so those books do not get damage in the mail. And that is not counting my time packing all that and all the trips to the Post Office. So I don't mind being helpful, and I do want a copy for myself, but really I would rather not lose any money on that deal. [meteorite-list] Munich Mineral Show 2013/ Friday Evening Party
Hi list, I´d like to inform all meteorite enthusiasts visiting the Munich Mineral Show 2013 on the annual Friday Evening Party scheduled Friday, 25 th October 2013. The event will be held at the traditional Bavarian restaurant: Altes Hackerhaus, Sendlinger Straße 14, 80331 Munich. The gathering will start at 7 p.m. The location is simple to reach: Coming from the Mineral show enter the subway line U2 at the mineral fair heading to Feldmoching. Disembark at the station Sendlinger Tor, take the exit to Sendlinger Straße and follow the Sendlinger street 5 minutes walking. Soon, on your left side, you´ll find the Hackerhaus. There you ask for the meteorite friends. This is one of the best old Bavarian locations for typical Bavarian food and beer in top quality. The famous Hacker-Pschorr dark beer comes from wooden barrels. I am sure, you´ll like it. For more information visit www.hackerhaus.de. It would be a pleasure to meet all the familiar and yet unfamiliar meteorite enthusiasts there. Please inform me in advance, should you plan to attend, so I can make reservations accordingly (e-mail: ra (at) koppelt.com). If we will become a sufficiently large group, I´ll be able to get a nice exclusive room. Re: [meteorite-list] Munich Show Photos
Thanks for sharing, Marcin. I wonder how many of our American friends could easily identify most (or all) of the guys in the group photo at the top of the line of pics. Some well-known people, collectors/dealers/scientists, from Europe here concentrated right on the spot. There will be hardly anyone out there on this list who really does not know who that guy from the U.S. is, in about the middle of the top row? Do I see any fingers up..?? :-) Nice, representative pics! I especially like the closeups of the Kraehenberg meteorite from Germany, a famous historical and very nicely oriented stone, with just a few grams from likely only very few earlier cuts in private collections. You can find them here: http://web.tiscali.it/francesco.moser/A5.jpg http://web.tiscali.it/francesco.moser/A6.jpg I went to this web-site and I'm looked for meteorite in each one of the 4 halls. http://mineralientage.de/en/the-munich-show/public-days/exhibitordirectory/ Other years there were meteorite dealers in all 4 halls, in 2011 the search engine finds matches only in Hall-A5 and Hall-A6, so I post to you just the maps of these two halls! Re: [meteorite-list] Munich Show 2010 - Photos
Aloha Hanno, Many thanks for publishing your fine photographs of the Munich Show. For me, and perhaps many others as well on this metlist, seeing the meteorites on display are very cool, but better yet are the opportunity to see many friends with whom I have only a written correspondence. Its certainly nice to be able to connect a face with a name, and maybe I'll be able to attend next year to meet them all in person. In the meantime, there are 92 days before the Tucson Gem Mineral show beings. Let the countdown commence. gary On Nov 2, 2010, at 1:22 PM, Hanno Strufe wrote: Hello, here are my photos from the Munich Show last weekend. I will be in Munich for the entire show, not selling much, perhaps an item or two with Moritz Karl's table. [meteorite-list] Munich Show 2008 Friday Evening at Fliegerbrau
Good Day List, The days get shorter, the winds colder and it smells like Munich Show! And of course also this year the fair can't be without the traditional, meteoritical Friday-get-together at the Fliegerbraeu after the show. Same procedure: Friday evening, October 31, from 8p.m. on. Address is in nearby Feldkirchen. Fliegerbräu Sonnenstr. 2 85622 Feldkirchen Tel. 0 89/9 03 60 32 http://www.fliegerbraeu.de Here you find a map, how to get from the fair ground there. Starting from the main entrance/exit East, where the show halls for the mineral fair are located. http://kuerzer.de/Fleagerbroy It seems that the menu is different now, so maybe we're lucky and the chef has changed too... Anyway, the beer is good, after all those years the meteorite people know, where it is, and most seem to like it, right? Of course it would be nice, if you'd let me know, if you plan to take part in, cause in past there were always to few places in the beginning. And here are the general show information: http://www.mineralientage.de/?lang=en For any questions, feel free to contact me. Chladni's Heirs you'll find in the middle hall A5, booth A5.633 and I'm glad to announce, that Stefan already will take be back again. You have to purchase a lot from him, that was the recommendation of the doctors. Regarding the meeting point of the meteorite aficionados on the show, Friday, Saturday, Sunday - I heard, that Erich won't have a table this year. (I hope nothing serious, cause as long I'm able to think, he was selling at the Munich Show), so we have to find a new point. Looking forward to see you all soon - who will be in Munich? [meteorite-list] Munich news
Hi everyone, I have been unable to post to the list for nearly 10 day but it seems to be fixed now. I was in Munich for the whole show, and must say, there was not much new around. Of course Carancas and Mali made a big splash. It was confusing which was Bassikounou and which was Mali, but close inspection usually was easy, and most of the mali was a little more grey. Broken pieces are much easier to identify. I think some Moroccans are playing hanky-panky, trying to get rid of Bassi stock. I only bought a few grams of tiny complete stones, the price was too high for me here, between 1.5 and 4 Euros per gram, change that to dollars, and that is too expensive for me as a reseller. Now that all Moroccans are retailers, we will see what will happen. The weather was wonderful of you are from Tucson, nice crisp cold mornings and cool afternoons, very different from my home, which I love. We all had fun, I appreciated chatting with my European friends, and telling stories about Cali and Carancas and La Mancha. The shows are a great time to catch up on news. Anyway, I will be going home tomorrow and then preparing for the Tokyo show in barely one month! Never enough time I am hoping that a new fall will take a little time now, and give me some work time at home. [meteorite-list] Munich show 2007
Hello Munich was very interesting this year. Two new spectacular falls in one place. Thats what I like. Mali fall was well represented on many tables from tiny complete specimens to large regmaglypted stones. Morocans show each fall on different box, so there was no problem with mixing both falls together. Both falls have similar crust but very different interior. Ofcourse everything depends of the size of specimens and how fresh they are etc. Carancas specimens was incredible. It really SMELL very strange. Its fragile like dust, so every touch produces new tiny fragments. I belive its becouse of high shock while meteor hit ground. Another surprize was that I have found 90% complete, crusted specimen. I belived its impossible as this meteorite was sooo large. Will show it soon. [meteorite-list] Munich Show 2007 Friday Evening at Fliegerbrau
Good Day List, impatiently asked by those, who can't await it anymore: Yes, also this year there will be the Friday-get-together with beer more beer (also with non-alcoholic beer for our friends from Maghreb) at the Fliegerbraeu after the show. As always Friday evening, November 2, from 8p.m. on. Address is in nearby Feldkirchen. Fliegerbräu Sonnenstr. 2 85622 Feldkirchen Tel. 0 89/9 03 60 32 www.fliegerbraeu.de Here you find a map, how to get from the fair ground there. Starting from the main entrance/exit East, where the show halls for the mineral fair are located. http://kuerzer.de/Fleagerbroy (because of my German IP, the map legend of the google-maps-thing is displayed in German, I hope for you in English then...) I was thinking about finding a better place, cause those Fliegerbraeu-guys are somewhat strange and non-professional, but didn't manage to find a suitable restaurant so close to the fair. Anyway, the beer is good, after all those years the meteorite people know, where it is, and most seem to like it, right? And more than the ambience, the fun and the people are important. Each year more meteorite people took part, and I gave up to ask, who will join, as each time more than twice as much, as confirmed, came, sometimes causing some narrowness. Though nice it would be, if you could let me know, whether you'll join, so that I could add on more places, in case. Please also don't forget to pay your food and drinks there before leaving, Chladni's Heirs are successful, but not so successful yet, that we could invite you all.. For those, who have their hotels in inner city, and don't want to drive: Fliegerbräu is easy accessible from the city center by public transportation. (It is safe, also at night). For any questions, feel free to contact me. Let me see... Pictures of the shows/Friday Eves of the last years, you'll find on Hanno's page: http://www.strufe.net/English/english.htm More show pictures at Peter's place: http://www.marmet-meteorites.com/id21.html Show info: http://www.mineralientage.de/?lang=en They improved their website with some helpful features. Booth number is A4.616 Therefore this year it won't be difficult to spot a meeting-point at the show, last year was a little collision, whether at Erich's or at Pani or at Chladni's, cause this year Erich's and our booths are in the same row, with only 3 tables in-between. A hint for those coming by car, approaching from West and South: Use the beltway A99 to get to the fairground, even if you have to circumnavigate whole town. Many were desperate, that they stuck in traffic for half a day, when they tried to cross Munich. Peter tried it last year the A99 and was happy. Hotel situation seems to be more relaxed than the year before. I even found still rooms in the somewhat spartan Ibis close to the show at 69Euro for a double. (Not suitable, if you're coming with your wife/husband, who is fed up with your boring stone - there better book a hotel in city center). Hotel rates in Munich: 45-55Euro/night is very cheap, 55-80 cheap, 80-130 normal. Into the telephone pool I'm throwing Stefan's cell phone number, (until the show I will have to buy one, oh modern times, my first one, number later). 0176-20035983 But for any Munich question, it's m province, so don't call him now! [meteorite-list] Munich show notes.
Well, I am home after a hectic week in Germany. The show was not as good as usual, for one, they moved the show to the opposite halls, so it was quite confusing for everyone trying to find dealers stands. Meteorite-wise, it was the worst show I have ever seen in Munich. Moritz Karl had amazing pieces of historic falls. Erich Haiderer had his usual eclectic mix of goodies and moon rocks mixed in the same boxes with chondrites and crystals, it is like a thrift shop! Chladni's Heirs had a nice display, their first. Many beautifully prepared specimens and their new lunar meteorites! Not bad. Ali Hmani has very few meteorites this year, but one in particular cuaght my eye! More on that one as soon as it arrives in Tucson, it was a tad too heavy to carry home in my baggage. Dean was there, with some nice pieces to my surprise! Gibeon was non-existant! There was maybe 5 pieces there in total. Sikhote-Alin again, was virtually non-existent. Hans Koser had an even split between Campos and Muonionalusta, one of which weighed over 230 kilograms and sold to a Swedish museum! Anyway, it was a good time, and I hope to attend again next year. Well, everybody spent the day yesterday setting up or getting first crack at other dealers stock. The warm shorts weather wednesday turned into snow and warm winter jacket weather yesterday. I have never seen munich's tourist walking area so devoid of life. There were even lots of tables free at hofbraehaus last night - although only 5 people showed up for the meteorite getogether. Hopefully the cold weather will drag everybody out to the show this weekend. Its zero degrees and snowing in munich so people wont be outside any more than necessary. I will get everybody some photos of the dealers later today. Most of the main dealers are there including tons of moroccans although most moroccan dealers that I have seen so far have very few meteorites and mostly fossils. Lots of cool crockadile heads this year - more than normal. I will take a better look around today. I have been trying to put 3 or 4 sales together for those unable to attend but I have been so busy setting up and other things that I just havent had time. Got some diogenite at $10 a gram if anybody is interested and low grade meteorites at $39.95 a kilo. I have 3 or 4 hundred kilos of new unsorted stuff for people to pik over some priced as low as 5 cents a gram to pik and nice stuff at 25 cents to pik so I think my table will be the treasure hunt place this year. http://www.meteoriteshop.com/munich06/munich06.html Cheers DEAN We have the perfect Group for you. Hiho, Munich show is near!! First of all, if you get lost in Munich ect. here is the cell phone number, whith that you always find a Chladni's Heir. (Andi Gren): 0174-2587541 (dunno, how this roaming thing works, with preselection for Germany it's ++49-1742587541) Some of us will meet already Thursday evening in the famous Hofbraeuhaus. Not at a fix hour, cause one never knows, some have to set up their tables ect.. but who will miss a Mike Farmer, a Dean Bessey...you know them from pictures :-) It's in the very city center, easy to find. Go to the town hall (or by metro station Marienplatz). Enter the street on the right side along the town hall, second street right until the end, there it is. Anyway, each Munich inhabitant is asked at least time times per year Can you tell me the way to the Hofbräuhaus? - don't wonder if they only answer yes and say nothing for a while, it's their kind of humour. Food is bad, I guess worse than in the Bratwursthaus in Tucson, but the beer is good (HB from the state's brewery). For Friday Eve, it would be nice, if those, who want to join, but haven't told me yet, would do so. Until now, collectors, hunters, dealers from 13 nations will come. How to get there...just attach yourself to those, who know it from last year, ask me on the show (stall B1.643) or call the number! See you all soon! [meteorite-list] Munich notes
Hi everyone, After a hectic two days of perusing the massive Munich show, it is finally over, and I will be on my way home tomorrow with a stop in Paris. The weather here has been incredible, over 70 degrees and not a cloud in the sky the last two days! Very abnormal for Germany at the end of October. The show was interesting, a lot of people who usually set up were not here. Some things of note, the Moroccans has virtually NO meteorites, compared to last year, there was like 10% what they used to have. Also there was a lot of the ´Fuking` Pallasite from China. It was being offered at less than 10Euros a gram in large chunks, I saw pieces from 100 grams to 2 kilos. Apparently the buyers have divided the massive pallasite up and are now going to flood the market. Looks like a good buying opportunity when the price collapses. It is beautiful stuff, but with over 900 kilos, coming on the market, we know where this goes. There were ZERO large gibeons or Sikhotes, except a couple at Erich Haiderer´s always full table. Moritz again had the best display of rare material, with Martian, Lunar, Pallasite, and nice irons from Aussie museum trades. Hans had the usual rally nice Campos, and Karl Sprich many nice Gibeon pieces cut into spheres and cubes. Moldavites are everywhere. I may have broken a planetary record in Morocco, so get your pennies rolled and wait for the news. A new Dhofar-Ureilite... Thanks a lot Martin, If that is the new Dhofar AURE that I have recently purchased a thin section of from Ivan Koutyrev, I can tell you it is one of the most colorful, most fascinating ureilites I have ever seen. Alex who will also be with the gang in Munich soon can attest to this statement as I sent him a digital JPEG of that colorful, stunning cascade of weakly shocked olivines and pyroxenes of that achondrite. It also displays numerous triple junctions and the carbonaceous stuff seems to be concentrated in a thin interstitial lining in the areas sur- rounding the olivines and pyroxenes. B e a u t i f u l ! BTW, Ivan still has several of these thin sections available on Bay! Beautiful crystals of twinned pyroxenes, pigeonite and augite crystals! Re: [meteorite-list] Munich
Hi Francesco, list, thanks for the work. Some remarks: During the last years many mineral dealers found out, that meteorites are an attraction, hence they give it in their assortment in the exhibitors' list, although many of them have perhaps only a handfull of lousy indochinites or a dozen Canyon Diablo micros. On the other hand, there are much more specialists, who aren't listed among the exhibitors. Main reason is, that the table prices are horrendous, something around 3000$ minimum, so that they share stalls with other dealers or take some meters as sublessees. For instance you won't find listed Mike Farmer, Gregor Pacer, Andi Gren, Andreev, Pellerin (- Allan Lang, E.T. et.al. will come too, dunno whether as visitors only) and so on. If you plan to spend only a few hours on the fair, then concentrate on the second and third hall, in all the years before almost no meteorites (or good deals) weren't found in the first one. This year the organisators missed to set plans of each hall online (don't know whether the numeration of the stalls will be the same as last year). A little hint: on the information desks at the front ends of each hall sheets with plans for take away were to be found (please be fair and take only one each, they were gone quickly) as well as a booklet with the exhinbitor's list for free. Both very helpful to make your notes and to avoid superfluent running around. Someone (like me) can collect all the post and write a doc file with the real meteorites exhibitors list. So we can know easly where we can found somebody. Is to late for do this work this year??? Yep Francesco, would be great, if you could do so. (Perhaps also to check out this year, who of those claiming to have meteorites too in their assortments, really do have some). I fear this year it's to late as many are already on the way to the show. But next year. An addition I have to make. Mike Farmer will be not before Saturday on the show and Serge Afanasjev (cometshop) can't come because of an unexpected reason. Carsten Capot Rey Giessler, whom several were eager to get to know, neither. Buckleboo! [meteorite-list] MUNICH - FRIDAY, How to get there hints
Hello list, just back from a internetless (sorry) 3 weeks' trip, I found several mails, asking, how to get to the Friday evening cometogether. First of all, no panic, I'll be there on the show already on Thursday, trying to shake hands with everyone (and perhaps dristibuting plans, how tofind it) and anyway last year more or less all, who wanted to come, met after the show to share cars and cabs to get there. As some regrettably sent a revocation and as I learned from last year, there will be enough places left also for those, who want to join in last minute (just give me a note). Lazy or buzy as I am, I'll recycle my last year's mails from the archives and, Sergej, you're great, even the maps you set online still exists under their old addresses. Let's see, what I have to modify. So on Friday we meet after the show in the Fliegerbräu. A minute brewery with Bavarian and other food and no umpah music. It's in the nearby village Feldkirchen. (Were also some of you have their hotels). The address is: Flieger Bräu Sonnenstrasse 2 85622 Feldkirchen http://www.fliegerbraeu.de/ (pronounced: fleagerbroy) Marked with the red 1 in the plans. http://sv-meteorites.jodoshared.com/plan1.jpg and http://sv-meteorites.jodoshared.com/plan2.jpg As all what I try to mark dissapeared, when I changed it to pdf, some orientation: Plan1: The fair areal is the large rounded, orange blob to the left, rimmed by the streets named: Paul-Henri-Spaak-Str. / De-Gasperi-Bogen / Willi-Brandt-Allee. Most parking places are to the East - there inside De-Gasperi-Bogen and to the North, below Paul-Henri-Spaak. So just exit and go East (right) - there is no other road. The bus terminal and the subway station is there were the vertical road, which divides the areal is meeting De-Gasperi-Bogen. Plan2: The bus stop will be there on Münchner Strasse, somewhere between Eschenstrasse to the right and the yellow road. Or you may go a station further, it's on top at the brown train symbol (there stops the suburbian, if you will come from town) and walk down Sonnenstrasse - it's equidistant. I reserved places from 18:30hrs on (show ends always at 18:00 for visitors) and I will be there somewhat earlier. Until now there are on my list: 1 Afanasjev team member (http://www.meteorites21.com/), Martin Me (www.meteorite-martin.de), Razvan Andrei wive, Christian Anger ( http://www.austromet.com), Uwe Arendt friends, Matthias Bärmann, YvonneJan Bartels ( http://www.heavenlybodies.nl/), MomDean Bessey (uuh which www?), Svend Buhl ( http://www.niger-meteorite-recon.de/ ), Morten Bilet, Bruno Fectay Carine Bidaut ( http://www.meteorite.fr/ ), Marcin Cimala (www.polandmet.com), Norbet Classen (http://www.timewarp.de/lunar/lunar.htm), Manfred Dannapfel, Slawomir Derecki (http://www.derecki.art.pl ), Joshua Eisler (http://www.cosmiccutlery.com), Olaf Gabel (www.gabelbart.de), Carsten GiesslerClaudia Poloczek (www.gi-po.de), Andi Hulk Starrockers Gren (www.meteoritenhaus.de), Siegfried Haberer (www.haberer-meteorite.de), ErichSylvia Haiderer (http://www.meteorite.com/Erichs/catalog_english.htm ), Mauro Ianeselli, Marc Jost Madelaine, Kachalin wife, HeikeNorbert Kammel (www.rocksonfire.com), the Karls and team (http://sv-meteorites.jodoshared.com/default.asp), Hans Koser, Allan Lang wife (http://www.nyrockman.com/), Peter Marmet (http://www.marmet-meteorites.com/), Kasimierz Mazurek, M.A.Mennes, Francesco Moser (http://web.tiscali.it/francesco.moser/), Gregor Pacer, Vince Pellerinwife, Stefan Ralewwife (http://www.sr-meteorites.de), Harald Stehlik, Hanno Strufe (http://www.strufe.net/), Edwin Thompsonsister, Sigrid Wengert and many more (as probably the Hmanis, Tomerelli, perhaps again The man.). So it will be nice. How to get there: By car: I marked the route in plan1 but it dissapears, whenever I try to save it..wuaah. There are two possibilities to exit the parking places. Here a map of the fair areal. Click on the right plan on bottom. http://www.mineralientage.de/1_MM_start/2_Welcome_E/3_01_E_Besucherservice/4_01_2_E_Anfahrt/4_01_2_E_Anfahrt.php If you leave to the North: Just turn to your right and follow the street. (Paul-Henri-Spaak-Str.) After ca. 1km you will cross the large highway and after 300m more you will enter the village Feldkirchen (yellow traffic sign). Carry on. After 1km, on the left there branches off the Sonnenstrasse. Directly there we are. It's just behind a yellow hotel, called Zur Sonne. If you leave the parking places to the South: Just turn to the left, follow the street (De-Gaspari-Bogen), which makes a bow. Turn into first possible road to the right, then like above. By bus: At the fair exit Messestadt Ost, at the subway station, there is the bus station. Take Bus N° 228 direction Ismaning. Exit the bus at the third station: Feldkirchen Münchner Straße. (takes 5 minutes). Cross the street, follow the street, it's the main street of the village. The fifth street, to the left, called

[meteorite-list] Munich Show 2005 and the evening at the Fliegerbrau
Dear members, like last year, we will meet again at the Fliegerbräu after the first show evening on Friday October 28, 2005 Last year we had this event for the first time. Although it was more than a success, we had too less place for all. That was due to the circumstance, that most of all did not tell us that they will be at the meeting too. Only some people did, Martin Altman reserved a room for 30 people, and then there came more than 40 people. So we had the problem not to have enough tables for all and many had to leave or look for some other locality. This year we will do this evening again and we need to know who will be there to avaoid problems like last years. Everyone, dealer or collector, who will be at the meeting again please contact Martin Altmann at [EMAIL PROTECTED] The deadline for registration is at the end of this week, that means on Friday, Sept. 16 Further details later on (time, address etc) Hope to see a lot of you there again, Christian IMCA #2673 www.austromet.com Christian Anger Korngasse 6 2405 Bad Deutsch-Altenburg AUSTRIA email: [EMAIL PROTECTED] __ Meteorite-list mailing list Meteorite-list@meteoritecentral.com http://six.pairlist.net/mailman/listinfo/meteorite-list
