description of script i planned to contribute: pod2xml-0.1.pl

this script is for converting pod-dokumentation into a valid xml 1.0
stream. i programmed this for building up a dokumentation server, based on a
xml-server

in our company we decided to set up a dokumentationserver for our new
perl-projekt. the problem we had was, that we programmed lots of modules and
scripts for this projekt, but there's no way to store all the dokumentation of
the modules and scripts in our database. so i decided to make a small script
like pod2html to convert the embedded dokumentation into a valid simple
xml-stream.
in future versions i planned to add schema support for different
xml-server like tamino, support for escape sequences and a configurationpart, so that
you can easier set up the output.

please remember, that the from:adress of this mail is wrong, fake,
whatever you want. please use the adress, provided in the emailtext.

thank you

renaming

2000-02-22 Thread Joshua N Pritikin

Hi!

I'd like to rename

  NetServer::ProcessTop
to
  NetServer::Portal

to reflect greater generality. I plan to make the 'top' screen only one
of many different screens and to allow for the addition of new screens
by other extensions.

is there a module for ISAM

2000-02-22 Thread Ian Harisay

I've been looking for a module so that I can use Perl to go against an
ISAM database.  Does one exist.

Thanks,

Ian Harisay

 Any chance Chris has thought about changing his module's name
 to MP3::Info?

I am not sure if MP3:: is a great base name. What about AIFF::, MOV::,
WAV::, etc.?

Maybe Audio::MP3::Info ... ? I am not keen on changing the name, but I
wouldn't mind if it were a good name. :) I dunno. Orwant, are any of us
treading down the path to hell here? :D

I'd prefer MPEG:: to Audio::MP3:: because of the name length issues.

 Tim,

 How exactly can I get listed at CPAN for this module?

I've CC'd this to [EMAIL PROTECTED] That should be enough to get you
"listed" in the Module List (eventually, Andreas seems to have been
very busy lately).

For the upload itself... just go ahead and do it. Follow the
instructions on CPAN for getting a PAUSE account and doing the upload.

 I have recently started revisiting this module. We recently hired some new
 people here and I have been preoccupied with training them. That is trailing
 off, and I need to expand upon that module now anyway.

Great.

Tim.

We are. But I'd be happy on the road with the AudioMP3:: signpost.
The AudioWAV:: etc names would also be fine by me.

Tim.

I think MP3:: is the best name. It doesn't score well on the Ontology
axis, but its stratospheric scores on the Brevity and Mindshare axes
more than compensate.

Yeah, that's what I was sorta thinking. I just hate to screw with that
damned ontology axis. But I see three votes for MP3::, so I would not be
opposed to changing MPEG::MP3Info to MP3::Info. Please advise me on how
this should be handled; it is a fairly well-used module, and such a change
will surely cause confusion and pain.
