2005-03-06 Thread Joe Bonelli
Hi, JR, Sean et.al
This guy's probably a smug twenty-something (you other twenty-somethings on
this list
know I do not refer to any of YOU!) who is a computer geek on the side or works
in marketing. Since the return to office of HRH Gorge II, they really DO
believe they can fool all of the people, etc...

I just delete his posts automatically. The junk he pushes is just that.

This comment made me think...how many people actually get in touch with a
seller if they come across something which they believe is significantly
underpriced...or do you just snap it up and reap the rewards???

Just curious,

[MOPO] Pathetic Digital Images

2005-03-06 Thread Evan Zweifel

I took some of the worst digital photos of a few lobbies that I need to
sell to finance a minor house project. Before I go and re-take the
photos and list these on eBay or MoPoBid, I figured that I'd run them
by you all.

Anyway, heres the list, drop me an email if you are at all
interested. If they are grossly overpriced (or underpriced), let me
know and I will adjust!

Thanks,

Evan

Sean,

I with you on this guy... he never contributes any discussion to MOPO, but
he's in here constantly slinging misleading advertising messages. He's not the
only one who just sends ads and nothing else, of course, but he is the only one
who regularly posts deliberately  misstated "come ons" for his goods. You
have to wonder out loud: "Is this guy fooling anybody but himself? If he tricks
someone into looking at one of his items with a bogus headline, does he think
they will be so amused that they will buy his item instead of the one they
thought they would be looking at?"

He seems to come from the PR school that says there is no such thing as bad
PR (or bad advertising). I wonder how many people besides myself have put him
on their list of someone they will never buy from just because of
this kind of cheesy behavior?

Oops... did I just say that out loud? My bad...

Re: [MOPO] what do you do when you run out of wall space??? and my WANT LIST

2005-03-06 Thread Yafet

Michael,

Enjoyed your post. Â But - go ahead - beyond your TV room. Â Try putting theme
pieces in various other rooms of your house. Â Or one special piece in each
bedroom, etc.

You won't run out of room then and you'll get to see the things you like
displayed.

WANT LIST
my tv room has about 80 posters displayed, and they are perfectly
balanced.
no wall space left my non-displayed posters number about
8 (3 one
sheets plus inserts and half sheets,,,) i have 2/3 bids
pending on ebay
now, and have placed bids at Heritage. so, i am not stopping. i
am a
collector, and only buy things i like, so i buy to collect, not
invest!!! i
maintain a WANT LIST, which is printed belowbut
does anyone have
ideas about displaying nice pieces when you have no more wall
space i do
not want to extend my collection outside my tv room. that's
overkill..
i am a collector, and i enjoy looking at my collection. there is
no reason
that one of my favorite films' posters--ARSENIC AND OLD LACE--
should be
unframed and not displayed.
of course through the years, i sell things..and
probably next to
go will be my one-sheet of CROSSFIRE.
ANY SUGGESTIONS AS TO DISPLAYING WHEN YOU RUN OUT OF WALL
SPACE is
there a special frame that you can use to store and rotate
posters?>?>?
WANT LIST:
MORTAL STORM
TOMORROW IS FOREVER (mint one sheet only)

Re: [MOPO] Frankenstein vs. Mummy - Restoration??

2005-03-06 Thread Jeff Jewett
This looks to be the lower right hand corner of the Jumbo Window Card (28" x
22") for Bride of Frankenstein. Sold to movie theaters for 10 cents (.09 for
100 or more!) in 1935 according to the pressbook for BOF. Too bad he
doesn't have the rest of it!

Best, jeff

Looks like a piece of the Jumbo Window Card.
Comparing it to the Mummy is a bad example, as about
85% of the Mummy was there (and almost the entire image).
A better example would be to compare this to the Frankenstein
1/2 sheet that is currently being offered.

Hi Michael,

My husband just bought a condo and he has sliding glass doors on it.
He had a guy come in and put up removable walls on either side, with an open
space in the center to get to the verandah..  Then he hung a 3 sheet on
each one.

It looks great!

I was all excited for a minute, but it turns out this is neither
a "set" nor are the cards from Japan.

When I finally looked at the seller's name I wasn't surprised, nor
was I surprised by the keyword spamming or his consistent placing of
Mexican cards in the US cards section.
Yuck.
