Ideas regarding Sunrise ide:
1. Adding names to the disk partitions in the partitiontabel seeing than msx
now uses its own partitionformat (adding names at the end ? ex "Uzix",
"Dos2.2", "Games a-c", "Publisher", "Utils", "Fat 16" etc)
Modify msx programs to read the names for easy partiton selection!

2.How about using the extra space in the Sunrise flashrom to add Fdisk310
(etc)
Ex. Press f1 on start up to access "idebios" (similar to pc bios) to select
which partitions is active, format etc)

3. Adding a boot manager also in the flash rom.
Here the naming of the partitions will be very nice
ex Press f2 to select boot manager and change what to boot "Uzix", "Dos",
Dos Fat 16" etc

THanks

Yes.

The CompactFlash interface is faster than the normal IDE interface,
isn't it?
I own both interfaces but still I haven't bought any CompactFlash card

[MSX] FDD problems

Hi

It seems that the FDD of my Sanyo WAVY70 is dead (it spins but doesn't

I thought "oh yes, the FDD belt". But after opening it I saw that it

I cleaned the head (which was already clean) but that didn't solve the

It's a TEAC FD-235F.

This company sells them:

The price is 100 USD each unit. Not cheap ;)

I wonder if someone has ever adapt a PC 3,5 HD FDD in this computer. I'm
not only referring to the FDD pin configuration that can be found in
HansO MSX pages,
http://www.msxhans.msx2.com/drive.htm
also in how to adapt "physically" the unit in the computer (it doesn't

I've found that the pin configuration of the DIN-6 female connector is
(external view of it):

5 1
  6
4 2
  3

1. +12V
2. VIDEO OUT
3. GND
4. AUDIO LEFT OUT
5. -
6. AUDIO RIGHT OUT

Does anyone know if I can use two RCA connectors to make the cable? I
would connect the tips of each RCA connector to pins 2 and 4; VIDEO OUT
for one tip and AUDIO LEFT OUT (or AUDIO RIGHT OUT) for the other tip.

Indeed, but then you get two problems. First one,

Comparison between the English and the Spanish translations:

 English Spanish
Increase

Disk 1 107 113 +6
Kbytes
Disk 2 201 210 +9
Kbytes
Disk 3 187 196 +9
Kbytes

   495 519
+24
Kbytes

Then, do I have to reduce the actual size of the Spanish texts?
I think that it won't be a good idea beacuse the translation will lose quality.

The hardest work has been the translation of the messages. I don't think that
I'll spend a lot of time translating the commands. And yes, I agree with you
that translating the commands is quite boring... specially when you cannot play
the game and see the exact meaning of every word (that's why I've bombarded

In my opinion, after have translated almost the entire game, Snatcher is the best
conversational game ever made for the MSX and one of best games of Konami
for MSX (I think that it only could be surpassed by Metal Gear 2 and SD Snatcher).

-Disk2: 99%
-Disk3: 95%
-Commands: 30%

I'm being slow because I want to do a good translation. Absolutely every doubt
that
I have is asked to Takamichi. Steps that last to finish the translation:
-Ask Takamichi the doubts that I had while translating Disk3.
-Ask Takamichi a few doubts that still I have about the translation of Disk1
and Disk2.
-Finish the translation of the commands file.
-Reread the whole texts in order to find possible orthographical/grammatical
errors.

I hope that someone will incorporate the Spanish texts into the original game.

P.S: Don't ask me for the texts. I will put them on the net when the
translation is finished.

So what's the maximum memory size that the CF cartridge supports? 2x256=512 Mb?
Sunrise should put more info about this cartridge in their home page.
By now, I only see two pictures (still no specs):

It seems to the MSX Association that MSX computers were sold only in Japan.
If they want to make money I recommend them to translate their MSX Player page

And about MSX Player, will it run at full speed in my P200MMX? Unfortunately I

National libraries

2002-04-28 Thread Ivan Latorre

Hi

I never thought that national libraries had so many books and magazines
about MSX.
In the National Library of Netherlands even Totally Chaos home page
appears listed ;-):
http://www.kb.nl/

In the Spanish one they have even the Hnostar magazines:
http://www.bne.es/
http://www.bne.es/cgi-bin/wsirtex?FOR=WBNCONS4 (the default selection
is "Modern books after 1831", just
select "Revistas y periodicos" to search for magazines)

Maybe in the Japanese National Library we find Takamichi's home page
listed and Syntax magazine ;-)

MSX2+ for sale

Hi

I sell a Panasonic FS-A1WX computer:
64 Kb RAM, 128 Kb VRAM, V9958 VDP, FM-PAC, 720 Kb FDD, 6 MHz mode

The computer is in very good condition (few minor marks in the

The FDD has been changed. I didn't change it myself, I got the computer

I noticed this recently because the FDD unit has itself a LED. It is
working perfectly.
No box nor instructions.

If I've understood correctly the game now requires 144 Kb of RAM and
it could reach the minimum requirements of 256 or 512 Kb of RAM. I hope
that external memory mappers will be supported otherwise a lot of users will
not have the chance to play the game on their real MSXes.

I've tried to load this version with START.COM and the computer hangs after
you

The version that Maico Arts sent to me is the only that runs well in my

a minor bug: few corrupted graphics when you attack enemies with ultra bombs

SD working

2002-01-04 Thread Ivan Latorre

Hi

Finally I got a version of SD Snatcher that works almost perfectly from
HD.
It's not the version that Mari van den Broek uploaded to Funet (the one
of StarCracks).
For some strange reason with the StarCracks version some (a lot of)
graphics appear distorted
on the screen (with my configuration: Sunrise IDE+A1GT).

Mari told me that the version of StarCracks runs perfectly in his
computer, though (he uses a SCSI interface).

I will upload this new version to Funet soon (with detailed instructions
of what you have to do
to run the game).

By the way, how can I change to Z80 mode in MSX-DOS2? I want to try the
FDD emulation with START.COM
at 3,58 MHz.

I'm sorry I was wrong. D2F is for MSX-DOS and MSX-DOS2 (I've tested again the
program).
So you were right; I can work in drive H: (RAMDISK) with D2F.

I tried again to load SD Snatcher with FDE and it didn't work. Curiously I also
tried to run Illusion City with
FDE and it loads correctly the game.

Is it possible? The sintaxis of D2F is:
D2F a: filename

"The disk in drive a: will be compressed and saved as filename.xsa" appears
when you execute D2F.
