DOS 2 memory management...
ppl. Here's the story... SCC-Blaffer NT does not support DOS2. d-fader has no docs whatsoever using DOS2. So he has a question... Well... Here it is... Bank 0..7 are filled with data Blaffer needs. Now is my question: Can I still use these banks while DOS2 stores itselfs in bank 8 en 9 (when having >128K)?? And can someone give me good docs about DOS2 memory management, with a few examples if possible?? thanks... mzl. d.fader.twz. --- Get free personalized email at http://www.iname.com MSX Mailinglist. hey... I have a q. If I put an SCC in a slot expander, the routines I wrote won't detect it, and now is my question: How can I get it to work?? Do I just have to change the sub-slot?? PIE.. (not to eat though..)
heya, ppl... At the fair in Tilburg (april 25, 1999) you may have noticed that TwZ released a product called SCC-Blaffer 1.0... Now you might think why an SCC-tracker, if there's a Moonsound (Sunrise)... Well, TeddyWareZ had plans for making a sequel to F1-Spirit... And because of the fact we think that a good sequel to F1-Spirit should also have SCC-music, we decided that we should use SCC-music for the sequel... That was around christmas '98. At that moment we were busy with a little project called 'TeddyWareZ Christmas Demo 1998' (downloadable at our site). This demo supports 4 music chips... The SCC-music was made with Tyfoon's SCC-Musixx (which would also have been used for F1-Spirit 2)... DJ. Chaos didn't like working with SCC-Musixx because of 2 reasons: 1. He was (is) used to the MoonBlaster interface and 2. SCC-Musixx hasn't got a user friendly interface... So TwZ decided to make a simple SCC-tracker, which we would use for our own projects (SCC-Blaffer 1.0)... However, it became so extensive that it would be better to release it as a product... That idea wasn't bad at all, because it sold very good! After the fair at Tilburg we would start with F1-Spirit 2... There was a good SCC-Tracker, so there was no problem for our man DJ. Chaos (we thought...). But after the fair DJ. Chaos came to me with the question 'Hey, is it possible to get some PSG in SCC-Blaffer??' And my awnser was 'Shit! PSG?? Hmmm... I lost all my sources, so I'll have to make a complete new tracker!!'. Then DJ. Chaos said 'Yeah, but I've got to have PSG for drum instruments, because else I can't get good music out of SCC-Blaffer...'. So then came the idea to make SCC-Blaffer 2.0 (Blaffer NT)... However when PIE (the PSG instrument Editor) was finished, we didn't have instruments. That's the reason why you're reading this text right now. Before September 1999 there have to be a couple of 'standard' PSG instruments in Blaffer NT. And you can help us with that! PIE is a complete program, with which you can create PSG instruments. When an instrument is finished, it can be saved to disk, as well as a whole instrument kit (44 PSG Instruments)... We hope you're gonna help us! Good luck! tha TWZ cru.. (PIE also is on the new Future Disk) --- Get free personalized email at http://www.iname.com text, base64 encoded
MSX-DOS 2 (not compatable with DOS1??)
hee ppl. As you might know, TeddyWareZ is doing a project called SCC-BLAFFER NT.. I use all BDOS routines, so I thought it would work with a DOS2 cartridge inserted.. But it doesn't... Is the BDOS in DOS2 different then the BDOS in the MSX itself?? I just don't get it, cause I don't have experience whatsoever using DOS2. I thought it would be downwards compatable.. Is that *NOT* true?? And how can I get things going using DOS2?? I use all the BDOS routines which refer to writing and reading blocks. (not the sector part.). So can someone please tell me how to get things going, and maybe even supply me with some good docs about DOS2??? thnx. d-fader^TwZ. --- Get free personalized email at http://www.iname.com MSX Mailinglist. Re: S/F motor off
heya... well.. LD B, 255 Loop: CALL$FD9F DJNZLoop does the trick, but this is much faster: xor a ld ($f1c1),a It's like this.. Every time a disk-operation is done, the address $f1c1 is filled with 255 because of the fact if it's not done, and e.g. the end of a file is not reached, the drive keeps spinning, so when there is read again the drive doesn't have to search the right sector again.. When this address is 0 the disk-drive light is turned off when the next interrupt occurs.. mzl. d-fader^TwZ --- Get free personalized email at http://www.iname.com MSX Mailinglist. yow... Laurens Holst wrote: > Ofcourse it will work on every MSX. But maybe you could > just output your > screens directly to the VRAM??? It's a lot faster than > using the > BIOS-routines... I never use BIOS routines.. And did I say I used BIOS $a2 (ChPut) to write things on screen?? That's way too slow I only use the $9f routine for the delay of the cursor!! (try hitting D a while.. you'll notice a delay...) Well the $9f has the delay build in, so I don't have to code my own routine for that.. I also do not use the output of the BIOS function.. ML questions..
hey ppl. As it is almost vacation (yeah, no school for a while!) I started codin' on SCC-BLAFFER 2.0.. But, I have a few questions.. 1. When I try to hide the cursor (for use with BIOS routine chget ($9f)) I locate the cursor at 1,25 (x,y) -> That's out of the screen as I use 24 lines on screen.. It works, but my question is if it works on every MSX.. Sow.. Does it work on every MSX?? 2. I haven't done research for it, but is there a way to use the BIOS for formatting a diskette, but then to skip the part in which the MSX asks for which drive and what size? Or do I just have to write my own format routine? Well.. Thaz 'bout it.. happy vacantion to all of yers, and see ya'll da'll.. In Bussum! (TeddyWareZ is gonna compete in the demo contest..) To all Assembler coders!!
Hey.. We think we have something interesting for you.. You probably make your sources with GEN80 or COMPASS as they are the most used assemblers on MSX.. Well.. Also you probably think that it's slow, especially the time to compile files to disk.. Wouldn't it all be easier to use a fully qualified Assembler on PC for MSX?? Which fully supports macro's and that kind of stuph?? Where you can use things as: xor a vdp(9) in stead of: xor a out ($99),a ld a,9+128 out($99),a Or something as set_palette(pointer) etc., etc.. Well as a matter o' fact, TeddyWareZ has contacts with a person who has made Chaos Assembler.. Chaos Assembler is an Assembler for the TI82 and TI83 calculators (which also have an Z80 processor..). The person who made Chaos Assembler will add MSX extensions to Chaos Assembler if there is enough interest.. TeddyWareZ will add some more extensions, such as a serious number of those macro's (which *won't* effect the number of clock cycles) Also all BIOS and BDOS routines will be there, a serious number of addresses and documents about the BIOS, BDOS, VDP, etc.. Chaos Assembler is a fully qualified Windows '95 based program.. Think of the features it has what MSX doesn't have: - Multiple files open at once. - A sprite editor - Speed (16000 lines in 8 different source files, in about 20 seconds to disk!) - All docs readable by a couple of clicks. - The ASCII table in one click. - etc., etc.. We really want you to answer this mail, because this is a great opportunity for all MSX coders to use a very cool program!!! grtx. d-fader and HeXx. TeddyWareZ. PS. If you have your thoughts about it, and you're coming to Tilburg, then visit to our stand, and we'll show you Chaos Assembler, as we already made SCC-BLAFFER and Ultra SonicWaves with it (which will be released at Tilburg 1999) Also if you just want to see Chaos Assembler, visit us at our stand, and we'll show you... --- Get free personalized email at http://www.iname.com MSX Mailinglist.
