I've done some experimenting, and saving the message to the
Calendar folder adds the event to my calendar but it doesn't
"accept" the invite by notifying the sender.

I'm guessing that to accept/decline, you have to modify the
meeting.ics attachment and return it to the sender.

Great! I'll give that a try. I rarely decline, so this will
solve most of the problem.

AFAIK, I always seem to get the invitation.

I don't have a good answer, but a cheap partial solution is to save
invitations to imaps://exchange.your.org/Calendar to accept them. Not
sure how to decline though, and this still depends on actually receiving
the invitation. I've run across cases where the invite doesn't reach me
as an IMAP user, I but haven't figured out why yet. (Time and concern
haven't intersected.)

Dealing with Exchange meeting invitations

2008-08-21 Thread Grant Edwards
First, my apologies because this isn't strictly specific to
mutt.

I'm trying to figure out if there's a way to accept/decline
meeting invitations when one is using an IMAP client to read
one's mail on an Exchange server. I use mutt, but I presume
users of other IMAP clients find themselves in a similar
situation. I haven't really found any thing by googling
various combinations of exchange, imap, invitation, accept,
etc.

Can one accept/decline a meeting invitation by sending a reply
in some defined format? If yes, where can I find some
documentation on what the reply is supposed to look like?
