Re: About installation on Linux
I got a problem with the Installation in LINUX, too. I download the MySQL 4.0.1Server (i386) (7M) in http://www.mysql.com/ and use root access to install mysql database with the command: shell = rpm -i MySQL-4.0.1-2.i386.rpm And I saw the message: PLEASE REMEMBER TO SET A PASSWORD FOR THE MySQL root USER ! This is done with: /usr/bin/mysqladmin -u root password 'new-password' /usr/bin/mysqladmin -u root -h piii700 password 'new-password' See the manual for more instructions. Then I try to change the root password to mySQL database with the mysqladmin, and magically, there is NO mysqladmin program at the /usr/bin/ directory I try to use the shell = mysql to see whether mysql command works but unexpectly, bash: mysql: command not found message was return back. mysqldump
Hello , VERSION 3.23.49 mysqldump incorrectly export char/varchar binary and *BLOB fields. it export binary fields like text strings example : CREATE TABLE users ( US_ID int(10) unsigned NOT NULL auto_increment, USERNAME varchar(16) NOT NULL default '', US_ACTIVE tinyint(3) unsigned NOT NULL default '0', US_SECRET0 tinyblob, US_SECRET1 tinyblob, US_AUTHKEY tinyblob, US_PUK tinyblob, US_CARDID varchar(16) binary NOT NULL default '', PRIMARY KEY (US_ID), KEY x_username (USERNAME), KEY x_cardid (US_CARDID), KEY x_active (US_ACTIVE) ) TYPE=InnoDB; INSERT INTO users VALUES (7,'zk',1,'¦î¯¯Çbv','ó+:ºÐ','Ó]¦Ç\ZW¦{','T~âxÎË-','T üc¦SüG\R-¦Íê'); this is obviously incorrect and may contain non-asci characters. I experienced corrupt records in practice. You should use hex representation, for example : INSERT INTO users VALUES (7,'zk'',1,binary 0x112233,binary 0x44556677,.); or at least escape sequences in text strings -- Best regards, Papa mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] - Before posting, please check: http://www.mysql.com/manual.php (the manual) http://lists.mysql.com/ (the list archive) To request this thread, e-mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe, e-mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] Trouble unsubscribing? Thanks Egor, but the table names in the example are already lower case and I pasted them in SQL window of the client. Since yesterday I have test to type the script manually at the prompt in a DOS-window and then all worked well. Trying to do the same in the SQL-window of MySQL-Front all was OK until I typed the statement: select shop.article, dealer, shop.price from shop, tmp where shop.article=tmp.article and shop.price=tmp.price; Now I got an alert-box which tells me: Table 'mybase.tmp' does'nt exist. I'm having a problem with mysql_connect(). I use this code on many diff websites and servers, but on this particular server and site, this happens. I have never done anything else on this server, so I was thinking it might be the settings, but I'm not even sure where to start. Usually I just get back error message such as invalid password or user etcbut this completely hangs and times out, just on the mysql_connect() alone. If I take that out, the page loads up fine, but of course I can't do any MySQL work. If I do a SELECT * from TABLE I get all the records in the DB (as it should) If I do a SELECT id from TABLE all the id's in the table are retrieved except id's 113-119 for some reason To use record 117 as an example: If I do a SELECT * from TABLE WHERE id=117 it returns no records, but when I do the SELECT * from TABLE the record with id=117 shows up. id is an auto-increment int field EXPLAIN SELECT * from TABLE WHERE id=117 says impossible WHERE noticed after reading const table what would cause this? Perhaps not the highest level of password encryption, but works for the level of security I need. - Original Message - From: Ki Mien [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Saturday, July 06, 2002 4:16 AM Subject: encrypting password fields Hi mySql gurus, I have a table that contains my customers username and password. I would like to know how I can encrypt these values so that they are not stored how in the way that my customers have keyed them from the front end. I have read the documentation on password(), and encrypt but it won't work as I am using windows os and mysql version 3.23.49-max-nt-log. I appreciate any help on this. cheers, Ki Mien cOntact @ Lycos http://contact.lycosasia.com = 10MB for email and filestore + lots of other goodies... - Before posting, please check: http://www.mysql.com/manual.php (the manual) http://lists.mysql.com/ (the list archive) To request this thread, e-mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe, e-mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] Trouble unsubscribing? BLOB insert problem used ' '
Hi, After a good old slurp of an image I am trying to stick it into my table. # Slurp file foreach (@image_list) { my $image = /usr/home/shadow/Vision/$_; # Load image into memory my $imagePIC = do { local ($/, *PIC); # slurp mode, local file handle open PIC, $image or die can't open '$image': $!; binmode PIC; PIC }; And this is how I am sticking it in, but I get an error reported in my sql code. my $prep = INSERT INTO object (object) VALUES ('$image'); see anything wrong? I tried: my $prep = INSERT INTO object (count) VALUES (1); to check I can insert, and I can. Easy Auto-Increment
Is there any easy way to create a column in a MySQL table which automatically increments with each successive INSERT request? (I understand that AUTO_INCREMENT inserts a value that is one greater than the greatest that already exists in the table; however, this creates a problem --- from the position of creating a web interface --- of what occurs when the record holding the greatest value for the AUTO_INCREMENT column is dropped. Thus it would be possible to confuse two records which, in the end, would have had the same identifying value. Is there any work around to this issue to continue incrementing even if the record holding the greatest AUTO_INCREMENT value is deleted? Thank you in advance for your support! The behavior you describe (reuse of values) occurs for ISAM tables. If you use a MyISAM table instead, values will increase monotonically, even if DELETEs occur.
