Re: [mythtv-users] PVR-350 and playing DVD's

2005-06-05 Thread mythtv
I need to upgrade my ivtv from 0.2.0 to eg. 0.3.5z to try solving my xv
problem. Making a tar of 0.3.5z and copying and renaming ivtvdev_drv_0
to /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers/ivtvdev_drv.o does not solve the xv
problem. I guess that I need to install the entire ivtv 0.3.5z package.
But how?
Basically I'm a little afraid that if this doesn't work, that I may
need to go back to 0.2.0. I hope someone could advise on how to proceed
with this.

Thanks,
Mogens

(II) Module ivtv: vendor="The XFree86 Project"

Where can I see the release version of ivtvdev? The ivtv itself is

2005-06-04 Thread mogens lunde

I did a dd if=/dev/video0 of=/dev/video16 bs=64k count=50
Also a ctrl+c, but this didn't seem neccesary as the comand ended itself
after a few seconds with this output:

1+49 records in
1+49 records out
and a very short audio output through my TV's speakers.

But still no xv ("Your x server doesn't supportYV12 overlays" (repeated
twice), "Your x server doesn't have any XVideo support" :(

My recording profiles for Default, Live, High and low quality are all
set to 720 x 480.

How can I make sure that I have the correct ivtvdev driver installed?

hi,

I just tried this, and after a bit of tweaking, it's working great for me.

I had a bit of trouble with my xorg.conf (had to change from hex to
decimal for the pci bus id), but that wasn't much of an issue once I
actually read the error message.

The biggest hurdle I had was the picture not being displayed properly
... best described in this post on the ivtv list:

http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/ivtv/devel/21057

Once I switched my Live TV profile from 640x480 to 720x480 (as suggested
later in the posts), both videos & DVDs play great.

DVD command:

xine -f -I -V xv --audio-driver alsa --no-logo --no-splash dvd://

video command:

mplayer -fs -zoom -quiet -vo xv %s

specs:

ivtv-0.3.5z (by hand, no emerge)
gentoo (2.6.11-gentoo-r9 kernel)
pIII 733
384 MB ram

RE: [mythtv-users] PVR-350 and playing DVD's

2005-06-04 Thread Patrick de Brabander [mythtv]
The ivtvdev_drv is applied in chris's ivtv driver's from 0.3.4e and further.
The latest verion at this moment is 0.3.5l, which you can use.
Just copy the ivtvdrv_dev.o over the one you already have.
Try on the command line : locate ivtvdev_drv.o
Mine is in : /usr/X11R6/lib/modules/drivers/

Don't know if the patch is applied in the ivtvdev, at atrpm. If so you can
use this.

Succes

Re: [mythtv-users] PVR-350 and playing DVD's

2005-06-04 Thread mythtv
Thanks Patrick. I can see from the thread that these guys seems to be
using ivtv-0.3.5e + Johns patch. From my log I can see that my
ivtv-version is 0.2.0 (rc3j) which I assume is the latest stable
version. So does this mean that I have to moove into "bleeding" to get
ivtv-0.3.5e and to - maybe - make x work properly?

As a newbie I don't even know how to apply Johns patch, and also not
whether it would work for me on a PAL system.

Strange to me that PVR-350 is such a commonly used tuner if it has such
large deficiencies with x.

I tried to install xine following Jarods description in "Tips
& Tricks".
Found out that I had to install xine-devel also after I did
a xine-check. xine still reports "The amount of dropped frame
is too high", despite that I have DMA enabled. Runing a
xine-check reports "Your x server doesn't support YV12 overlays"

The DVD plays extremely slow and unstable, and it almost
locks my computer. No sound either :(
