[neonixie-l] Re: Dalibor tubes

2019-07-05 Thread Mort

I'd read here about Dalibor and his tube making business but never realized
what a magnificent tube he makes. Last week I watched his YouTube video
about making tubes. And then I saw the YouTube unboxing of the 6 tube
clock he makes. I ordered his 4 tube clock and his 6 tube clock. The 4
tube clock will be here this coming Tuesday. I can't wait to get both of
them here and running!

[neonixie-l] Manuel Azevedo's Passing

2018-08-13 Thread Mort Denison
I was sorry to hear this. Prayers for his family in coping with his
untimely passing.

I have his NWTS kits running on two clocks. They've performed flawlessly.
He was extremely helpful in debugging one that didn't work due to user
error.

He will be missed.

[neonixie-l] Jeff Thomas GPSII Clock

2016-04-14 Thread Mort
I've owned the gpsii clock for a number of years and built it from the kit.

Lately, I've noticed that the GPS lock light never comes on. I thought
that the GPS board and/or the antenna had failed after so many years. I
got pretty worried as this is my most favorite Nixie clock. Some years
ago, Jeff sent me a new antenna. I installed it to no avail. I was using
a PVC pole mounted on the side of the house right outside the basement
where the clock is located. I took the antenna down and laid it on the
patio contemplating what to do next. After a while I glanced at the clock
and it was receiving GPS signals and displaying correctly once again. It
appears that the wired PTZ camera I had mounted on top of the pole must be
interfering with the antenna. It's time for a new mounting arrangement.

I have a couple of later small GPS modules that work well in my basement
workshop and they don't require an external antenna. Has anyone
retrofitted a newer receiver to this clock? I'm afraid the ability to do
this is not in my wheel house.

Is there anyone currently making completed or kit Nixie clocks with
built-in GPS?

Thanks,
Mort

Pretty watch and a slick layout. I'd hate to sell my original one to buy
this one. Too many decisions...

[neonixie-l] Re: Most expensive Nixie Watch?

2014-10-18 Thread Mort

David,

Speaking of your Nixie Tube watch, you mentioned a few years back of a case
with larger lugs for the strap.

Did you ever start having these made?

I'd like to get one if you did. I didn't see anything on your web page.

Thanks

[neonixie-l] Re: Anybody heard from David Forbes lately?

2011-02-27 Thread Mort
Clearly I was worried about my watch.

Another member suggested I post a message here to see if I could get
some sort of response since email didn't produce any results.

I have no knowledge of his business nor what his workload is. My only
knowledge is ordering from his website and seeing his posts here.

My apologies to Mr. Forbes, however some communication would have
avoided this situation.

I'm sorry you felt the need to post this on the list, too.

This is a situation between you and David. There is no need to air
your issues here. No need to publicly disparage David and Cathode
Corner. You claimed to be worried about David and his business, but
clearly you were only worried about your watch.

If you couldn't get ahold of David by email, you certainly could have
looked up his number and called him. It took me all of 15 seconds to
find his number online: (520) 795-7xxx

No doubt David is working hard to support his customers, new and old.
He's a one man band. Give him a break.

We had another supplier on this list a few years ago who truly was a
deadbeat, people are still bemoaning the loss of their deposits on a
certain clock. The whole affair got very tiring and distasteful.
People were darn near calling for his lynching. Let's not go down that
 road again.

Hi. I'm back in the Nixie watch world after taking more time off than I
expected. I got sick just before finishing my workshop, and that threw
me out of whack.

I have your watch repaired and it will ship in a few days after I'm sure
it's working properly.

I also am taking orders for Nixie watches again, if anyone's interested.
I have about 6 months of backlog to work through.

[neonixie-l] David Forbes and cathodecorner.com

2010-10-30 Thread Mort
I just noticed that cathodecorner.com is down.

Does anyone know if David Forbes is still available?

Earlier this week, I sent him an email concerning my Nixie watch,
purchased last February, has malfunctioned.

I never got a reply although the email did not bounce.

I hope the website problem is temporary, and that there are no
problems.
