Re: [newbie] Getting support
I contacted LM just after Thanksgiving about replacing the beta KDE through the customer service dept. They replied that they would turn the request to their sales dept. Several weeks later a Vincent Seleti contacted me and said that the upgrade CD would be sent by Christmas. Early in January I sent an E-mail to Vincent and informed him that the SD had not arrived. He ignored the message. The second copy of the E-mail was re transmitted a week later and he did reply to this by saying that he had answered my E-mail in December and hoped I was enjoying the up-grade. It was obvious that he had not read the E-mail. I sent him a n E-mail stating that he should read the E-mail before answering it and would he investigate why I did not get the CD. Another week has gone by with no res ponce. I have come to the conclusion that LM does not care for their image or there customers. - Original Message - From: Christopher Molnar To: [EMAIL PROTECTED];Lionel Chan Sent: 1/11/2001 7:51:37 PM Subject: Re: [newbie] Getting support Can you please post your question here? cc me in and we'll try to help. Re: [newbie] Getting support
Yes it is. [Snipped a bunch of very important but unnecessary stuff];-) For my money I thing Mandrake is really triying, while other distro's are not. So Mandrake keep up the good work. Dude (et al), I apologize to have given the impression that I don't care for lm's support. I've been using Linux for some time, though I'm still something of a newbie in many areas. I'm very pleased with Mandrake in comparison to RedHat will only -- after many months or possibly years -- leave Mandrake to go bsd (which has been my plan since RedHat 5.0 got released installed on two 'puters I was using then). So, yeah. I'm all for it will wait with all the patience I can manage for some response. But I'm a misanthropist very cynical. Just my nature. A very important lesson for us all: Don't ever let your children become end-user support technicians -- they'll hate you everyone else for it;-). Re: [newbie] Getting support
Hi Guys, Not trying to either defend nor bash them, but has anyone considered the number of requests for help they likely get each day? It does take time to get through them. Getting over 1,000 emails a day myself (ok, so I'm on about 40 lists of various types) and it does take time to get through them. It's likely they get quite a few (more than they can handle I'll bet) and maybe some people out there might consider taking some of the load? (just a thought that might help out if this is the case). Not a big fan of M$ myself, but even they likely get more requests than they can handle (even I have Q's they haven't answered yet). So depending on the load, yes, it might take a little while. You can also do what I do, ask in a number of forums if the Q is really important and needs urgent attention. James Hey, I've registered my 7.2 and posted a question dated 12 Dec 2000.
