Re: [newbie] Prob2- Netscape
If you go to www.mandrakeuser.org there is a section on how to implement Mozilla fonts into Netscape. They actually work pretty good... -Necro On Mon, 03 Apr 2000, vern wrote: Here's My Nutscrape gripe! What can we do with those dirty, nasty, little unreadable fonts that come on Nutsrcape?? I think I got about 1558megs and as expert. I have used the server install since samba, ipchains, MAsq, Apache, etc. are what I decided I wanted to learn to setup and run in my home network... I don't have it all running yet in linux.. I have managed to get the sound blaster awe64 working setup after starting to a console and runnning sndconfig.. still reading for the rest. read read and read some moreThanks for all the info everyone --Original Message-- From: Paul Marriott [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: April 3, 2000 7:26:26 PM GMT Subject: Re: [newbie] Prob2- Netscape " 3 - Netscape is noticibly slower connecting and loading pages off the Webis this normal? I have seen ISPs that use "Microsoft Compression" which to my mind meant at the time that maybe proprietary software compression might make Windoze run faster then other OS making same connection. Just for giggles why don't you make connection to say, ftp.microsoft.com and using the commandline ftp client in each OS download the file LS.LR.txt. Time how long it takes each to do this. You want a text file because that will compress the best. Just to be fair, make sure you do it at the same time of day for each test.

There really isn't one and I have tried all of them unless you like no graphics, than Lynx does a good job Jeanette - Original Message - From: "Michael N. Re: [newbie] Prob2- Netscape
The problem does not seem to have to do with how many windows you have open as it has happened to me with only two open. This does not seem to occur with the older versions so I am running 4.07 right now and this has never manifested this problem Jeanette - Original Message - From: Michael Holt To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, April 03, 2000 7:50 PM Subject: Re: [newbie] Prob2- Netscape No, Netscape doesn't suck! It's not my favorite, but it's head and shoulders above anything else out there now for Linux. I know there are die hards out there using text only browsers, and if that works for you - GREAT!! There are also people who swear my Mozilla; I've tried it, it's about as robust as a group of college students final exam project - functional but that's it. This is just my opinion, but could we keep the 'it sucks' comments to a minimum and just try to answer the question? Now to the tech problem: I've noticed that sometimes Netscape will shut down on it's own, I'm not sure why (I think it has to do with too many instances - ie windows - open at once), but I've downloaded newer versions and haven't had that problem near as much. I'm using the 128bit version now but you can get the regular version here: ftp://rpmfind.net/linux/MandrakeCooker/cooker/Mandrake/RPMS/ Make sure to get most recent version (common, communicator and navigator), and yes, they are working on the 'dull' look too! If you want to get email about what the latest upgrades are, go to this address: http://www.linux-mandrake.com/en/fdevlists.php3 and subsribe to the changelog list. I could be wrong, but seems like Netscape must finish downloading whatever it's currently doing before it'll move on to anything else. Quite annoying, and yet another reason why Netscape sucks.
