Uninstall it and reinstall with /net parameter.

Run /usr/local/soffice/program/soffice as user and that's it...

Ma belle FemmeFatale, I don't know anything about E, sorry. However in
other window-managers like Enlightenment, Blackbox, IceWM it's merely a
matter of editing the rc-files. Personally I'm very fond of XFce
which is fast and reliable. Here it's piece of cake to add an entry,
i.e. Star Office to the menu : just right-click the up-arrows and add an
entry + its command (here : Star Office / command :
/home/(user)/office52/soffice). That's all !

Bonne chance !

Yes, it must be initialized (for want of a better word) for each user. You
should be able to go to the kpanel office Staroffice. Once you click on
Star Office it will install for the user, a much faster setup time. HTH

If I remember correctly you have to run the installer with the -net
option, then run it again (without the -net option) for each user. I.e
each user has to run it.

Good Luck,

I run /usr/lib/office52_en/program/setup for each user (su to user).

There is a flag you need to put on the end of the command to initiate the

Sorry, but that is not correct. A su to root gives full root privileges on that
tty, including use of the root home dir. With su, there is almost _no_ need
whatsoever to log in as root. The last time I logged in as root was over six
months ago, and that was because I had messed-up my system and I was booting
with a rescue disc.

An su installation will work fine (that's how I did it).

I did a quick search, and I found that the parameter to enable a network
installation is /net.

[newbie] Staroffice 5.2

2001-08-07 Thread Pascal Goguey
Hello!

I tried using StarOffice 5.2, and it sounds like it is
rather buggy. At least the display is not good. The piece

Is there a way to get it work fine?

[newbie] StarOffice 5.2 and Mandrake 8.0 - major problems!

2001-05-21 Thread Daniel Meier

Hi there,

a few weeks back I installed Mandrake 8.0 (fresh, clean install). Some
days later I installed StarOffice 5.2 (from sun.com) and found it to be
unusable.
Here are the symptoms:
Any text I enter or any text in opened documents doesn't display
correctly. The letters themselves are overlapping, everything is
crunched horizontally. Changing fonts does not help. Changing the paper
size does not help. In fact, a normal letter size document is only 8
inches wide (that's what the horizontal ruler of SO says), not 11 inches
(as the paper settings say). And changing the paper settings or font
size does not make things better since the letters are still overlapping
then.

- Star Office did work perfectly on my system under 7.1
- problem appears in GNOME as well as KDE
- problems also occur in recent versions of OpenOffice
- other word processors don't seem to have any problems
- changing the printer driver/settings did do nothing
- changing the X version did not do anything either
- changing the Screen Resolution did not help (btw, my graphics card is
a ATI Rage 128 AGP)
- a completely new install of MDK8.0 and SO5.2 did not help me
- but still I couldn't find anyone online who had the same problems

Help me! What could be causing these strange behaviors of SO? I will
have to write lots of papers during the next few weeks..

Thanks in advance for your help!

Daniel

[newbie] StarOffice 5.2 - KDE integration kinda flakey

2001-02-05 Thread David Nelson

Hello,

I recently installed StarOffice 5.2 (SO) on my Linux-Mandrake 7.2 system, and
I must say it is really cool. The only problem I have with it are some
inconsistencies and cosmetic problems with its integration into KDE.

The folder entry for SO in the K menu does not have an icon to the left of
its name like the rest of the entries in the menu. I figured I could fix this
using the menu editor (menudrake), but the entry for SO does not show up at
all in the menu editor. Worse yet if you edit anything with the menu editor
then save your changes the SO entry is completely removed from the K menu.

This makes me think that SO setup program inserted items into the K menu by
some non-standard unsupported means. I would appreciate it if anyone can tell
me how to clean this up so that menudrake can see and manupulate the SO
entries in the K menu.

BTW When I installed SO I did the net install option as root which placed the
whole 250MB SO install in /usr/share/office52. I then logged into my normal
user account and ran /usr/share/office52/program/setup which installed about
3MB of stuff in ~/office52.

Thanks Much
David Nelson

Selected test page in order to save the settings.
The test page came out OK
