[newbie] sylpheed-claws 1.9.6

2005-03-28 Thread Lee Wiggers
I have had claws (0.9.10) running on my 9.2 box and now want to move
the folder tree to the 10.1 box.

I thought that the last time I did this I copied the /home/lee/Mail
directory to the new box and I was done.

So I renamed the existing directory xMail and copied the old Mail
directory to the new box, changed the permissions to me on the new
box(claws 1.9.6), and started Claws.

Didn't work.

Where did I go wrong?

TIA

Lee

You have to copy the mail folder _and_ the .sylpheed folder.

I spoke too soon. After moving .sylpheed and Mail to the 10.1 box,
Claws still comes up with the default Mail settings and no new
material.

Yes, I changed ownership and permissions on the directories.

Anything else, perchance??

From the release notes for tyhe 1.9.6 release:

If you are migrating from the GTK1 version of Sylpheed-Claws...

 * default config dir is ~/.sylpheed-gtk2
You can copy your old config dir to the new location

 * plugins
You will need to reload your plugins

Thanks all. Trick was rename .sylpheed to .sylpheed-gtk2.

All is well in 10.1land. Time to try 10.2 and get some more grey

Right--when you said 1.9.6 I was thinking you were using

I have experienced the same thing with the Windows version of SC, but
perhaps an upgrade to 1.0.1 might do the trickI can't remember
experiencing it in Linux, you could also post a message to the Sylpheed

[newbie] Sylpheed-Claws

2004-07-19 Thread Lee Wiggers
Well I hosed my mailbox playing with Dereks instructions for setting
up a mailserver. I really need a toybox. I shouldn't be allowed to
use the real computer.

Anyway, I have everything back except that it won't let me add a
filter. Cooker is now coming in to my main folder.

I have 5 accounts collected by sylpheed from the isp and our own
site. The list mail comes from americanelevatorinspection.com and
my isp is comcast.net.

Problem seems to be that no matter what account I have active, the
filters all set up for comcast.net. Or maybe the problem is that I
don't understand the problem.

Anyone shed some light here?

TIA

The post in question is signed with a Cryptography signature or digital
signature.
At this time digital sigs can not be handled in the same manner as gpg
sig.
For digital sigs you need the root cert. of the issuing entity and they
need to be installed in the manner of the plugin README.

Without said cert. messages using such will not be displayed if the
privacy plugin is used.

[newbie] Sylpheed-claws - slight problem

2004-01-17 Thread Johan
Hi,
I was running sylpheed.
I read about sylpheed-claws and installed that.
Now in folders Inbox -- CLUG -- Newbie shows in blue they have
files...but click on that and nothing shows.
There may have been files in there before moving from sylpheed to
sylpheed-claws.
What I see in Mail folder...there are files for Kmail and files in same
folder but otherwise listed...take it to be sylpheed files.
Any idea to correct this please.
Thanks

FWIW, I had a similar problem with claws. Inbox said I had 530-odd
messages (I'd deleted a whole bunch of emails before installing) and the
newbie(this list's) folder said 1479 (or some such) messages and I had
only 4 or 5 saved in each. I found I don't really use all the extra
features in claws so I've just gone back to regular sylpheed, but just
confirming that it happens.

[newbie] Sylpheed-claws

2003-07-20 Thread Lee Wiggers
Thanks to all, I'm happy as a clam in sylpheed.

Two questions.

1. How do I import 2 years of kmail emails and

2. How about the email addressbook? (far less important).

3. When I'm feeling wild and crazy enough to upgrade to the latest, how do I preserve
my files and settings? This one does crash now and again.

4. Has anyone a program to simulate the bsod? I miss the excitement.

TIA

Lee

Hello,

 Two questions.

 1. How do I import 2 years of kmail emails and

Under File you have something called Add Mailbox or something like that
(I don't have access to it at the moment)

 2. How about the email addressbook? (far less important).

Don't know, the FAQ might give you the answer to that one

 3. When I'm feeling wild and crazy enough to upgrade to the latest, how
do I preserve my files and settings? This one does crash now and again.

IIRC, the settings are stored in .sylpheed in your homedirectory and I have
never
had any problems with upgrading myself so you should not either :o)

If you downloaded the source .tar.gz, there are helper scripts in there;
I'm not sure where they are located if you installed via rpm. Anyway,
the script is called kmail2sylpheed_v2.pl (if you're moving from kde3).
If you can't find that, you can download it here:
http://sylpheed-claws.sourceforge.net/features.php at the bottom is a
list of helper scripts.

 3. When I'm feeling wild and crazy enough to upgrade to the latest,

That's odd, the only time I've had it crash is when I specified an
invalid font. What action are you doing when it crashes?

I've never had a problem upgrading, it always maintains my old settings.

 4. Has anyone a program to simulate the bsod? I miss the excitement.

LOL, I don't know of a program to simulate bsod, but I have some Windows
screenshots in my gallery if you ever care to relive those days!!

Sylpheed-claws includes a set of .pl action scripts.
One of these is importing your address book from various other e-mail
clients including kmail.

Until now , because I use CVS claws 99% of the time, I did not realize
that the READMEs which listed these scripts and how to use them were not
included in the sylpheed-claws rpms I built.
I have now rectified that omission and the updated rpms have been
uploaded and can be dled from my web site.

The 2 new files are
/usr/share/doc/sylpheed-claws-0.9.3claws/tools-README and
/usr/share/doc/sylpheed-claws-0.9.3claws/tools-README.sylprint

Anyone who is using mandrake rpms are using rpms I did so you might
as well update to these.

You either changed your system fonts or the display setting for fonts in
claws.

Open ~/sylpheed/sylpheedrc
There will be 2 separate listing for widget font
Remove the font listings under both and claws will then launch with the
defaults.

The font being used can be changed from a running claws using
Configuration/Common preferences/Display

Yep generaly after I finish a mandrake install the first thing I do is
install opera. I have been a opera user a lot longer than I have been a

I will try adding the -n '%s and see what happens.
