[newbie] KDE Menu button graphic
Hi. I'm trying to change my menu button graphic in my main panel. It shows mandrake star and I'd like to change it to kde gear. When I change icons theme in control center it's still a star even if kmenu.png of current theme is something else. Can anyone tell me what to do? regards, Cezary Morga Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft? Go to http://www.mandrakestore.com Join the Club : http://www.mandrakeclub.com
[newbie] KDE Menu issue revisited
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Hi, I'm still trying to figure out why several menu items are missing from my K menu in KDE. Does the error message below give you any hints? [EMAIL PROTECTED] melissa]# menudrake ERROR: Couldn't attach to DCOP server! ERROR: Couldn't attach to DCOP server! Menudrake did open up, and after it did its scan, it did show *all* the missing menu items as being there. Save acts like it's saving, but nothing is changed after that. I hope someone can help me. For a few reasons, I do feel I prefer the KDE desktop over Gnome, but Gnome doesn't have the menu problem that KDE does. Please help! Thanks! - -- Melissa -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: GnuPG v1.2.3 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQE/wxAgjVbXUvsE8ukRAsLlAKCNrmCYfU3mbmM/JG0rqq8Wjo7MkwCeJ14E G2X1d7i6iDjP5+Pgw9XJzdk= =ulud -END PGP SIGNATURE- Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft? Like et said.. yeah that's for articles you post. (to cancel your post) set up your filters to catch the flooder you're having trouble with that way you won't get the headers in the first place. That's one reason I like pan over knode. Deleting the headers does keep the header window cleaned up and a little easier to keep track of what you've read, which pan allows you to do. I don't post binaries or anything so pan works fine for me. As for slrn (from another post of yours) that's a consonle newsreader so to use it you need to run it in a terminal. [newbie] KDE-menu missing!
Hi! I'm running Mandrake 9.0 with KDE 3.0.3 and KDE:s menueditor 0.4. I was installing Bluefish-gtk2-0.8-1mdk.i586.rpm, and using menudrake trying to add the program to my K-menu, or to be more exact, the mandrake-menu. After i pressed the save button in menudrake: Most of the posts in the menu is missing, The icon buttons in the panel doesnt work either. For example: ”Sorry – KDE-panel. Could not find service, Terminals/konsole.desktop”. If I try to open, for example an Open Office document by leftclicking it, there will be a window asking me witch program to open with, and show the non existing menu. Only the Wat to do? entry is showing. The sound that is playing wen logging in to KDM is gone. I have found out that if I remove the “applnk-mdk” -file in “/home/user/.kde/share/” it will be replaced with an emty catalog with the same name. Then the Mandrake-menu is back, until I log out and in again. Then I have to remove the file again. If I use menudrake to change menustyle, and change it to the “Simplified menu” or the Original KDE-menu everything is back to normal. Only the “Mandrake menu” doesnt work. [newbie] KDE menu
Dear All, I have been running LM8.1 since November on my desktop and just about a week ago a new problem presented itself. Whenever I boot into KDE the menu will say no entries even though there are many entries that were there before. If I reboot then the menu shows all of the entries. In other words I have to boot up once then reboot in order to get my menu you to show all of the applications that are there. Is there a way to fix this? Thank you for your help. Sincerely, Marcia Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft? Go to http://www.mandrakestore.com

Damian Did you remember to save the changes before you closed the menu editor, if so the changes should show up at once, they do for me. [newbie] KDE menu half disappeared as root.
Running mandrake 7.2 here. Ok, now whilst working on my problems with the mounting of cdrom, I made some headway and was in kpackage as root. I was messing in the kpackage, just looking at some rpm files, you know with the explanation of them on the right. Well I decided to leave the kpackage program, so I left, and when I did returning to root's desktop, suddenly for no reason the menu that pops up from the k start button was missing most of the kde related icons and menus. I HAD NOT DONE ANYTHING to cause the menu to be missing half of the menu items. I was devastated. I did nothingrelated to working with the menu. So I hurredly logged out of root, did not save session and logged back in as user to see if something had happened to the user menu, but I checked and it was all there. So then I logged back in as root to see if the menu would come back and it has not. Here is all that pops up from the kde start button using root: listed from bottom(just above K) to top: logout lock screen about kde panel menu run quick browser recent documents bookmarks applications amusement Please help I did nothing to remove all these menu listings but I need them back as root, here are the ones I need back: home directory help control center terminals office networking multimedia documentation configuration
[newbie] KDE -- Menu Editor not installed
Dear friends: Just installed (once again) LM 7.1. Everything seems fine, at last, but when I try to edit the menus in KDE, I get an error message that says: "Menu Editor not installed." So, I logged out as user and went into KDE as root. Same error message. How could the menu editor NOT be installed. How do I fix this? Thanks so much.
