Marc I`ve only done an upgrade, which might be the problem. I`ll do a clean install instead and hope it`ll work then. Thanks for your advice, Kat install kdenetwork Thanks, it worked without problems after a clean install. Kat Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft? Re: [newbie] kppp or ppp
This looks like part of kppp, fill in all the boxes you list below, make sure you set up your modem to the correct terminal and it should work, some isp's require pap authentication, othrs want chap, kppp defaults to pap, if it doesn't work change it to chap and try again. you shouldn't need to go near /etc/resolv.conf On Tue, 02 May 2000, you wrote: this might be a stupid question but hey i am new to linux. when i am first installing linux and it comes up to the part to set up your modem connection and it asks to enter the following- Connection Name= Phone Number= Login Name= Login Password= Authentication= Domain Name= First Dns Server= Second Dns Server= I would like to know if that is setting up kppp or ppp? also if i dont get it set up right there would i go to /etc/resolv.conf to enter the dns server? _ NetZero - Defenders of the Free World Click here for FREE Internet Access and Email http://www.netzero.net/download/index.html
