Pump it up and paint it with soapy water to find the leak. Sidewalls are not repairable. Check the valve stem too. [Nighthawk Lovers] Re: CB 1100?
Sounds like a great idea to me. I love my 750 and for my commute I haven't found anything better. However, I have an ST1100 that I take out for long rides - it's on the Island of Hawaii so I don't get to it as often as I would like. The extra CC's and size is really nice when you have an open road in front of you. If I was back in California I'd upgrade as soon as I could. I'm also kind of biased, I don't like the way bikes look today. They seem to be focused on making the plastics look cool more then just doing the job of covering stuff. The CB1100 is basically a modern and bigger version of the CB750. Sounds like a great bike to me. [Nighthawk Lovers] Re: Corbin seat
Ross, I've had a Corbin on my 1996 750 for almost 5 years - it's the first thing I replaced on the bike. I commute on the Nighthawk everyday, lucky I live Hawaii, and love the Corbin for that. It's so much better than stock and gives you a really good feel and connection with the bike. Yes it's hard but once it breaks in it kind forms to your behind and is very comfortable. I've done about 2 hours non-stop on it once and my backside was fine - I had to ride around Oahu to do that. I'm sure Javier has ridden further. I rode around the island on my stock seat twice - suffice to say - that's why I got the Corbin. Bottom line - it's a great seat. They come up on eBay every month or so and you can get them for between $150 and $250. Some times they go for more but then you may as well get one made for you. Best of luck - Sean On Wednesday, January 30, 2013 3:40:29 AM UTC-10, ross.m.jamison wrote: > > Anyone riding on a Corbin seat for nighthawk? How do you like it? Does > it have a gel pad in it? I called on a craigslist Corbin seat the other day but it had already sold. The width of my 96 750NH gives me a charley horse, like it's trying to pull my hips out of their sockets at the red lights. If a Corbin was narrower, I could go for that. On Wednesday, January 30, 2013 8:40:29 AM UTC-5, ross.m.jamison wrote: > > Anyone riding on a Corbin seat for nighthawk? How do you like it? If you do get one - please post your reviews. I'm lusting after one also - but it's difficult to justify as I'm not going to sell my 2002 750NH and in terms of usability - they're closeeven though they're very different bikes. That said, that's the only bike I'd spend money on at this point. Eric On Wednesday, January 30, 2013 1:29:21 PM UTC-8, Spanky wrote: > > I'm thinking of buying a new CB1100. RE: [Nighthawk Lovers] Corbin seat
Yes. Handy & ugly. Also makes taking the seat off quite hard. I got mine for $35 from Amazon. The best feature is the traversing led lights on the spoiler. It also has turn lights on the corners. Rattles & is not dust tight. Will only hold a 1/2 helmet but I can carry most of what I want or need. [Nighthawk Lovers] ABS repair
I'm sure some of you have a faired bike or at least know someone who does. This might come in handy at some point. I just found out about this from the VFR list. http://faq.ninja250.org/wiki/Plastics_repair_with_ABS_cement I did not know that the black ABS drain pipe can be ground up and melted by acetone to essentially be the same thing as the plastex powder/liquid repair. Or used to thicken up ABS cement to just paint on cracks to chemically weld them, and act as filler. Good stuff, $20 at the hardware store and you could fix a bunch of fairings. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Nighthawk Motorcycle Lovers!" group. Re: [Nighthawk Lovers] Corbin seat
"I think $200 for upholstery is kind of steep." Especially since it is just a plain piece of vinyl with no stitching. That is simple to replace yourself, you could even modify the foam and shape to your taste. They don't have a gel insert (or anything like that). As Allen said, my 750 has one (older version), and is really hard, although I like a lot the shape. Re: [Nighthawk Lovers] Corbin seat
Javier has one. Stock they are as hard as a wooden chair, and I think give a harsh ride. Benefits are that they have a horn so you don't slide into the tank, and they are thinner in the front so your legs are not as splayed out. He got his recovered in vinyl and had foam inserted. It's much more comfortable now.
