Thank you, Bruce and Wolfgang

I did not know the \dosetfastregisterentry command. And with the
example given by Wolfgang I was able to understand better the
\setregistryentry command.

If it is possible, I would also like to know how to use a processor
for the page number in the \setregisterentry command. If not, could it
be implemented?

Hi, Felix

In linux, to find the GSUB/GPOS features of a opentype face you can
use the command

otfinfo -f fontname.ttf

otfinfo is part of the lcdf-typetools package

[NTG-context] mtxrun error with script pattern

2024-07-15 Thread Marcus Vinicius Mesquita
Dear List

When using:

mtxrun --script pattern --convert --path=./source --destination=./patterns

with the file hyph-pt.tex v. 1.4 proposed by Leo Araujo and Aline Benevides,
(see:
https://github.com/hyphenation/tex-hyphen/pull/62/commits/79f4327c7c94c435cfcb73ea61c001a525fc818e)

I got the following message:

…
mtx-patterns| converting language pt, file hyph-pt
mtx-patterns| using tex file hyph-pt.txt
lua error : function call:
...t/tex/texmf-context/scripts/context/lua/mtx-patterns.lua:331: bad
argument #1 to 'for iterator' (table expected, got string)

I tried also using the old version 1.3 and got the same message.

How can this error be corrected?
I'm using context version: 2024.06.21 23:45

Kind regards

Marcus Vinicius

2023-08-07 Thread Marcus Vinicius Mesquita
Thank you for the answers, Bruce, Pablo and Hraban. I was not aware of
ActualText.

I work on a manjaro linux, and I tested the example Pablo sent on
several programs:

mupdf-gl or mupdf: fails! [mupdf-gl is what I customarily use for its
blazing speed]
firefox: fails
vivaldi: passes
okular: passes
qpdfview: passes
evince: passes

But \pdfbackendactualtext is actually just what I needed since it can
be used also for other things like:

\starttext
what a \pdfbackendactualtext{\hyphenatedword{wonderful}}{wonderful} text
\stoptext

Best regards

[NTG-context] How to make words searchable without diacritics

2023-08-05 Thread Marcus Vinicius Mesquita
Dear List,

I have a lot of latin words in a document with the length of the
vowels indicated by diacritics, for example: fīlĭa.

Is it possible somehow to make these words searchable without the diacritics?
That is, if I make a search for filia in the final pdf file, fīlĭa
would also be found?

2021-11-16 Thread Marcus Vinicius Mesquita via ntg-context

complains that \resetleftparbox was never defined.
Using version: 2021.11.13

Yes, in texmf-local/web2c

Only mtxrun --generate

But even after now also running context --make,
when compiling the mwe, lmtx throws:

Hi,

After perusing the texmfcnf.lua file, I created a file with the same name
in my texmf-local folder, changing the settings for the node memory and
step size, but it did not affect the compilation of the original MWE
(without the enableexperiments switches), which still fails. What am I
missing?

Below the contents of the file:

return {
   content = {
directives = {
   ["luametatex.nodesize"] = { size = 6000, step =  60 },
}
  }
}

Dear list,

In the MWE below, ConTeXt lmtx throws an error with the message in the
title:

\starttext
\startluacode

local upperlimit = 9

context.starttabulate({ "|l|l|l|" })
for i=1,upperlimit do
context.NC()
context("word 1")
context.NC()
context("word 2")
context.NC()
context("word 3")
context.NC()
context.AR()
end
context.stoptabulate()

\stopluacode
\stoptext

But it compiles with no problems with MKIV.

context version: 2021.09.06 11:47

How to avoid this with lmtx?

Let's say we have two types of synonyms:

Is it possible to combine them in a unique list of merged Abrevs and

[NTG-context] Problem with colored font

2021-08-07 Thread Marcus Vinicius Mesquita via ntg-context
Dear list,

I'm trying to use the BabelStone Flags font, with colored flags of many
countries, available freely under the SIL Open Font License 1.1 at:
https://babelstone.co.uk/Fonts/Download/BabelStoneFlagsDual.ttf

In the MWE below, there is a spurious “at” in the first time that the
definition of the symbol for the Brazilian flag is used, but no problem
when the definition for the flag of Portugal is used or even when the
symbol for the Brazilian flag is used a second time. How to correct this
behavior?

MWE:

\definefontfeature[colored][colr=yes]
\definefontsynonym[flags][file:BabelStoneFlagsDual.ttf*colored at 7pt]
\definesymbol[BR][\getglyphdirect{flags}{\char"F0023}]
\definesymbol[PT][\getglyphdirect{flags}{\char"F00A1}]

\starttext

Brasil \symbol[BR]

Portugal \symbol[PT]

Brasil \symbol[BR]

\stoptext

the word contains the letters ó or ô.
We get zoolco instead of zoológico, and termtro instead of termômetro. What

Re: [NTG-context] Alphabet & color

2020-07-31 Thread Marcus Vinicius Mesquita
Hi, again

With the suggestions you gave I managed to obtain the functionality I need,
almost.
Somehow letters with accents like á ã é ó õ and also ç don't get the same
color of the base letters given in the colorfont.lfg below:

return {
 name = "coloralphabet",
 colorschemes = {
 default = {
 [1] = { "A", "a", "á", "ã", "å", "à", "ä" },
 [2] = { "b", "B" },
 [3] = { "c", "ç", "C", "Ç" },
 [4] = { "d", "D" },
 [5] = { "e", "E" },
 [6] = { "f", "F" },
 [7] = { "g", "G" },
 [8] = { "h", "H" },
 [9] = { "i", "í", "ì", "I", "Í", "Ì" },
 [10] = { "j", "J" },
 [11] = { "k", "K" },
 [12] = { "l", "L" },
 [13] = { "m", "M" },
 [14] = { "n", "ñ", "N", "Ñ" },
 [15] = { "o", "ó", "õ", "ö", "O", "Ó", "Õ", "Ö"  },
 [16] = { "p", "P" },
 [17] = { "q", "Q" },
 [18] = { "r", "R" },
 [19] = { "s", "S" },
 [20] = { "t", "T" },
 [21] = { "u", "ù", "ú", "ü", "U", "Ù", "Ú", "Ü" },
 [22] = { "v", "V" },
 [23] = { "w", "W" },
 [24] = { "x", "X" },
 [25] = { "y", "Y" },
 [26] = { "z", "Z" },
 },
 }
}

Dear List,

After updating ConTeXt to the last version, the command:

replies:
mtxrun  | unknown script 'fonts.lua' or 'mtx-fonts.lua'

mtxrun --version gives:

Re: [NTG-context] complete cover example

2020-05-12 Thread Marcus Vinicius Mesquita
Hi, Julian

I uploaded to github a cover I designed and created with ConTeXt some time
ago for a book I typesetted called “Cultivando o bem” for a buddhist
organization.
It is quite a complete example and illustrates the power of ConTeXt.
The comments in the code are sparse and not exactly detailed as you wish,
but I hope it will be useful to you.
My OS is linux and I use a Makefile to generate all the necessary files.

You can access the code at:

Re: [NTG-context] 404 error: Not found for first-setup.sh

2019-02-08 Thread Marcus Vinicius Mesquita
Hi, Pablo

Indeed, with curl I was able to download the file. Thank you.

In the wiki page about ConTeXt standalone (
https://wiki.contextgarden.net/ConTeXt_Standalone), the section about
single user installation suggests only the wget program, so I got stuck,
and perhaps we could avoid that for future users.

[NTG-context] Sorting registers method for "uppercase like lowercase, diacritics ignored"

2019-01-20 Thread Marcus Vinicius Mesquita
Dear list,

In the wiki page https://wiki.contextgarden.net/Registers it is said that:

- There’s no preset for the combination "uppercase like lowercase,
diacritics ignored", try "zm,pm,zc,zm,uc".

Well, I tried all possible permutations thereof, and also the predefined
methods, and none gives what my editor wants, which is just "uppercase like
lowercase, diacritics ignored".
See MWE attached.
Please, would somebody help me achieve the desired result?

[NTG-context] Hanging hyphen in the left margin in Portuguese

2016-10-17 Thread Marcus Vinicius Mesquita
Dear list,

In Portuguese many times we have words with one or two explicit hyphens;
for example: “tornar-nos-emos” (we shall become). When at the end of a
line, it
is mandatory to repeat the explicit hyphen both at the end and in the
beginning of the next line. I managed to do this using:

\definebreakpoints[portuguese]
\definebreakpoint [portuguese] [-] [type=5,left=-,right=-,middle=-]
\setbreakpoints[portuguese]

If I use
\setupalign[hz,hanging]
I get the first hyphen hanging in the right margin.

My question is: How do I manage to have the second hyphen in the beginning
of the new line also hanging to the left in the left margin?

TIA

[NTG-context] [NTG-ConTeXt] Wrong order of sections and subsections

2016-06-18 Thread Marcus Vinicius Mesquita
Dear List

In the wiki, http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Titles, there is a MWE of how to
flush section head data without typesetting it in the text. But then
\placelist gives a wrong order of sections and subsections:

1   First section
1.1   First subsection
2   Second section
1.2   Second subsection
2.1   First subsection

If \setuptexttexts is omitted and the argument placehead=yes instead of
placehead=hidden, then the order is correct:

1   First section
1.1   First subsection
1.2   Second subsection
2   Second section
2.1   First subsection

Am I missing something?
