RE: Bit OT - a Major Annoyance -- Cannot size the window (Goes from Min to Max)

2008-01-15 Thread Andy Crellin

I often see this after I've been using a laptop with a secondary screen.
After undocking the laptop and booting it up again, any applications
that were last running in the second screen when I shut down (and are
set to open in the last position they were in) are then opened up off
screen and you cannot move them with the mouse. The only way to get
them onto the laptop screen is to use the keyboard methods mentioned.

Which part of that document solved your problem? It seems to be
describing how to resize a window using a mouse, or alternatively, the
keyboard. There isn't any problem there that I can see...

Found solution myself, thru Google on searching for sizing the window

 Hi folks,

I have had this problem now and then with different softwares -- and I
think most of you might have experienced it as well -- where Window
either
covers the whole screen (Max mode) or just stays on Taskbar (Min
mode).
This is quite annoying and usually I restore the whole desktop to an
earlier date. This time even that trick is not working. The program is
 PowerDeskPro 6 on Vista Ultimate.

Does anyone know any registry entry that might fix this? Or any other
solution? (Hard to search on Google due to difficulty in phrasing the
 problem in unique words...)

RE: Bit OT - a Major Annoyance -- Cannot size the window (Goes from Min to Max)

2008-01-15 Thread Andy Crellin

Yes - but when you maximise the window is fits to the only currently
available screen (i.e. my visible laptop screen). If you Minimise it, it
drops to the task bar as usual. But if you Restore it, it goes back to
its original position (i.e. off screen) and looks like it has been
Minimised because the only thing you can see is the task bar item.

This may not be exactly what is happening (although a restore to a
previous desktop might solve this as well) but is looks like the same
symptoms.

Cheers,

Andy.

2008-01-15 Thread Ajay Kulsh

Ken,

The portion of the webpage that helped me see the mid-size window had to do
with how to Move the window using keyboard. The midsize (restore in many
cases) window was *totally hidden* in the top left corner and became visible
when I could move it. Then I resized that tiny window. So Sizing and Moving
were sort of intertwined.

P.S.: No, I never do a reinstall so such minor issues.

Re: Bit OT - a Major Annoyance -- Cannot size the window (Goes from Min to Max)

2008-01-15 Thread Kurt Buff
I have found, with several older apps, especially the photo editor
from MS Office97, that once in a while they move offscreen.

They show in the task bar, but they are either offscreen, or maximized
- no inbetween.

So, I hit the restore button (the one between the the minimize and X
buttons at the upper left of the app) while it's minimized, and yes,
it's the one that puts it into resizable mode. This causes the app to
disappear.

However, the app still has focus.

At that point, if you press ALT+Spacebar, then the 'm' key, then any
of the cursor/arrow keys, and then the enter key, the app will
magically reappear on the screen, and behave normally for a while
after that.

It's strange behavior, but the above procedure has always fixed it for me.

 Hi folks,

I have had this problem now and then with different softwares -- and I think
most of you might have experienced it as well -- where Window either covers
the whole screen (Max mode) or just stays on Taskbar (Min mode). This is
quite annoying and usually I restore the whole desktop to an earlier date.
This time even that trick is not working. The program is PowerDeskPro 6 on
 Vista Ultimate.

Does anyone know any registry entry that might fix this? Or any other
solution? (Hard to search on Google due to difficulty in phrasing the
 problem in unique words...)

Found solution myself, thru Google on searching for sizing the window
(other similar phrases had not helped.)
In case any of you are interested, this website has the solution -- without
any registry key entry:

Which part of that document solved your problem? It seems to be describing how
to resize a window using a mouse, or alternatively, the keyboard. There isn't
any problem there that I can see...
