[old-chevy-truck] 261 full flow question
I am finishing up my current sit up, adding a dual spin on oil filter I have left over from a old project, anyway does anyone know which is the output hole for the oil lines? Find lots of documentation on adding and or hooking up the oil filters but none state oil out and oil in? Nice thing to know on adding a filter I would think. By the way my engine is a 62 261 full flow with the large ports. Thanks in advance for your help. Ole Chevy and GMC trucks rule! Re: [old-chevy-truck] 261 full flow question
OK The oil pressure gage sender hooks on at the lower side of the block in the back. Sometimes you have to add a fitting or a tee, but this is the the supply side. The supplied side is in the side of the block and you have to remove a plug. Why do you need a dual spin on filter when only about 10% of the oil gets filtered? Are you running a PCV in conjunction with the filter? Mr. Gasket makes a spin on adapter that has an arrow to indicate flow. otherwise the oil goes through the middle of the filter,, through the fabric, and the outer side is going bck to the engine. neals49 [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I am finishing up my current sit up, adding a dual spin on oil filter I have left over from a old project, anyway does anyone know which is the output hole for the oil lines? Doesn't matter. They are left and right thread, opposite ends, so that when you adjust your toe-in by twisting the tie-rod, both ends are moving in/out together. Keep asking. [old-chevy-truck] Re: 261 full flow question
I am looking for the oil flow direction of the motor not the spin filter as yes it is marked however the motor is not. The gauge can also be plumbed in at either spot if using a filter or by pass line. As for only 10% oil filtering my engine is a full flow 261 which will filter 100% of the filter, and I had the filter laying around collecting dust. So back to the orginal question. Which is in and which is out? I have looked through all my books the show it but dont say which is which. Neal, Ole Chevy and GMC trucks rule! Depends on what you want to pay. California Car Cover, www.calcarcover.com/ makes a quality cover but is probably going to be pretty pricey for an all weather cover. --- On Wed, 8/13/08, rnigel [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: From: rnigel [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [old-chevy-truck] Truck cover To: old-chevy-truck@yahoogroups.com Date: Wednesday, August 13, 2008, 8:32 AM My truck has to stay outside for a couple of months until its garage gets cleaned out. RE: [old-chevy-truck] 261 full flow question
The vintage 261 he's referring to is FULL FLOW and 100% gets filtered under pressure. The large port 261 is going to be different than the 235, if that's what you're thinking. That includes the oil pressure gauge.
