yes,

each participant that enables audio/video produces each own stream.
I am not aware of any Web-Conferencing at this point that melts the
audio/video of all users into a single stream.

Re: Bandwidth / hardware question

2010-10-15 Thread Anthony Harris
Hi again Sabastian,

let me ask - on the audio+video stream is it an exponential increase?

ie: x^x?

so if one person is in it'd be 70K, 2 people would be 280K (4 video streams, 2
for person A, 2 for person B (their own and the other persons), etc. or is it
x^(x-1) (I'm not sure if the person seeing themselves is seeing themselves from
the server or if the plugin is showing local only)

And is it KBytes or Kbits? (I'm assuming bytes at this point)

And what if there is just audio?

The 500-1000 concurrent users on the dual core cpu 4g ram, is that text chat,
audio chat, video chat? etc.

Thanks again!

-Tony

Hallo Tony,

The bandwidth per Audio+Video Stream is around 70KB
The bandwidth per Audio+Video Stream is around 90KB

but it really depends on your usage, or if you let all values by default.

Matti,

You asked why it has form n * (n-1). IMHO, the server gets the stream
from every user, and sends this stream to every user except the stream
producer. Each user watches local video of herself.

Thanks.

About bandwidth

To Alexei's calculation 12*(12-1)...why isnt it like this kb *
(users-1) * (users-1)
So kb*11*11 because in 12people conference I am sending to 11 people,
and so is everyone else. Where does that first 12 in your calculation
come from?

Someone give the perfect answer for this setup: 5 people in a
conference room with audio only. My opinion is with best quality: 16kb
* 4 * 4 or am I calculating something terribly wrong :D ?

Re: Bandwidth clarification

2009-10-21 Thread Peder

Ok, so this means that for ,say, a 4 users conference session, where
each uses the default quality setting (erroneously displayed in the
login page as 16kBit, but in reality 48 assuming default config.xml,
right?) each client will need 3*some-value-greater-than-48 (the b/w
page says 10 up and 16 down so I guess the download speed is upload
+some value) down and 48kBit up and the server will need 4*3*svgt48 up
and 4*48 down.

Re: Bandwidth clarification

2009-10-21 Thread Sebastian Wagner
hi,

the values from the config.xml are right for a 1:1 meeting where I broadcast
my audio/video and the other person broadcasts its audio/video in a
Conference Room at default settings.

As soon as multiple users are in a room and .. for example one person shares
nothing, the other only audio, the third one resize the video pod to 640x480
and then republishes the webcam... you see there are many way to influence
it either positive ... but also negative: You can make the Video-Pods
Default sizes much smaller and you will see that the bandwidth usage will be
smaller.

So the problem here is that I can only get you numbers depending on a
certain scenario.
