Re: [OPSAWG] CALL FOR ADOPTION: Attachment circuits work

2023-10-25 Thread Joe Clarke (jclarke)
The call for adoption has concluded. Unfortunately, the hold down on draft
submissions is now in effect. All part of my evil plan, I guess 😊.

Thanks to all that responded with comments. Despite the fact the work consists
of four documents, there does appear to be considerable support for tackling
this effort with upsides in both complementing IETF work (e.g., with LxNM) as
well as O-RAN.

Authors, when able, please resubmit the drafts as draft-ietf-opsawg-…-00
(replacing each of the original drafts respectively). The chairs would also
appreciate (from authors as well as the broader WG) suggestions for a shepherd
as this work progresses. A reminder to the WG that the authors and
contributors replied that there is no known IPR covering this work.

Thanks.

Joe

At IETF 117, we asked the room if there was support to adopt the four
attachment circuits drafts. The room had support (of the 75 present, 18 raised
hands for adoption interest, 1 was opposed), but the list is where it counts.

While the drafts aren’t too terribly long, there are four of them, so we will
do a three week call for adoption. Please review and comment on-list on the
following indicating whether you support their adoption or not:

· draft-boro-opsawg-teas-common-ac
· draft-boro-opsawg-teas-attachment-circuit
· draft-boro-opsawg-ntw-attachment-circuit
· draft-boro-opsawg-ac-lxsm-lxnm-glue

Re: [OPSAWG] CALL FOR ADOPTION: Attachment circuits work

2023-10-12 Thread Wubo (lana)
Hi Joe, all,

I support the adoption of the four drafts. These four drafts are a good
supplement to the existing VPN and IETF Network Slice service models.
Decoupling ACs from service models improves service deployment flexibility. And
the network slice service model has already added ac-as-service method.

I have one review comment for draft-boro-opsawg-ac-lxsm-lxnm-glue. I see that a
leaf-list of "ac-ref" is defined for lxsm:site-network-access/
lxnm:vpn-network-access, which I can understand the 1:1 mapping relationship
between site-network-access/vpn-network-access and AC, for one-to-many mapping,
I would suggest to give some examples to clarify the scenarios.

Thanks,
Bo Wu

Thanks for asking, Joe.

Yes, I think that the WG should be working on ACs. Yes, I think that this
set of I-Ds form the basis for what needs to be covered.

I am *slightly* queasy about there being four documents. I'd be happier if
some consolidation were possible. But I have no concrete suggestions, and if
the authors/WG think that this is the right number then I will support that
decision.

Hi All,

I support this work.

The importance of this work is to eliminate the ambiguity how to express a
connection between two network nodes in order to exchange the information
between two parties, especially for the purpose of an orchestration. This
impacts not only to the other IETF work, but also to the other SDOs'.
3GPP SA5 refers this work in their Technical Specification even though these
are still individual drafts.

All the best,

Re: [OPSAWG] CALL FOR ADOPTION: Attachment circuits work

2023-10-04 Thread Krzysztof Szarkowicz
I vote ’yes’ for adoption.

It is important work to standardize attachment circuits, and decouple the
attachment circuits model from service models.

Thanks,
Krzysztof

Asunto: [OPSAWG] CALL FOR ADOPTION: Attachment circuits work

At IETF 117, we asked the room if there was support to adopt the four
attachment circuits drafts. The room had support (of the 75 present, 18 raised
hands for adoption interest, 1 was opposed), but the list is where it counts.

While the drafts aren't too terribly long, there are four of them, so we will
do a three week call for adoption. Please review and comment on-list on the
following indicating whether you support their adoption or not:

  *   draft-boro-opsawg-teas-common-ac
  *   draft-boro-opsawg-teas-attachment-circuit
  *   draft-boro-opsawg-ntw-attachment-circuit
  *   draft-boro-opsawg-ac-lxsm-lxnm-glue

The authors and contributors have all signaled there is no known IPR covering
this work.

The CfA will end on October 23.

Thanks.
