[otrs] Users access and multiple queues

2012-10-25 Thread Andrew Meyer
I just had a user come up to me and state that when he logs in, he gets the
dashboard, but then he clicks on Queue Views (default for this user is the
Helpdesk) it won't display the tickets in the queue. He has permission to
access it.

Also is it possible to have multiple queues for multiple emails addresses? In
other words can I have a...@example.commailto:a...@example.com going to queue
abc and x...@example.commailto:x...@example.com going to queue xyz but all on
the same system?

[otrs] Mysql Help

2012-09-25 Thread Andrew Meyer
I need to close about 25,000 tickets all with the same email address. I was
hoping to do this within the MySQL Workbench or at the command line.
Can anyone assist me in executing this command?

Thanks,

Not sure then to be honest, the problem isn't with OTRS it's with your linux
distribution/installation. Fedora is the bleeding edge so probably not a good
choice for a production server where you need stability.

If you have no backups of the system then my next port of call would be to
first build a test system using the same OS and see if you can replicate the
problem on there, if you can then great - problem found, if you can't then it
means that there is something different with the configuration of that linux
test system than with your production system, so you can then try and hunt for
config changes or I'd be inclined to backup OTRS, reinstall linux (if you want
to stick with Redhat-flavour then I'd go for CentOS) and then reinstall OTRS -
depending on how critical OTRS is to your environment.

So the actual error preventing it from loading is:

compilation aborted at /usr/share/perl5/FindBin.pm line 205

The second error on line 66 in Defaults.pm (or at least in my copy) refers to:
  use FindBin qw($Bin);

So this is OTRS trying to find the path to bin directory from where script was
invoked, and for some reason it can't locate it.

What version/flavour of CentOS/RedHat? and where did you get the current Perl
and HTTPD packages from (any additional repos added?) and I assume you don't
have any snapshots/backups of the system itself before you applied the updates
that you could roll back to?

Also have you ran the
/opt/otrs/bin/otrs.CheckModules.plhttp://otrs.CheckModules.pl script to make
sure that all of your other Perl modules are present and correct?

This has something to do with OTRS kernel at this point I would think.

The second error on line 66 in Defaults.pm (or at least in my copy) refers to:
  use FindBin qw($Bin);

Also have you ran the
/opt/otrs/bin/otrs.CheckModules.plhttp://otrs.CheckModules.pl script to make
sure that all of your other Perl modules are present

am running on the beta still and am not sure what to do. I know I need
to upgrade but the system is running fine. I am working on replicating
my MySQL database, to another server but haven't had time to do setup a
new webserver. Is this an problem with the beta? Is there another way

Hi Andrew, I think that information are not enough for an hints. BTW, we
are assuming that you are using a RedHat like system (having SELinux),
right ? but neither this will be enough... did you try with some sniffer
(tcpdump) or with netstat to see if connection are in SYN_RECV or
similar states ? there is routing between PC and OTRS (and route are OK
? is there dinamic routing procols?) ? is there other appliance ? dmesg
and nic stats are reporting issues ?

Let us know

to upgrade but the system is running fine. I am working on replicating
my MySQL database, to another server but haven't had time to do setup a
new webserver. Is this an problem with the beta? Is there another way
to fix this??

2011-01-11 Thread Andrew Meyer
Ok,

I think I got my problem worked out as far as this goes...

Now I face another problem trying to get an Apache Redirect working...

If I put in:

'Redirect permanent / /otrs/index.pl' it doesn't work.

I tried using the full http path, that worked for a bit. I'm not sure
what is happening. Trying to check the logs...coming up empty handed.

Hi Andrew,

Well, it's discussed here, in setting up the cron jobs -
http://doc.otrs.org/2.4/en/html/x531.html#cronjobs - it discusses which jobs
there are and what their tasks are.

Actually you can also set up processing email via procmail -
http://doc.otrs.org/2.4/en/html/x1590.html#email-receiving-cmd .
You'll need a bit more configuration for it but it will enable you to process
mail immediately. You'll need to receive the mail on your OTRS box and then you
can pipe it directly into OTRS. You should configure your existing mail server
to bounce mail for OTRS to the OTRS machine.

[otrs] restoring a backup to a new OTRS install

2008-03-02 Thread Andrew Meyer
A couple of weeks ago, my OTRS 2.0.4 installation crashed, and became
completely unrecoverable. Luckily I had a backup from 3 days prior to
it. It is a mysqldump. I was wondering if it was possible to restore
this into mysql and then upgrade the database to 2.2.5 spec, do another
mysql dump and restore to the new 2.2.5 install.

If anyone can help me, can you give me the commands I will need to do?
I am not very good at mysql.

BTW - the new install is on a totally different server. I'm not sure if
they are using the same name for the databases though.

[otrs] accessing OTRS from outside

2008-03-01 Thread Andrew Meyer
We have our routers setup so that OTRS can be accessed from anywhere.
But when we go to the web address
http://helpdesk.company.com/otrs2.index.pl it doesn't work. Also, I
can't get Apache to automatically go to that address. When you type in
helpdesk internally, it goes to the otrs2 dir, but doesn't bring up the
index.pl, not sure why. I have changed the settings in apache2.conf to
make the default web dir /var/www/otrs2, I am on Debian 4.0r2.

Thanks,

[otrs] OTRS 2.2.4

2008-02-07 Thread Andrew Meyer
I know have asked this before but I have 2 installation of OTRS on the

I have my version 2.0.4 provided by Debian 4.0

I would like to get the latest working from scratch, my only concern is
if I use 2.2.4, do I need to anything to the database? I also don't
know where the apache Directory tags are listed. I tried migrating from
one server to another without taking down the first, but that didn't
work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Yes, you need to run all applicable database scripts (in order). See
the UPGRADING file. You could maybe also use the OTRS 2.2.4 package
for lenny/sid instead of installing from source:

[otrs] extra packages

2008-01-28 Thread Andrew Meyer
Among the extra packages that come with OTRS that you can install via
the Admin Preferences, why do a good amount of them fail to install?

Specifically:

Calendar

FAQ

File Manager

Survey

Time Accounting

WebMail

Web Watcher

Nils,
Emails aren't being sent out with ticket number in them. I am working

The ticket numbers seemed to have stopped? What does that mean
exactly? Did the number stop increasing? Is there no ticket number in
the subject of outgoing e-mails? Have you checked the changelogs to
see if maybe a newer version of OTRS might fix this? (The current

Also, how do I increase the size of the attachments going in and out

Do you use the database for attachments? If so, you probably need to
increase max_packet_size in the MySQL config.

[otrs] signature of user in response email

2007-10-11 Thread Andrew Meyer
Hi,

Lately my company has been getting some complaints that they are unaware
of who is responding to the email they send into the helpdesk. When a
Helpdesk tech responds to a ticket his or her name is put down at the
very bottom of the email instead of putting it right at the top where
the response goes. Is there a way to fix so that when I Empty Answer,
it put my name at the top after it says:

 Dear Person,

Blah blah blah

Thank you for using the helpdesk,

Someones Name

[otrs] installing otrs2

2007-08-06 Thread Andrew Meyer
Hi,

It seems that every time I send an email to this mailing nothing gets
accomplished. But I am trying to go live with otrs2 at my company, and
can't figure out why every time I install the package, it doesn't work.
I am using Debian Etch, with OTRS2. If I install with mysql, it says
there is some database problem. I have the mysql-client installed. If
its postgresql, it doesn't install the user for administering the
application. Could someone please advise me on this? I would like to
go live this week.

Thanks for you help,

[otrs] RE: otrs Digest, Vol 48, Issue 33

2007-07-12 Thread Andrew Meyer
Hi,
I emailed a few days ago about sending a receiving email within the
system. I think I got it setup, but the emails come in and then go out
6 hours after. I am not getting notifications when a new one comes in.
Is this normal? Do I need to change something in the config?

[otrs] setting up to email out

2007-07-10 Thread Andrew Meyer
What files do I need to edit to get OTRS to send email out? I can't
seem to find it in the Config.pm file. Where is it? I'm on Debian
Etch.
