[packman] Mplayer opensuse 13.2 i586
Dear stuff of packman, unfortunately your newest version of mplayer (MPlayer-1.2.r37548-5.3.i586.rpm) does not work on opensuse 13.2 i586. So I compiled the newest sourcecode of mplayer (mplayer-1.3.0) on a opensuse 13.2 i586 platform with a nvidia grafic card and on a opensuse 13.2 i586 platform on a notebook with a intel 4000 HD grafic chip and nvidia optimus grafic chip. If you like I can send you the compiled version of mplayer. with best regards Michael Metz-Heimburg ___ Packman mailing list Packman@links2linux.de http://lists.links2linux.de/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/packman

Thank you, Carsten -- I thing you're missing the capability of Makefiles. It takes several _hours_ to do `make' a second time on my machine with the latest glibc sources (and no files are recompiled a second time). [packman] MPlayer-1.1.1+r36500 now requires arts - is this intentional?
Hi there, I was just trying to update to the latest version of MPlayer on openSUSE-12.3 (x86_64): $ rpm -Uvh --test /nobackup/update-mirror/packman/suse/12.3/Essentials/x86_64/MPlayer-1.1.1+r36500-1.2.x86_64.rpm error: Failed dependencies: libartsc.so.0()(64bit) is needed by MPlayer-1.1.1+r36500-1.2.x86_64 zypper in MPlayer-1.1.1+r36500-1.2 would of course pull in any needed packages, but, to be honest, I'd rather stay away from having this arts stuff back on my systems... Also, arts will pull in qt3... This doesn't look proper to me. Another thing I saw is that zypper believes that my currently installed version of MPlayer 1.1+35127-4.1 has a higher version number than the newer one: $ zypper in MPlayer-1.1.1+r36500-1.2 Loading repository data... Re: [packman] MPlayer issues with DivX and VDPAU
I think you mean smplayer forces ffodivxvdpau and not mplayer ? With mplayer, I can play divx and xvid videos with no problem with a GeForce GTX260 and also a nVidia GeForce 8400GS, neither of which are feature set C. (I note feature set C is needed to play divx and xvid with vdpau). My wife's PC has a GeForce GT218 (which is feature set c) and it can play with vdpau and mplayer using 'ffodivxvdpau' both divx and vdpau movies fine. Lee aka oldcpu On 01/21/2011 01:54 PM, Carlos H. Hi, Is there any chance to build MPlayer with support for VA-API? Nows from MPlayer site: Newer ATI cards and Intel ATOM owners on Linux can utilize the VA-API hardware accelerated H.264, WMV3/VC1, MPEG2 and MPEG4 playback using MPlayer. Instructions can be found at http://www.splitted-desktop.com/~gbeauchesne/mplayer-vaapi/http://www.splitted-desktop.com/%7Egbeauchesne/mplayer-vaapi/ To make it real: MPlayer needs VA-API patches and need to be build against libvahttp://www.splitted-desktop.com/%7Egbeauchesne/libva/. Then we need install xvba-videohttp://www.splitted-desktop.com/%7Egbeauchesne/xvba-video/(XvBA backend for VA API - for fglrx driver) and/or vdpau-video http://www.splitted-desktop.com/%7Egbeauchesne/vdpau-video/(VDPAU backend for VA API - for nvidia driver).
