RE: archos USB cable?
Hi Nick, First, there's no reason why you couldn't move the files to the hard drive after you've recorded them. I don't however know if the recorder has only a mice or whether it also has line-in recording. Assuming it does have line-in recording, then you should be away. You could feed the revox, (lucky ard, straight to the archos and record your blues programme straight onto it. However you'd struggle with the timed recording bit, but I'm sure you realised that. Re: Archos and recording from external source
I have the 15 gig recorder. I never could get rockbox to talk for me when I loaded it. I became very frustrated with it. I would hit the menu and record would be the first choice. I had someone set it up for external in the menus and that is what comes up when I choose record. I just hit play twice after the menu button. I have only missed a few shows before when I thought it was recording but for some reason didn't load on the drive. I could hear the audio but don't know why it didn't go on the hard drive. problems with volume and distortion
First, no matter how many times I set volume the play control volume keeps going to zero instead of staying at 50%. Second, when the PC is turned up (even a little) there's a bad humming sound and Jaws is distorted. I checked my speakers and it doesn't look to me like there's really a short; just this hum and this speech distortion. I've re-started and tried Jaws 4 and 5, and whether playing music or reading there's a hiss when turned down and this sound when turning up the volume that sounds like when someone's talking into a mike and gets feedback. Is there a place, maybe in programs, that should be looked at as far as PC sound? Thanks. Re: Noise Reduction Sound Forge Dilemma; Solution Needed
Graham, In the SF6, after selecting the noise you wont to apply on the whole sound file, press alt+d, up arrow once, right arrow and from the directX plug-ins list choose noise reduction. Then choose preset you think is the best and press alt+s. Another dialog pop-ups where you can specify the time interval of your file on which you wish to apply the noise reduction. When you have done it, tab to ok and press enter. Now you are again in noise reduction dialog box and can hear how the file sounds. I suppose the same is in the SF7. Good luck! The books from audible are not mp3's, but you can use goldwave to convert them to mp3's. Audible uses its own file format, but Sarai is right, audible is accessible, so long as one knows how to navigate forms and use one's screen reader's access features. RE: Questions about audible.com
Wrong and fairly wrong. The books are not MP3's, they are encoded, so that they can't be played on most MP3 players. You used to be able to convert them to MP3, but not now, because of the latest version of audible manager. Audible manager is fairly accessible, though sometimes you have fun and games downloading stuff. Rob --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
