Re: Sirius Radio and XM; what I like
There is a gospel music station. It is somewhere in the fifties probably 54. Sirius has more sports coverage than XM, in fact that's why I switched. I don't know that there is a lot of difference in the music streams, but there are more info and sports streams on Sirius. Trouble is you can only stream the music channels. If you have a broadband connection Sirius is offering a three day free trial of the music streams. - Original Message - From: Mister Lynn White [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: 'PC audio discussion list. Re: Cool Edit Pro version 2.0 versus 2.1
That is correct, in terms of current products. However, while obsolete, the earlier CEP versions still work quite satisfactorily for many people from what I hear. Both versions 2.0 and 2.1 are readily available on e-bay and perhaps from software liquidators or remainder houses. I am relatively sure that for my needs, probably any version of CEP is sufficient and suitable, and may be available more cheaply than Audition. But I am curious about version differences, nonetheless, and that is why I was asking any who are familiar with both CEP 2.0 and 2.1 if they know what the differences are. (I am pretty sure that version 2.1 was the last upgrade before Adobe bought Syntrillium. Not sure, though, if when Adobe re-branded CEP they added or deleted capability -- or whatever! For all I know, they could have rewritten it completely by now.) RE: XM Radio
Thanks Mimi and others, Based on your positive remarks and having held off as long as I could I, too, have taken the plunge and ordered my XM PCR today. Mine is coming via ground shipping so don't anticipate seeing it for over a week. Will let you know how it goes. I was also very grateful for the inadvertent posting of the text channel line-up to this list. In the meantime, can someone tell me if there are Jaws scripts for the PCR software and if so where these can be downloaded? Thanks a lot. I see that I will have to activate it and plan to do that online. The activation FAQ says that I can select chanel 0 and get the receiver id. Does this work with Window-Eyes? Will I need sighted help or can I do it all with the screen reader? Any thing that you are aware of that I should watch for? Also, I have looked a little bit at the program schedule on xm-radio.com. Is that the best place to find out what is on when? Is the program guide pretty accessible? Thank you so much for all of your help. I am excited about getting started with satellite radio. When you listen to audible books, are you listening to the person reading them,or the computer voice? Are you saying that the BookPort will remember where you stop listening to an mp3 file and start at that spot when you resume listening? Yes, this is what happens. You can resume at a specific spot (all files have a resume point held in memory for them), and you can put bookmarks in files at any point. The two are separate. That is, there is a temporary bookmark for each file where it's been stopped, as well as permanent bookmarks which can be put at specific places and removed. Also, the BC mentioned having an update feature for updating the software. Nothing was specifically said about this for the BP, although I realize it can be done. Is it more difficult to update software/firmware on the BP than on the BC? No, the BP's firmware and software can be updated easily. When you start the program, it can check for updates automatically or you can hit the check updates button, as you wish. Both software and firmware updates are checked for and downloaded. I, too, wish there was a unit with Eloquence. However, if you're willing to put up with delay (I'm not), you can buy an MP3 player, convert your text files to MP3 with one of the converters, and have eloquence reading your texts to you. As I said, though, this process does take a few minutes per book, as well as resulting in files which take up more space than text files.
