Re: rhapsody

2004-08-15 Thread Jorge Mojica
yeah, that's probably the same thing. because comcast has a link on i't's
page called comcast-rhapsody, I didn't know what it was so went to it and
found out.
they have a freee trial thing that you can check out. I think it's `worth
it, but it's dam annoying as well. the quality is perfect, it's fast, and
pretty accomidating they claim to have the largest music base, over 30,000
artists, and so on and so on.
and with the use of total recorder you can record stuff at an accelerated
rate. unfortunately total recorder doesn't support their title bar or
whatever, I keep meaning to write to them to find out if they are planning
to support it in the future.
weren't able to get it to do anything? so you downloaded the prog right?
you have to use your jaws cursor to left click on something so that when you
take the jaws cursor off you'll be using the virtual cursor to go down the
page like any other webpage.

Media Jukebox

2004-08-15 Thread Rick
Hi;
I recently have been trying to convert some wav files to mp3. I have lost
my ability to play mp3 files. One of two things come to mind. First, a few
days ago I listened to audio on a website that had a pop up telling me some
files needed to be reassociated to Quick Time and I clicked on the button to
do it. Next, I downloaded a couple of programs to convert wav to mp3
format. The messege I get is that Music Jukebox cannot be found. The
JRIVER folder is there with the mediajukebox exe but I clicked directly on
the exe module and it tells me the program is not correctly installed for
this user - that's me. So, all my mp3 files try to use the media jukebox
to play and wont play. Even one I converted from wav has it listed in the
find dialog box as a mediajukebox.file type.

Do I need to download a fresh copy of Jukebox and, if so, where is a good
source that wont mess with my machine? Or, can I just tweek some settings
to use media player as the way to make and create mp3 files?
I've been looking in the Windows Control Panel but haven't found anything to
set yet.
Any suggestions?
Thanks:

HI YOU CAN HAVE BOTH TYPES JUST AS LONG AS YOU DON'T EXCEED THE CD SPACE. MP3 TAKE A

2004-08-15 Thread Leonard Salinas
as I mentioned in a previous message, it happens with nero 6.3.0.3 and
above. to fix it, press alt+f then f for preferences and then press
ctrl+tab four times to move to the expert features page and then tab once
to the checkbox use overburn when using disc-at-once. press the spacebar to
uncheck it. tab to the ok and press enter.

doc;
I'm running windows 98 and can't figure out how to reassign the program to
run an mp3 file. I know I've seen a dialog box to select a program to
execute file types when I have clicked on a file that did not what program
to run to open it. So, it's here some where, I just can't seem to find it.

if you are using jfw, route jaws to pc and down arrow through the page and
you will see information about your layout. the amount of time of the
tracks in the layout and how many tracks are in the layout ect. if its a
data cd, you will see how much space the data is taking up so far.

Re: disc info for nero what does it do?

2004-08-15 Thread Kevin Lloyd
Hi Sunshine.

Control + I will open the disc info dialogue. If you have a disc in your CD
burner, Nero will tell you the available capacity of the disc, whether it is
recordable or rewritable and a few other pieces of information.

To check how much disc space your current project will occupy, press alt + F
and then the letter I to open up the CD-Info dialogue. You'll need to use
your JAWS or screen review cursor to read the information.

An HD burn is a hard drive back up.

Recording Real Player streams

Hello, I bet this question has been asked before, and I already know how to
record Real Player using the what you hear option, but I'm wondering if
there is an accessible program which will record the stream without the use
of the what you hear option, just in case my sound card makes any
interference clicks or other noises?
Thanks a lot.

a few Nero questions

2004-08-15 Thread Susan Wojtecki
Hi listers,
So far my experience with Nero has been limited to burning audio CD's via
the wizard using Nero 5.5. I would like to try to do more and have
admittedly not read through the documentation as thoroughly as I need to,
but here are my questions so far.
1. If I want to burn an MP3 CD for playing on my PC, am I correct to think
that I have to burn either a data or possibly other format? What option
should I choose and can I do this via the wizard or is it best to use Disk
At Once?
2. Can Nero burn .wma files successfully for later playback? I have about
eight hours of archived .wma files from a class and would like to burn them
onto a single CD, is this doable?
3. What exactly is a mixed CD and are there suggestions for doing this
successfully?
4. I need to find an HD backup utility and wondered about the pros and cons
for doing this with Nero. Has anyone had experience with this? How much
control would I be given of the order in which files are backed upetc., and
how might i potentially determine the number of disks needed for such a job
on a 20gig hard drive?

My apologies if these questions are somewhat beyond the scope of this list.
Any replies on or off list are very much appreciated and will give me
further direction as I explore the help files.

I had trouble getting my archos to work with the software. I never could get

turn it on. It used to do that right away. I don't know what is wrong with
it or how to fix it. Anyone have any suggestions.

Yes, but doesn't that still use the capture from the sound card itself, and
thus would record Jaws and other interference? I can mute Jaws, but every
once in a while, the sound card makes these noises, not Windows sounds
either.
Thanks a lot.

Ah! see what you're getting at! I can't see any way round that problem if
you're recording from software as the software speech uses the same audio
channel as the Internet audio stream, only ways round this to my knowledge
is either to use a hardware voice synthesizer or use 2 sound cards (have
JFW coming out of one and the audio stream on the Internet out the other.)

Total Recorder can be configured to turn off all system sounds so that they
will not be heard during recording (this is the default).

2004-08-15 Thread Susan Wojtecki
Matthew,There is a box to uncheck Windows sounds, but using software speech
it would almost certainly pick up JAWS, at least that is my experience
running Windows 98. I think I once heard of someone using XP to do what you
want, but most people seem to use hardware speech, and even then you may
have some configuring to do because of the virtual driver ... I know this is
true for Winamp.

Hi Susan. To burn MP3's with Nero, you need to burn a data CD. A mixed

Re: a few Nero questions

2004-08-15 Thread RQJ
Hi again Susan,
Iam currently using Nero 5.5,
and, yes you can burn mp3's to disk to listen to on your pc.
Just use the wizard, and burn it as a data disk.
As far as a backup program, I use Karen's replicator.
I use it to backup files and folders from various locations on my hard
drives.
These are all backed up to a location, which I burn to disk with Nero
everyday.
Amixed mode cd contains for example, some data files, and audio files.
I haven't used this for some time, so I would have to check it out again,
before I can tell you any more.

mlb and dropout

2004-08-15 Thread Don Bishop
Just wondering if others have noticed more dropout when listening to baseball games on
mlb gameday audio? We moved and I had to switch from earthlink dsl
to sbcglobal dsl. Don't know if it's because I'm using it more now or if sbcglobal
has a tighter bandwidth or what, but the games seem to drop out a lot more than
I remember. REally iritating when it drops right in the middle of an exciting play.

Also, does anyone know how to change your player and speed preferences once you've set
them up?

Finally, I get a message every day or two that real player needs additional software
to play this stream and then proceeds to check for it. It nereports that no
software update is available and there's an ok button. When this happens, I get no
audio and have to click on the station link again to get it started. It
happens only every so often as though it only checks for updates periodically. Anyone
else noticing this?

Thanks,

Don

Re: disc info for nero what does it do?

2004-08-15 Thread Leonard Salinas
O.K. I believe we have misunderstood what people were talking about as far
as the cd info. there's actually two different ifno pages. the first one
can be brought up with ctrl+i and this requires that a cd be in the first
cd-rom in your system. if its an audio cd, you will land on the ok button.
tab three times and you will see audio cd and hear opened. here, you can
down arrow and first see the session 1 and the amount in megabytes i.e.
session 01 (700 mb) [this is the amount on the cd in megabytes] and
depending on the number of tracks you should hear the number of items. down
arrow once more you will see track 01: 00:02.00 (start) and the length of
the track(this is whats on my cd your values will differ) 2:48.68. on the
next line you should see track 02: 2:48.68. notice that the beginning value
is 2 seconds more then the end of track one, giving you 2 seconds of
silence between tracks. there is the word audio on each line past the
length of each track which is the type column. so if you move all the way
down to the last track and I have 21 tracks on my audio cd, I see track 21:
68:17.32 (the start time of the track) and the length otf the track of
1:05.20, so if you add those two numbers, you will get the length of the cd.

For a data cd, when you tab three times from the ok button cd-rom. down
arrow once and this line hasthe session number and the amount of data on
the cd in megabytes. the next line contains the track number the beginning
marker and ending marker in minutes:seconds:.frame, the amount in megabytes
on the cd and the type .

Now, the other cd info is actually the layout info broght up with alt+f
then i. this is the information you need when wanting to know how much
space you have used up in the layout before you have filled the cd. for
this you just need to look at it when you are creating a cd. you have to
use your jfw cursor or the mouse cursor for window-eyes users.

Hi,
I couldn't find a time designation in the info dialogue

It works, several people have tried it. I can't get it to work, but can
still use the player.
