GoldWave 5.8 question?
Hello. Have a question about splitting a long 4 GB .WAV file in Gold Wave. This file was created using Total Recorder Pro 4.5 and WinAmp. It has no silence for GoldWave to automatically drop Q marks. Basically it is a long DJ mix of music tracks. I could follow the excellent instructions outlined by an individual on the list (Andy Logue), but it would take me way to long to listen to over 6 hours worth of music and manually drop Q marks for splitting the file. My question. Is there anyway to tell GoldWave to drop a Q mark at every so many minutes? Meaning say I want a Q mark dropped at every 10 minutes of an audio track, it would do that. Would be much faster for me to edit Q marks already placed, rather than place them myself manually. Another thing, is there a keyboard command to jump to a specific time in a file? Reviewed the help documentation, and see no such command. That would also make things much easier. I could jump to 00:10:0 of a .WAV file, drop a Q mark and Then jump to 00:20:0, drop another Q mark, and so on. Thanks for any help. ___ PC-Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Dave and Jerry, Okay, thanks. Sorry I wasn't clearer initially, should have just asked the question and left it there. I assumed it probably was not possible since I hadn't heard of anyone else doing it. Will send this on to the other list. Re: Total Recorder help needed
Don, If he wants to record on board sound, it may be possible to do so without the TR driver, but I don't think this will work for any content that is streamed. I do not have a solution for you unfortunately. I was actually using it on a Windows 98 system for a year without problems by using the Direct Sound plugin within Winamp, but within the last few months this has stopped working for me and I find that my soundcard gets completely hosed up after a TR session whether or not I am using Direct Sound or Wavout, so I assume that there must be a missing or corrupt .dll file somewhere that I just don't know about. I get the impression that TR works better on XP systems, don't quite know why that would be. I'm not sure if there is anything about JAWS that is problematic ... I use a hardware synthe rather than eloquence so this should not be an issue.I would certainly like to find a program for recording streams that does not install its own driver but doubt that one exists. Hopefully someone can post a workaround or suggest an alternative program. sorry I cannot be of more help. Re: GoldWave 5.8 question?
go to the tools menu cue points autocue move to the spacing tab and enter your starting point and the intervals you wish the cue points to be set. e.g. every 3:23.0 what will happen is that you will get a large number of cue points which you can add to or delete. Re: GoldWave 5.8 question?
Hello, I am using Goldwave version 5.5, but presumably 5.8 will work in the same way. In the Edit menu, go to the Cue points submenu and click on Edit Cue Points. Then click on the Add New Cue Point button. You are now in a window where you can enter the time of your new cue point in hours, minutes and seconds to three decimal places. I have used this to split a wave file 88 minutes long at 36 minutes and 47 seconds, and it worked perfectly. If I need to find a time position in a file that I want to split, I always use Winamp, remember or make a note of the time, and then go into Goldwave to drop the cue points. A bit messy, but I get there in the end. Hope this helps. Christopher At 09:11 29/09/04 -0400, you wrote: Hello. Have a question about splitting a long 4 GB .WAV file in Gold Wave. Re: which mp3 player for blind
Hi All, The Book Port from APH works great with Audible. It is the only player on the market that will allow you to speed up Audible content by compressing the time and length of pauses in a file. It is totally accessible and very cool. Robert Carter At 07:18 AM 9/29/2004, you wrote: of course the have full length books. go take a look and see if you like what they got. Do these conflict with Nero?
Hi, I have Intervideo Win Cinema and Nero on my system and they were put there by a friend who was helping me. I was scolded for allowing this on the premise that the Win Cinema would conflict with Nero. Also I was slammed for having Copyware on the system as that would mess up a computer. I simply do not know. Finally, which works better with JAWS-- Win DVD 4 or Win DVD 5? Any answers to the above would be very appreciated. sound cards and jaws
this is a very important question to me so, I hope to get good answers... I am using a sound blaster extigy, which is an external USB sound device. I get lots of crackling, and I mean lots... When JFW and Eloquence do their thing, major crackle when being run under windows XP. Yes, XP and jaws and sound blaster extigy... I need to know what people are using with their xp systems for sound cards which do not crackle, and produce still good audio quality. I am not going to be doing my multi track recording from what ever you folks recommend, just standard sound and audio mp3 file playing and such. If you recommend a sound blaster card, please be sure to note which one exactly. for example there are no less than 3 flavors of the sound blaster audigy... I have no problem with sound blaster, and I love my extigy but, it is the dreadful crackle that I must get rid of... please help... Roger R. Dear Norma, I have done a great deal of recording onto my PC using an XP with Jaws 5. I have TR set up for default in my 1.51 cd ex and when I have opened cd ex I do alt- T; R (and usually go up arrow to reduce the number from 44 to 32 thousand for speech); then tab and chose either open ended time or arrow down to set time limit on recording; next tab I go down arrow to use TR as the device; then type heading for the new file, and proceed on from there. If you want further information on this approach for taking data from a tape, just let me know. sincerely, Lloyd - Original Message - From: Norma A.
