HALF RACK

2004-12-02 Thread Andre van Deventer
Hi al

I am interested in starting to learn to compose music on my computer. But
as a beginner I found some of the terminology rather baffling ...

For example, what is a half rack module when referring to sound modules?
The one I am looking at is tha Kurzweil ME1. And speaking of this Kurzweil
ME1, is it easy to use and can it work with programmes like Cakewalk Sonar?

I wish ther was some place where beginners like me could get start-up info
and some idea of the terminology that is used!!

Regards

Andre

Hi,

Well, I've solved all of the problems that I've had with total recorder so
far thanks to all of you people. Just one more question though?

I found how to schedule record but I don't see an option to tell it what to
record from? Does that mean, that if I wanted to record a radio show, I'd
just have to leave it streaming so that total recorder could kick in when
it's meant to? Or is there a way to specify which software to record from or
what url to use?

Hoping someone can help me.

Thanks a lot,

Re: Locating Inputs On My computer's Soundcard

2004-12-02 Thread Jerry Richer
Any transmitter or wireless headphones requires that you plug in to
where the speakers would normally go. Now some higher end Sound Cards have
additional outputs for this. I use my speakers and wireless headphones
simultaneously. Radio Shack should have something to split the signal
coming out of your sound card for the speakers into two or more so that you
can use your speakers and transmitter or wireless headphones at the same
time. It's a little more involved than just splitting the signal though.
Tell the clerk you want to do it correctly without messing up your sound
card. If it doesn't sound like they know what their talking about go
somewhere else.

problem accessing yahoo player's volume control with windoweyes

2004-12-02 Thread john riehl
I successfully signed up to listen to college basketball on Yahoo.
Unfortunately, when I click on a game, the volume is at the lowest
possible setting, even though my pc-s volume is set fine. Using Windoweyes, I
am unable to access the volume up and volume down
controls in Yahoo's player, even though these controls are visible and
accessible by a sighted person using the mouse. This is
extremely frustrating. I'm using the latest version of windoweyes with windows
XP Sp-2.Can anybody give me any tips re accessing the
volume so I can listen to ncaa sports?
I am also trying to change my default to realplayer as opposed to windows media
player. Even though I've changed this in Media
Helper, Yahoo always seems to default back to windows media player.
Thanks for the help!! John

Terri,

I only have a little knowledge about bit torrent but the way it works is
that you can only download those files that have been uploaded using bit
torrent so you'd need to find a site with enough variety to fulfil your
requirements. www.suprnova.org I think is one of the more well known.

You can search on bit torrent using google and you'll find some useful
information. I did this when I was curious as to why so much data was being
uploaded from my son's machine while he was downloading. This is due to the
way in which bit torrent works. It uploads fragments of the file that
you're downloading so that others can download those fragments making the
whole thing nore efficient. That said, even with a fast broadband
connection, download times are long.

You don't have an interface as such, bit torrent installs in a simillar
manner to a download manager and runs in the background so effectively
you're just downloading a file in the normal way you'd download any file
from any site.

By the way, there's no spyware either.

Hello Kevin,
Thank you for your thoughts on this program.
I think it's very interesting how it works, and I'd like to try it out.
But before I do, I plan to do more research on it.
I have checked out that Super Nova site before, and I don't like it. I seem
to have a lot of trouble with it. The site is updated every 20 minutes.
However, the page refreshes rather frequently. Plus, my computer seems to
freeze up a lot, when at this site.
I find it rather difficult to deal with.
Thanks again for your thoughts, I do appreciate it.

I did this when I was curious as to why so much data was
being
uploaded from my son's machine while he was downloading. This is due to
the
way in which bit torrent works.

  Hello everyone,
I know I'm not spelling this right, but what is bittorent?
How does it work? And what makes it different from other programs out
  there?
Such programs as Direct Connect, WinMX, and so on.
I am using windows XP pro, and Jaws 5.1.
  How accessible is this program.
See, I'm wanting to be able to download TV series, and movies, but I'm
not
sure how to go about finding such things.
  Someone recommended this program.
Is there a website I can go to, in order to learn more about it?
  Thanks,
  Terri

Audio books on CD

2004-12-02 Thread Frank Deweese
I am copying a number of books to computer. My question is, how do I copy a
book that has a number of CDS in one complete album? When I go on line to copy
already downloaded books, I occasionally see books that have album wrap.

Does this question make any sense to any one?

2004-12-02 Thread Kathy and Tom
Hi Doc,
Yeah! I've gotten several of those same kinds of responses from XM. It
seems like it's just a form response.
