Re: problem with Winamp 2.91

2004-12-04 Thread Bobcat
Thanks Marty. I installed 2.92 over top of 2.91 but still have the same
problem with Internet Radio in the library.

Is anyone else using 2.9x versions of Winamp? I wonder if it has something
to do with changes to the library in 5x versions or with changes at Nulsoft.

Hi, Bob, I knew that winamp 2.95 did this, but didn't know winamp 2.91
did this as well, and the only fix is a reinstall over the top. I have
found that winamp 2.92 is nice and fast, and so I'll send you that off
list, and you can install it, and see how you go with it.

Winamp

I love 2.91 and don't like the 5x versions. But if this problem is
because
of changes to Winamp, I guess I'll have to upgrade.

Tom! Most ordinary internal sound cards seem to have a speaker output,
a line level input and a microphone input but no line level output. If
there were a line level output then you could use it for your wireless
transmitter. A line level output is common but not in the ordinary vanilla

problem with skype answerphone

2004-12-04 Thread Danielle Cleary
Hi,

I realise this program is only a beta, but I was wondering if anyone has
seen this happen, and if so, if they know how to deal with it?

I installed skype answer phone yesterday, after someone very kindly sent it
to me. The problem I have, is that the program won't do what it's supposed
to do as it is telling me that a user is not logged in to skype. This is
blatantly not they case however and I am unsure as to whether I can do
anything about this?

If anyone has any ideas on this, I'd be very grateful to hear from them.

Thanks,

Danielle

What you have to do is make sure that the answering machine is associated
with Skype. Start up skype first and then start up the answering machine.
You should see the property's window for the answering machine but also you
should see a skype window that will have radio buttons to ask you how you
want this answering machine to connect. Once you set the radio button tell
that window ok and you'll be good to go.

Winamp 5.07 is now available and one place where you can download it
from is at www.whitestick.co.uk/download.html. Here are the changes in
 this version:

Critical Security bug fixed in in_cdda.dll and .m3u handler
 in_mp3 in_nsv should work on Win95 again
 Proxy settings work again
Installer fixed so that read_file.dll is installed always with mod
 support
Version number should be properly reported by IPC_GETVERSION for this
 build

Re: Locating Inputs On My computer's Soundcard

2004-12-04 Thread patricknc
I would guess that you will probably have to unplug your speakers unless you
have one of those newer computers with jacks in the front as well as the
back. And it doesn't sound like you have one of those. Another solution is
a splitter. You can get them at radio shack. Just tell them you want to
change one output jack into two. It may decrease the level of sound from
the speakers, but not much and you can always increase the volume a little
to compensate. If that doesn't work for some reason, then I don't Know.
But the splitter can be gotten for probably less than $5, and certainly less
than $10, so it won't cost you much to find out if it works or not.

Skype Answering Machine

2004-12-04 Thread Roger R. Cusson
Hi my friends,

There is a fellow who has written an API plug-in for the Internet telephony
program, Skype.

It is the Skype Answering Machine.

You can find the current BETA, and most likely future BETAS at:

http://www.freewebs.com/skypeansweringmachine/

I have it going, it is great for those times, when you are not near the
machine, and just want to let people know that or --- simply allow your
friends and colleagues to leave you a detailed voice mail message so, you
can get back to them, when you return to your work station...

You can also find the actual program, Skype at:

As for accessibility, I find the receiver very easy to use. The buttons are
all raised and easy to locate.

As far as having it in a steel office building, I don't know how well that
would work because the metal may interfere with the sattelite antena. However,
you may be able to listen to XM on line if you have a subscription. that's
what I do with Sirius at work.

phoneand has an antenna included.
I wonder how blind friendly it is as the portability might be a nicething.
I also wonder how the reception would be in a steel glassbuilding.
Many thanks for answer yousent.

  From: [EMAIL PROTECTED]mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Hi.
I use Sirius, which is the competition for XM. I know you can't jog with
the receiver, because you also need an antena as well as a boombox or high
fi to which to hook it.

As for accessibility, I find the receiver very easy to use. The buttons
are all raised and easy to locate.

As far as having it in a steel office building, I don't know how well that
would work because the metal may interfere with the sattelite antena.
However, you may be able to listen to XM on line if you have a subscription.
that's what I do with Sirius at work.

  Hi,
Wonder if any one has used X M satellite radio in steel office building?
Some one told me it is a very small unit--that people can jog with it.
I wonder if blind people can use it?
I wonder if the signal would work in a glass steel building.
  Many thanks.

It would work in a steel office building if there were a window with a clear
line of sight to the satellite or you were close enough to one of their
repeaters.

Can anyone suggest a good virtual surround sound plug in for Winamp? Also
if one exists for Windows Media Player I'll be interested in giving that one

Re: Virtual surround sound plug ins?

2004-12-04 Thread Bobcat
Windows Media Player has one built in called SRS Wow. Use the view menu and
go to enhancements and press enter on srs wow effects. Then tab in the main
window to a checkbox to turn it on. You may need to tab to the next or
previous controls to get SRS in focus then the control to turn it on may say
read only edit box. graphic equalizer. If you manage to turn it on, then
you can tab to controls for speaker size true bass and SRS level.

I have one for Winamp I like but it is a bit tricky to work. I like it
because it sounds good and has lots of control but it is not screen reader
friendly. You need to reclass controls and lock the mouse down to use the
scroll bars.
It is StreamFX for Winamp by Spatializer Audio Laboratories.

Winamp 5.07 is now available and one place where you can download it
from is at www.whitestick.co.uk/download.html. Here are the changes in
  this version:

Critical Security bug fixed in in_cdda.dll and .m3u handler
  in_mp3 in_nsv should work on Win95 again
  Proxy settings work again
Installer fixed so that read_file.dll is installed always with mod
  support
Version number should be properly reported by IPC_GETVERSION for this
  build

Backing Up a Disk with Easy CDDA Extractor

I want to back up a CD with Easy CDDA Extractor (latest version) as a FLAC

program to create a cue sheet, though I'm quite certain this is possible.
Any ideas?
