Re: Slowing down

2005-04-02 Thread G. McFarlane
Hi Gary
I have both functions in Adobe Audition and in DC6 - somehow or other I
can't get this to work. When I slow things down, but not far enough things
sound promising, however when I attempt to get them exact I get distortion.

Cutting the sample rate - I tried this without any effect. How do I
resample? It's not just converting the file to a different rate as this
keeps things at the same level. How might I re-sample - is there any
software which might just cut the speed by 1/2 and similarly correct the
pitch? For so long this is only what you could do, but of course now the in
thing is to keep the pitch the same.

Thanks.

Hi Gordon. I think you can slow it down by cutting the sampling rate in
half, or you can use pitch shift, if you have Soundforge or Goldwave.

Hi
I'm sure I've seen something about this on the list before but can't
remember what to do. Can anyone help?

I have recorded 1 and 7/8 ips reel to reel tape at 3 and 3/4 speed and of
course have found the recording too fast. I'm fairly sure that it's
possible to slow this down to the normal speed by changing the sample
rate but am not sure what to do. Can anyone advise?

Thanks.

Robin, did you get Radio 365 or the VIP player. The reason that I'm asking
is because you don't really have to interact with the VIP player. You just
load it, choose it as your default player, and it pops up when you choose a
station from their website.

If you need a hand at finding the right player, just let me know.

Hi Robin. Have you tried using the VIP player? This is a different option
than Radio 365 and I don't really know what's different with it from a
techie standpoint. However it does give you the best possible audio
quality, and when used in conjunction with jaws, it works fine for me. I
guess your other solution would be to download the WindowEyes demo (which
works up to 30 minutes) and Radio 365, which works well with WindowEyes.
That seems a shade drastic, but it should work. You could also use
 Winamp,
WMP or Real, but then there would be no reason to pay the VIP price.

Hi Sun Sparkle. I have found that when using Winamp with Live 365 I have
 to
log in to the Live 365 service before attempting to play a stream from
 them.
For whatever reason, I have found that when using Real Player, I don't
 have
to log in every time. That being said, listening options are always more
accessible with Winamp, so it might be worth the inconvenience of needing
 to
 log in.

One other worthwhile mention here... as a live 365 VIP member I can
downlload and use radio 365. The version of this application which has
just been released is quite accessible with WindowEyes, 5.0, though not
 so
good with Jaws 6.0. For non-VIP members, Radio 365 can be purchased for
 $14
and something. A demo is also available. This lets you access live 365
 from
your desktop, but again I should stress that so far I haven't been able
 to
make it work with anything but WindowEyes.

Hi tom if you go into settings control panel sounds and multy media
then audio have a look at which sound card is the default I bet You
your total recorder has defaulted to the sound driver just go in and
change back to your onboard sound or what ever sound card you have.

I'm sorry I am not doing a grate job of explaining this but I have had
this problem it would seem if you have done a recording using total
recorders software mode it defaults back to the total recorder driver
I think you can set the default sound card to use on board sound I
have done this and all seems to be ok now it might be an idea to tell
total recorder to use it's own driver only when total recorder is
active.

try to start a recording, often times (not always) but it'll cause the

Hi.
Try going to control panel and clicking nero image drive. You
should see a message like nero image drive is not installed. Do you wish to
install it now?. If you answer yes, it'll install. You can then follow

applications key if you don't use a mouse), and selecting nero image drive
from that context menu. You'll then be able to access the image as a

Subject: Re: playing nero image n r g files?

Thanks for the reply, rob. Where would I find this program in nero? I
think I have the entire suite. Can you get to it from nero burning rom? I
tried navigating to the image file and pressing enter on it and it started
up nero, ready for me to burn it to a cd!

Hi,
check to see if your version of Nero includes Nero Image Drive.
It will load the nero image as a virtual CD Drive.

Subject: playing nero image n r g files?

Hi folks,
I have several nrg files, cd images created by nero
6.something. I'm wondering if there is any software that will play
these as is, or must I first burn them to cd. Also, if software can
play these files, is there anything that can rip these images into mp3
files without having to waste cd's since I plan to listen to these songs
on my computer, anyways? Any help appreciated. As an alternative to
plowing through 85 cd's or so, I'll try using a re writeable cd.

Book Currier

Are any of you using Book Currier? If you are can you tell me if you are using
a 2 gb card and who makes it. I am getting ready to go on a cruise and I love
transferring different types of files including MP3 but right now I only have a
128 meg card. The quality is great but I want more room and do not want to buy
the wrong card.

RE: playing nero image n r g files?

2005-04-02 Thread Chris Skarstad
hi. You first have to burn the images to a cd. then you can treat the files
as normal.

Hi.
Try going to control panel and clicking nero image drive. You
should see a message like nero image drive is not installed. Do you wish to
install it now?. If you answer yes, it'll install. You can then follow
Rob's instructions by right-clicking on the nrg image (use shift+f10 or the
applications key if you don't use a mouse), and selecting nero image drive
from that context menu. You'll then be able to access the image as a
standard drive in Windows.

How do you set it to use winamp? Every time I go to live365 and chose a
station it brings up their player, and I can't figure out how to get it to
sue winamp.

For me, it's an easy choice to use Winamp over their default player.
