Update on Volume Logic

2005-12-23 Thread Steve Matzura
It's not much of one, really, just that someone sent me a message
saying the office is closed until January 10th, after which time I
will receive answers to my questions, most of which concerned
accessibility issues we've all read about already. Thing is, I'm also
interested in their streamer program but may wait on that if I can get
the same kinds of changes incorporated into it as what we want
incorporated into Volume Logic. We shall see.

getmusicfree.com question

Hi,

When I try to register for getmusicfree.com, I get directed to another site,
which is fine. Then, after submitting my e-mail address and name, an offer
popps up: win an ipod nano. This is getting on my nerves--and, when I try to
log in, it just tells me that a log on error has occured.

thanks!

Re: Converting to MP3?

2005-12-23 Thread BD
Looking at Gold Wave's details I see it converts to a 24 bit file.
Previously I posted inquiring about a recording software to record at 128
bit. Perhaps there is an MP3 converter that will do that as opposed to a
recording software? Below is the requirements for my MP3s, perhaps I'm
amiss but I'm assuming they are talking about a 128 bit file. Sound forge
only maxes at 32 bit and Gold Wav 24 bit. 128 seems high to me but it is
what they require. How could I achieve this? Here's the requirements...

Your song must have the following settings:
Constant Bit rate
Bit Rate: 128Kbps
Channels: Stereo
Frequency: 44100Hz

Thanks for any help.

Hello. There are many programs out there to do this job and many people on

I use audiograbber because it is very speech friendly and has a wide codec

Do a google search for it and you will find it easily.

Fwd: burning DVDs and more

2005-12-23 Thread Steve Pattison

From: Bray, Terry [EMAIL PROTECTED]
To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

  FYI:

Premier Assistive Technology Announces latest release of Premier
 CD/DVD Creator 2.0

Premier Assistive Technology, a world leader in assistive
software for reading and writing, announces the latest release of
 its Premier CD/DVD Creator
2.0, the world's most accessible CD / DVD creation software.

(PRWEB) February 3, 2005 -- Steve Timmer, Chairman highlights Our
Premier CD/DVD Creator was already first CD/DVD burning software
that is designed to
work with a screen reader and is now the most Section 508-compliant
CD burning software in the market, but we've just made it even better!!

Ken Grisham, President, further explains For many visually impaired
users, while individual screens may be accessible, once you select
a button or other
function, the user often loses track of the progress or status of a
task because the screen reader cannot tell them what is happening.
Premier CD Creator
2.0 takes care of all of that. With the new Premier Assistive CD/DVD
burning software, you always know what it is doing as it is doing
it. No more guess
work. The best part is there is nothing special you need to do to
get it to work with your screen reader! If you have a screen reader
running, the Premier
CD/DVD software will automatically detect it, and send information
through your screen reader.

Mr. Timmer further explains that The Premier CD/DVD Creator 2.0
software package contains four unique tools. It comes with an Audio
Ripper, Audio CD Burner,
Data CD creator and Data DVD Burner. Each one of these products is
independent of the version of screen reader being used. They do not
require any Script
files or Set Files. You never have to worry about what version of
the screen reader you have. Just install it and use it. This tool is
a must for visually
impaired computer users.

New Features of the Premier CD/DVD 2.0 Creator

Audio Ripper:

- Improved Album and track information retrieval. The new audio
grabber will recognize almost all commercially produced CD's.
- Rename Tracks before you rip them. Just press the F6 in the audio
grabber to rename the track you want to rip.
- Faster rip speed.
- Advanced MP3 Features are more accessible.

Audio CD:

- Multi Session Support. Version 2 now supports multiple sessions.
- Three different write methods; (1) Track at once, (2) session at
once and (3) disk at once. Track at once will put a 1 - 2 second
pause between songs.
Session at once will not put the pause between songs, but keep the
disk open for future addictions. Disk at once will not insert the
pauses, but will finalize
the CD.
- Lets you know who much free space is remaining when adding files
- No stuttering while disk is burning
- Faster writing speeds

Data CD/DVD:

- Supports more drives types
- More efficient buffering
- Faster and more efficient CD/DVD burning
- Compatible with more media types
- Screen reader stutter eliminated while burning
- Multi-session support

The price of Premier CD/DVD Creator 2.0 is still only $59.95 for the
world's most accessible CD burning Software!!!

Script problem with Sound Forge 8.0B

2005-12-23 Thread Jim Noseworthy
Hi Folks:

Using the free scripts, I am unable to gain full access to the options in the
Record dialog of Sound Forge 8.0B.

Has anyone done any work on this issue? If so, how so?

I have tried using the WinDig program to gather information about the various
windows contained in the dialog; however, I have not been able to find a way to
access many of the options.

Any help would be appreciated all over the place.

If you already own a copy of goldwave, there's no reason not to use it for
this project, especially as it has the recursive functionality I think you
were asking about earlier. But, If you don't already have Goldwave, I'd
recommend using the file converter that is part of Easy CD-DA Extractor;
depending on currency fluctuations, it's registration fee is significantly
less than Goldwave's.

Re: Converting to MP3?

2005-12-23 Thread BD
OK. I did look at Gold Wave on line, and the featured details only show a
24 bit sound bit. Being you have it, can you tell me will it do a 128 kbs
bit file at 44,100 Hz? Gold Wave seems to have come a long way in the
years, I remember it as a shareware program with simple usage, it seems
much more complex and giving Sound Forge a run for the money from what it
says it can do anyway.

Re: Converting mp3 to CDA?

2005-12-23 Thread Dana S. Leslie
I don't understand why you would want to do such a thing. So far as I
understand, CDA is NOT a media format, like WAV or MP3. It's just the format
that exists on a CD once a file has been burned to CD.

If you want to play a media file from your hard drive, keep it in WAV, MP3,
or whatever other media format you prefer. If you want to burn it to a CD,
go ahead and use whatever burning software you prefer. Once you've burned
the file to CD, it will exist on the CD as a CDA file. But there's no point
in converting it into a CDA file on your hard drive or anywhere other than
on CD (if that's even possible).

The CDA extension is just a pointer on the disk to the file.
.CDA files are not playable by audio applications, as you would .wav,

Based on my experience with others with similar problems, I would guess that
she doesn't need a better/faster CD writing program, so much as she needs a

Why would you want to do this? No meedia player that I know of plays these
files, and these files, as far as I understand, exist only on an audio cd.

Re: Converting mp3 to CDA?

2005-12-23 Thread R Q J
Pete,
Well, slow shouldn't be a problem,
I burn at 4x.
Maybe the settings in Nero need a little tweak?
I know there are some buffer settings in Nero 5.5, but I haven't looked at
them in a long time.
And of course, Nero seems to picky about what burners it will work with.
Good luck,

hello r q j,

thanks for that, i thought that was probably the answer.
i was checking for a friends daughter who has an external cd writer which
is rather slow and doesn't have buffer protection therefor when she tries
to use nero to create an audio cd from mp3 files it quits giving a buffer
error part way through.
so it's probably a case of her having to get a better and faster cd writer.

pete.

Hi Pete,
Can't do it.
The CDA extension is just a pointer on the disk to the file.
.CDA files are not playable by audio applications, as you would .wav,
or.mp3.
So why would you want to convert files before you burn them anywaywhen it
is
part of the audio creation process?

 Hi Brad,
 Yes it will!
If I want to change a file to something specific, here is what I do.
I open the file in GoldWave, and then just choose the save as dialogue,
 and
then save the file with the attributes that I want.
Example I may open a .wav file, and then save it as an mp3, at 44.100,
 128kbps stereo.
Now I have 2 files with the same name, but with different attributes.

I know there are some buffer settings in Nero 5.5, but I haven't looked at
 them in a long time.
And of course, Nero seems to picky about what burners it will work with.
 Good luck,

 hello r q j,

thanks for that, i thought that was probably the answer.
i was checking for a friends daughter who has an external cd writer which
is rather slow and doesn't have buffer protection therefor when she tries
to use nero to create an audio cd from mp3 files it quits giving a buffer
 error part way through.
so it's probably a case of her having to get a better and faster cd
 writer.

 Hi Pete,
 Can't do it.
The CDA extension is just a pointer on the disk to the file.
.CDA files are not playable by audio applications, as you would .wav,
 or.mp3.
So why would you want to convert files before you burn them anywaywhen it
 is
part of the audio creation process?

 hello all,

what is the best programs for converting mp3 files to CDA without actually
burning them at the same time.
i know nero will do it as it burns them but i don't want them to be burnt
 until a later time.
 thanks.

A .mid file is a sequencing file that plays sounds. It does not have the
actual sounds in it, which is why it's not a sound file as such.

 Hi Brad,
 Yes it will!

OK. I did look at Gold Wave on line, and the featured details only show a
24 bit sound bit. Being you have it, can you tell me will it do a 128 kbs
bit file at 44,100 Hz? Gold Wave seems to have come a long way in the
years, I remember it as a shareware program with simple usage, it seems
much more complex and giving Sound Forge a run for the money from what it
 says it can do anyway.

will do that but my Sound Forge 5.0 won't, and perhpas not the latest
version of Sound Forge either, in your opinion how does Gold Wav stack up
to Sound Forges editing and effects?

Looking at Gold Wave's details I see it converts to a 24 bit file.
Previously I posted inquiring about a recording software to record at
 128
bit. Perhaps there is an MP3 converter that will do that as opposed to
 a
recording software? Below is the requirements for my MP3s, perhaps I'm
amiss but I'm assuming they are talking about a 128 bit file. Sound
 forge
only maxes at 32 bit and Gold Wav 24 bit. 128 seems high to me but it
 is
what they require. How could I achieve this? Here's the requirements...

Your song must have the following settings:
 Constant Bit rate
 Bit Rate: 128Kbps
 Channels: Stereo
 Frequency: 44100Hz

 Thanks for any help.

Re: Converting to MP3?

2005-12-23 Thread Curtis Delzer
Wow, converting to mp3 is done by so many programs e.g. cdex, nero,
accoustica, easy_mp3, among others, even winamp will do it, and I
usually burn at about 32X since anything more than than that causes
errors on my system. The effective burn speed is about 15X though
since mp3s have to be listened too before they can be burned, and
unlike just straight data, take more time. Using a program like
winamp to make *.wav files of midi files is a way to burn them to cd
easily, since the midi file is your sound card's instruments, as it
were, being controlled by someone else's ideas about how a song
should be played, so that's easy enough.

Hi BD,
Razorlame does a good job of converting wave files to what ever mp3 khz
and kbps's you want. Email me off list for the program. If you download it

How computer savvy are you? It's quite simple to set up. However simple for
