RE: Total Recorder: Appending To A File

2005-12-31 Thread Caroline Ford
Hello,

I've now tried to append to an existing file in Total Recorder. I have the
file on my hard drive, open it in TR and press Record. When I finish
recording and save the file, the original file is over-written with the
recording I have just made - the original contents of the file have
disappeared.

Is there something else I need to do to make sure I keep the original
contents of the file and the new contents are just added to the end of what
was already there?

Thanks,

Caroline.

the answer to both questions is yes, you can append and you can join
files together.

RE: Total Recorder: Appending To A File

2005-12-31 Thread Dean Martineau
Hi. Make sure that Append to recording is active, as opposed to
Insert, on the play/Record menu. Then hit Ctrl-End to go to the end
of the current recording. Now record, and the new recording should
be appended to the original.

I just did it and it works, with V5.3 Pro, and I don't think this is
a limited feature.

Re: Good PC Speakers

2005-12-31 Thread Tyler Wood
Yes. With two speakers, you can do a lot (virtual surround sound is one
fact). I'm actually looking for a new stario system for my room, and will
probably end up getting a mini system, because of course, in my room, I have
no room for a home theater system (or I'd buy one, if I was that into
movies). If I have good base, I'll be fine.

I found a couple reasons why for music 2 speakers is the best way to go. I
don't like that so much reverb gets added to radio on many systems, as if
you listen to some talk at times they sound like they're in a public
bathroom. Music sounds better as recorded, with some equalization and
automatic gain control, but I'm not fond of the added echo. A few systems
 I
heard at stores automatically add enough compression to things that radio
 at
all sounds bad, probably sounds fine for other sources, didn't have a CD
around when I checked stuff out or the knowledge of what the
 manufacturers
actually call it to find where the setting is controlled. That said, most
systems you check out are probably not at factory default settings as many
people play around to see what they can do, and there are many features
 and
options that can be set these days.

hooked to my computer. It may be pretty subjective, but since this is
 the
time of year for parades in the states, I'll state that I noticed that
 when
I watch a parade with surround sound, the bands and everything go from
behind me to in front of me, so if you'll be listening to a parade on
 your
 pc, you may notice this!

 Hi,
And if you want to you can add a professional sound card and even get
better sound from your computer then from many hifi stereos.

You can think of your computer as just another audio source like
 a
 CD
Player, a radio tuner, a tape deck etc. Make your computer one of
 the
components of your hi-fi. Your computer probably has a mini stereo
 out
 rather than two RCA outs.

I've tried to sign up and nothing works- and, to add to that, when I

don't even get an email stating or conferming my sign up. I've tried
signing up multiple times with no success. Has anyone signed up
successfully? I've noticed that when I press enter after entering my

I get taken to an free ipod screen. Do I have to enter my info here as
well? I don't really want a free ipod.

Brian suggested that less advanced users could benefit from Premier's
 CD
 creator.

I absolutely agree, and thank you for reminding me of that. I feel a
certain degree of shame for those times when I forget that there
 really is
 a
 solid market for straightforward simplicity.  You're right indeed;
 there
 are
hundreds of blind and low-vision folks who don't want all the arcane
techno-goop that can accompany more advanced CD creators, and
 certainly
 the
Premier program does, in fact, create a CD as advertised. I still use
 it
 on
those occasions when I'm in a real hurry, want to just burn something
mega-quick, and get on with other things. I hope my previous messages
didn't imply that the program is a failure; indeed, it is far from
 that.
 In
fact, for the market for which it was designed, I think it does really
 quite
well. Thanks again, Brian, for reminding me of things I really
 shouldn't

I'd agree with this, if there weren't easier ways to creat a CD. What
could be easier than Easy CD-Da Extractor? You select the file you want to
burn in windows Explorer, just about any format under the sun,
right-click, choose burn to CD with Easy CD-Da Extractor, repeat for all
the tracks you want to burn, no matter where they are or what the format,
go into the Easy CD-DA Extractor window, hit F8, grab a Coke, and grab the
CD when it's done. If the CD creation process were simpler with the
Premier product, I'd agree with the below at least to a degree.

2005-12-31 Thread Tyler Wood
I use real player for audio cds as well. For some reason, on my stario
system, when I burn cds with nero, and play them on it, it will skip and
such. On the other hand, if I burn with real player, I get none of this.
Both at the same speed, 8x. I think its my system though, because all other
devices play my cds fine no matter where they have been burned from. It
shouldn't matter, anyway.

2005-12-31 Thread Ray Slaton
Hi,
I know a lot of you use xm radio, but is anyone on here familiar with Sirius?
I went to target and the unit I looked at, don't remember the model number, the
buttons were so small they were indistinguishable.
My fear is that the buttons on these things are so small, that you can only use
the remote.
I am looking next week for more models, but if any of you have any
recommendations for a particular Sirius unit, please let me know.
Many thanks in advance.

Ray, I do use it, write me off list if you wish. I only use the remote
though and don't have a problem with that. I could use the buttons on the
base unit if I wish too. Of course you realize you can't do direct entry of
a station on the base like most of the things I own anyway. You seem to need
the remote more and more.

The most friendly thing I own is XMPCR but I haven't been able to find it
anywhere but heard they still offer it.

wll, when sirius first came out they made a boom box style receiver with an
actual knob on the unit that clicked each time you turned it to change the

Re: sirius radio

2005-12-31 Thread Chuck Adkins
Ray, I forget which unit I have but it can work either in the car or at home
and the front panel does have an up and down button. I'll have someone read
the unit model number as soon as I can and post it. I can't believe I can't
for the life of me remember it. God I am getting old!

wll, when sirius first came out they made a boom box style receiver with
 an
actual knob on the unit that clicked each time you turned it to change the
channel. so you could either use the remote or the tuning knob on the
 unit.
anybody know anything about the Tivoli audio am, fm, radio with sirius?

Ray, I do use it, write me off list if you wish. I only use the remote
though and don't have a problem with that. I could use the buttons on the
base unit if I wish too. Of course you realize you can't do direct entry
 of
a station on the base like most of the things I own anyway. You seem to
 need
 the remote more and more.

The most friendly thing I own is XMPCR but I haven't been able to find it
anywhere but heard they still offer it.

 Chuck

  Hi,
I know a lot of you use xm radio, but is anyone on here familiar with
  Sirius?
I went to target and the unit I looked at, don't remember the model
number, the buttons were so small they were indistinguishable.
My fear is that the buttons on these things are so small, that you can
  only use the remote.
I am looking next week for more models, but if any of you have any
recommendations for a particular Sirius unit, please let me know.
  Many thanks in advance.

Re: sirius radio

2005-12-31 Thread Norma A. Boge-Conyers
Hi Ray, one Sirius receiver with the knob for tuning to the various
stations is the SIR PNP 3. This receiver also has 10 preset
buttons. I use this receiver with an Audiobox boombox (Model BB 3)
and I just love it. It has a remote as well. The preset buttons are
rather small but very distinguishable. The boom box has 2 large
buttons for volume control and the other buttons are distinguishable
to the touch. If I can answer any more questions, just let me know,
I'm happy to be of help. Happy 2006, Norma ([EMAIL PROTECTED])

No. I think the company that makes CDRWin is goldenhawk or something
like that. I downloaded a version once to look at but I was already
usuing nero so I stuck with that.

I have never used CDRWin. I use Nero and I bought CD Premiere
Creator because I think there is a need for this kind of program and
I try to support worthwhile companies.

Brian suggested that less advanced users could benefit from
Premier's
CD
creator.

I absolutely agree, and thank you for reminding me of that. I feel
a
certain degree of shame for those times when I forget that there
really is
a
solid market for straightforward simplicity.  You're right indeed;
there
are
hundreds of blind and low-vision folks who don't want all the
arcane
techno-goop that can accompany more advanced CD creators, and
certainly
the
Premier program does, in fact, create a CD as advertised. I still
use
it
on
those occasions when I'm in a real hurry, want to just burn
something
mega-quick, and get on with other things. I hope my previous
messages
didn't imply that the program is a failure; indeed, it is far from
that.
In
fact, for the market for which it was designed, I think it does
really
quite
well. Thanks again, Brian, for reminding me of things I really
shouldn't
have forgotten.

Kindest Regards,

Nolan
