Hi there, It is hard to go to the view menu, because the menu bar can not be activated at all. I press Alt, and that won't work at all. That was part of the whole problem. RE: Problem with Windows Media Player
About the problem that you cannot access the menu by pressing alt, right, and in pc cursor mode, I experienced that problem too. All I did is I changed the cursor to JAWS cursor and single left clicked any item in the menu. For example, file, edit, view and so on. Then back your cursor to PC mode then again press the alt key and you will be fine. Weird huh! But there's nothing wrong on trying this yourself. It's just a suggestion through experience. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Jim Portillo Sent: Sunday, February 12, 2006 11:18 PM To: PC audio discussion list. Basically, when I open it and want to go to one of the menus in the menu bar, it won't do anything. I hit the Alt key to get to the menu bar, and it won't do a single thing. I can tab around to various buttons, but as far as accessing menus, it doesn't do anything. Also, I've been able to play files OK, but when I try and stream a certain file off of a web site, and I get a message dealing with the file not being able to open due to a file transfer protocol problem. I know absolutely nothing about any of that, so any help would be appreciated. Also, up until a few weeks ago when this problem started, I had no trouble streaming these particular files from the website, so I have a feeling something's wrong with the Windows Media Player. All I did is I changed the cursor to JAWS cursor and single left clicked any item in the menu. For example, file, edit, view and so on. Then back your cursor to PC mode then again press the alt key and you will be fine. Weird huh! But there's nothing wrong on trying this yourself. Fw: Juice 2.2 history downloading problem

The most straightforward fix is to back up your history, start fresh and rebuild your history manually. To do this use the following procedure: 1. Quit Juice 2. Locate your Juice application data directory. Usually this is C:\Documents and Settings\Your Windows Username\Application Data\iPodder Note that the Application Data folder may be a hidden folder, so just paste this path into an explorer window if you have any trouble finding it. 3. In this folder will be a sub-folder called "history". Rename it to "history backup" or something convenient. 4. Start Juice. 5. Rebuild your history manually by visiting each subscription and marking episodes for download as appropriate. Charles, I had saved this message from a while back. It helped me to figure it out. another way is to call CCrane and they can walk you through it. You will need the tiniest screw driver to do it. I actually took mine to the closest radio shack to have them help me. They took off the bottom and did it that way. It didn't take such a small screw driver that way. Smile I hope this helps. Shannon Copy of saved message below Will Smith Fri, 24 Dec 2004 19:07:52 -0800 Hi there, It's well hidden. You need a good fine bladed knife or screwdriver, and then turn the unit over. It's hard to feel this but a rectangle near the top of the back is actually a piece of plastic that can be peeled off. Below that you will find the small holes for putting a jeweler's screwdriver, such as one uses to tighten screws in eyeglasses. You need to carefully insert the screwdriver in to the left most opening and gently turn the adjustment all the way clockwise. Yes, this is the majority of all of the causes of this behavior. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Scott Meyer Sent: Monday, February 13, 2006 8:07 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Cc: PC audio discussion list. Re: skype question
Hi, There is a square label in the back of the unit. This can be peeled carefully off, thus revealing three screw holes. The one closest to the edge of the machine is the one you want. With a small screw driver, turn this clockwise all the way. Stick the label back on and you're set. Not sure to what level this boosts the signal. I still cannot pick up the signal over a hundred feet or so, but its clearly better. Re: goldwave question
Hi Don. No luck. I had an mp3 file opened if that means anything. Incidentally, I have a copy of For the People Course, on GoldWave by a guy calling himself Start Button, and in his demonstration, he also says press F5 on an open file to get it to play in reverse, starting from the back of the file. If I want to get to the end of a file I hold down the shift right arrow key when playing and I can jump in steps to near or very near the end of the file. However, I'm using my very limited vision for this and it's quite difficult. This is why I'm also looking for a command to get there. Best wishes. Media Player: Ripping/Burning
I have spent endless hours trying to figure out how Media Player can rip or burn CDs, and have had little success. Perhaps it is because I don't understand the program, but I have read the help documentation and think I do. My thought is that JAWS is preventing me from having success. Are there any tips for using JAWS for ripping/burning via Media Player? Or, would somebody be willing to share specific steps for how these tasks can be accomplished? Or, can you direct me to help documentation that would prove more helpful than what is contained with in Media Player? I checked the JFW help files, and found nothing. However, I have not been to the FS Website yet. I have tried to rip/burn on two different computers. Both systems have the most current version of Media Player (8 I think). One system runs XP Professional on a network, and the other system runs XP Home. The latter system is accessed via JFW 7.0, and the other system is unfortunately stuck with JFW 4.5. Fortunately I have managed to figure out how to burn via iTunes, but that program is only on one of my computers. Since I can burn CDs on that system, I am especially interested in mastering the ripping problem. However, I'd like to know how to rip/burn so that I can share with my students/friends who are interested in conquering the same tasks. All help would be greatly appreciated. Pattern
Hi list, This is Jouie and I want you to give attention on this. All players of top speed, here I once again discovered a technique on how to win on this game. I tested, observed and triple checked if I get it correctly. I realized that if you make a memorization of how the co-pilot announces the things there, you can have the game. Just try to remember all he says there, and promise, it is consistently arranged in sequence. Oh, what will be the punishment of this? You know, I repeatedly play the car number 3 from the selection menu, and always choose "The netherlands", then I attempt to have my observation. I got an expected result. I think different tracks have also diferent patterns. Why don't you try it yourself? Nothing wrong? If you think I am lying to you, send me violent reactions. Re: Media Player: Ripping/Burning
Hi Katrina, First, you'll need to upgrade your media player to the latest version which is 10.0 Once you have that, you can follow these instructions for ripping cd's with it. Ripping a cd to your hard drive using the windows media player Perhaps the easiest way to do this is to insert the cd into the hard drive. A dialog box will then come up and prompt you to take an action. These will range from exploring the files on the cd with the windows explorer, to burning a cd with your preferred rom burning program to ripping the cd with the windows media player or simply to take no action. Once you've chosen the rip action press enter and the cd will rip to the following folder: c:\documents and settings\my documents\my music location. If you choose to take no action and want to perform the rip manually, select the windows media player application, then tab to the firsst of the rip music buttons and press space to activate it. From this point, hit tab about 9 times to access the second rip music button and hit space on that. The tracks will be ripped to the folder named above. To perform a selective rip, once you tab to the second of the rip buttons, hit the tab key once more and you will be in the tracks listbox. By default you are at the top of it and the tracks appear in a vertical order so the down arrow moves you to each corresponding track. all of the tracks are checked by default at first. Simply uncheck the tracks you don't want to rip by hitting the down arrow and spacebar then shift-tab once to the rip button and press space on it and the selected tracks will be ripped into the my music folder. Hopefully this explanation makes sense. - Original Message - From: "Kat" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "'PC audio discussion list. Re: Media Player: Ripping/Burning
Hi Katrina, Here's how to burn cd's using the media player. First from your my music folder, select the tracks you want to burn and add each one you want to burn to the burn list. The add option is in the file menu. Once you have the files you want, hit alt-tab to your focus is in the media player program. from there, press tab to get to the first of the burn buttons and hit space on it. Then hit the tab key about 9 times to reach the second of the buttons which is the start burn button. Once you're on that, press enter on it and you should be in business. Hop this helps. RE: Media Player: Ripping/Burning
Hi Nick, First of all, thanks for the prompt reply! Secondly I must apologize for guessing about the Media Player version being 8. In fact I have version 10...I knew it was the most current version, but couldn't recall the specific number. Anyway, I was surprised to find the rip option (on this computer) in the menu that appeared upon insertion of my CD. Don't know how I over looked that before. I will have to check the other computer to make sure, but don't think the same option is given on my other system. Just this afternoon tried inserting the CD before loading Media Player, and the rip option wasn't given in that menu. Hmmm. I had 3 options, play the CD, explore the CD, and take no action. I'll certainly give your steps for manually ripping the CD a try no matter what options are given as they seem clear and easy to follow. Now for the issue of most importance to me at this point. Should I be able to use JAWS while a rip/burn is in process? If so, it seems I have changed some setting that disagrees with JFW. When trying to use JFW during a rip/burn, JAWS speaks horribly slow and jerky. Could I have chose a wrong setting? Does it matter what format, speed, etc. that is used? I really think something is not right, because this only started happening after I changed settings in Media Player. When I have burned music via iTunes, JFW has worked fine. Perhaps (out of curiosity) I should try burning/ripping via iTunes again to see how JFW reacts. Again thanks for your help. Re: Media Player: Ripping/Burning
Hi Katrina, Do you know exactly what setting you changed in JFW? Jaws has no problems when I do either task. It also could be a case of the amount of memory you have that may be affecting the speech. With my old windows2k system, I couldn't use jaws with the audio burning tools because of the strain it put on the ram. I've got over 500Megs of ram in this new system and it purs like a well how should I say this, oh yeah, got it. "Kat!" Grins! RE: Media Player: Ripping/Burning
No no no...I didn't change anything in JFW. My thought was possibly some changes that were made in Media Player could have caused JAWS to react so crazy. Maybe that is a stupid thought, but I did some guessing when choosing the Media Player settings so was afraid I selected the wrong options. By the way, a lack of memory and/or processer speed is not a problem with this particular computer. Can you advise me as to what options I should choose in Media Player? What format is best to use? In the options for ripping music, I have chosen MPEG-1 Audio Layer-3 (MP3). The audio quality is at zero (the default setting). As for performance options, the default for buffering is at 100%. Do these settings seem okay? Are there other settings I need to make sure are appropriate? Are the settings the same regardless if the source CD is a pre-recorded/commercial CD or if the CD contains MP3 files that were burned to disk? Thanks, Katrina -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of nick danger Sent: Monday, February 13, 2006 9:18 PM To: PC audio discussion list. Subject: Re: Media Player: Ripping/Burning Hi Katrina, Do you know exactly what setting you changed in JFW? Jaws has no problems when I do either task. It also could be a case of the amount of memory you have that may be affecting the speech. With my old windows2k system, I couldn't use jaws with the audio burning tools because of the strain it put on the ram. I've got over 500Megs of ram in this new system and it purs like a well how should I say this, oh yeah, got it. "Kat!" Grins!
