 Hi Kurt
Some stations that stream their audio on the net do not stream the
exact same things due to copyright restrictions. In other words, you
could hear When Radio Was on your AM station, but the internet stream
could have something completely different, because the station may
have obtained the rights to play the show on the station, but not to
stream it over the internet. Is what I'm saying making any kind of
 sense?
Setting up your own schedule is quite easy, as long as you remember
the address of the station, the start and end times of the show you
want to record, and you can decide in which audio format you want the
recording to be in. There is plenty of Old Time Radio programming
available in the Replay AV guide, so if you're into that, search
around and give some of the shows a try.

Once you've done it a few times it gets easier. Don't give up on it yet.

This really isn't that big of a deal you know. If there are going to
be spots, and it looks like there are, it'll probably only be 2 or 3
minutes an hour tops, and that's definitely better than the amount
you get on commercial radio. These channels are expendable really,

that much, simply find other xm channels to listen to that don't

A better question is the current version now accessible?

Re: replay observations

2006-03-08 Thread Ron or Susan Denis
The replay products can record from the sound card in addition to capturing
the stream. They will capture your system sounds and synthesizer unless you
also use the enhanced soundcard driver from replay which captures the
sound as it enters your soundcard and thus does not get the synthesizer or
other sounds. I find the enhanced sound card works well for me but similar
drivers have been know to give some people problems. Fortunately, it is
easily uninstalled should it prove problematic. RD

Re: replay observations

2006-03-08 Thread Chris Skarstad
hi. It's probably a lot easier if you go with replay AV, since it
doesn't utilize your sound card while it records the stream you're
trying to record, like I said earlier that is the absolute beauty of
this program.
So you're much better off going with Replay AV, rather than just
using Replay Radio itself.
To clarify, Replay Radio, and Replay AV are 2 separate programs,
independent of each other. You can not use both programs at the same
time, but you have the option of trying both when you install the
demo of Replay AV.
I love Replay AV, because I can record a stream in the background and
at the same time I can chat on Skype, read e-mail or surf the net
with software speech, and it'll record a show for me and I can just
listen later when I'm ready. It's awesome.

Real Player's Message Centre

2006-03-08 Thread Christopher Maule-Oatway
Hello,

Since installing Real Player 10, I have not been able to stop the Message
Centre and other popup windows from appearing when running Real Player. Is
there any way of disabling the Message Centre and these other popups, or,
better still, getting rid of them altogether? I seem to remember that
deleting a DLL or two will do the job, but don't know which DLLs to remove.

Also, on loading Real Player, I get a popup window inviting me to set up
the Google toolbar, which I don't want to do. Does anyone know how this
can be stopped, please?

Any advice is warmly welcomed!

Cheers,

Chris

Hi Ray

Be very careful when using these sound card drivers, they've been
known to cause problems. If you primarily use software speech and
don't have a hardware synthesizer,you may experience problems. I
won't even tell you what happened the time I tried to use Total
Recorder and what it's sound card driver did to my system, ug!Really,
you are just probably better off using Replay AV without the inhansed
sound card driver, because in 99.9% of instances I've seen, it's not
really necessary.
If you'd like to try it though, let us know what happens.

This stripped down version, is this what persons on this list call

Is that accessible?
Can you upgrade from express to nero without any cost?

Chris, this particular driver seems to neatly sidestep the problems
you describe and is really the only way to record from a sound card
if you use software speech. It is stable and only runs when asked
to. It is also a polite guest and goes away when it's not wanted.

 Found this on

 http://www.kurthanson.com/archive/news/030706/index.asp

the magazine is called RAIN, Radio And Internet Newsletter.

God, I hope this isn't true.

From Digital Music News: XM Satellite Radio routinely touts it
commercial-free radio channels, giving it a major edge over
terrestrial
 radio. Now, an

 xm satellite radio

interesting situation involving Clear Channel could force commercials
onto a number of XM stations.

Most recently, the company pointed to an upcoming change as part of a
10-K filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. XM noted that
 'commercial

advertisements will resume on music programming currently provided to
us
by Clear Channel,' part of a 'dispute we had with Clear Channel
relating

 clear channel

to our respective rights and obligations' following a '1998 investment
 in us.'

Clear Channel reportedly controls about four channels, a small
percentage of the 160-station XM dial. But consumers could become
 confused by the development,

especially if one of the Clear Channel-programmed stations happens to
be
a favorite. Whether that poisons the well is speculative, though
 certainly XM

is unhappy about the programming change.

Meanwhile, the development could be an attempt by Clear Channel to
sabotage the commercial-free competitive advantage of XM, part of

 digital music news

an intensifying battle between terrestrial and satellite companies.

once one starts the set-up, the enhanced sound card places itself where it
beloongs. It will go in the replay directory so that both AV and Radio have
access to it. RD

Re: replay observations

2006-03-08 Thread Ron or Susan Denis
I can only repeat that in spite of Chris's problems, I use the enhanced
sound card in replay whenever I use the program. The only adaptation I make
is that after replay or any other addition, I always go back into my volume
control and change back to my sound card drivers. It lets things record and
play better for me, but I uncheck the use default driver so if a program
wants a different one, it can get to it. I have never had any problems with
replay's enhanced sound card. Some do have problems, however, and they
acknowledge this and advise that one immediately uninstall it if one does.
Uninstalling this feature is relatively easy. If you capture streams
directly, this feature is irrelevant. I have a dial-up connection, however,
so using the stream capture feature will not work for me. You have to be
already connected to the net for it to work properly. Most DSL and cable
users use the capture stream feature and for them the enhanced sound card
feature is irrelevant. My need is to set up a recording so the computer
will dial in, make the recording, and hang up when done till the next
scheduled recording. The only reason I use AV is because some day I might
want to record something with its video. Of course, if I magically had
broadband access, then the AV features I can not use would come into play.

Re: replay mistake on MP3

2006-03-08 Thread Chris Skarstad
Hi Kurt

I've had a similar thing happen, at least when I convert real audio
to mp3. now if it's every single stream you try to record, you might
like to make sure the stream is active. It's entirely possible there
could be problems with it, in which case it won't record.

At 04:46 PM 3/8/2006, you wrote:
Well, I have somehow made a mistake and now my MP3 files cannot be read
and the RM files are not converted. Could somebody take a look and give
me some idea. I want to be economical about disk space and I don't know
about the CRC and copyright etc., I only know I think I really screwed
something up. I would appreciate any advice I could get. Later today I
will go up to the page, but I am working now so I can't. Thanks in
advance. Kurt

RE: Accessible MP3 players.

2006-03-08 Thread Nektarios Mallas
Hello there.
How do you transfer files back and forth with the unit? Can you see it
as a standard external drive and use windows explorer to send your mp3s
or you are stuck with horible creative software?
Also, does it have dedicated buttons for play, stop, pause, up and down
etc?

Thanks
Nektarios.

I have found the Creative Zen Nano 1 GB flash memmory to be fairly
accessible. Other than for getting into the menu for other options if
you only want to play MP3, Audible books, WMA and WMA/DRM (digital
rights
management) this unit hold a place marker in the file you are listening
too.

This unit has an FM radio and you have to get into the menu to get to
the radio--and I haven't found an easy way to do that.

Sound quality is great!

Found mine at Walmart.

Paid $149.95.

Hi Folks:

Are there any high quality belt worn MP3 players out that actually have
buttons for each function. Can they leave marks in a file so that one
can return to the place where one left off? To a certain extent, the
IRiver can do that; however, when one plays another file, the previous
place marker is gone.

Thanks all over the place gang.

Hi Jonathan,

Awesome news man and you're right this program rocks! One of the best
features is that you can go in there and extract all of the chapters and not
just the main section. For the first time, I was able to listen to
everything that is on Pink Floyd's The Wall movie including Hey You which is
a deleted scene, and the additional documentary footage.

Jonathan,

I was given a link, from Chris skarstad, who is subscribed to your podcast,
for the Replay Radio AV review. I am not all that adept with copying and
pasting links and URLs, plus I am not all that adept at subscribing to
podcasts, as of yet. That being the case, could you give me a link to the
DVD Audio Extractor review? When I went to the Mosen Explosion, awhile ago,
to get the Replay Radio AV review, it took me quite awhile to find it. If
it's not too much trouble, could you do this, for those of us novices, who
don't have the expertise, yet, to get these links, quickly? It would be
greatly appreciated! I cannot always get Control F to do this!

Many Thanks,

Mac Norins

Re: MAKING PROGRESS

2006-03-08 Thread Chris Skarstad
Hi Ray
Clearly, there is some kind of problem between your computer and the
stream you're trying to record. Have you listened to the stream in a
media player like Winamp or Windows Media player or another one to
make sure you can receive it without any problems. Remember, Replay
AV has to be able to capture the stream one way or another weather
it's through your sound card or by some other means, and the fact
that it keeps reconnecting suggests some kind of internet
congestion. The station you're listening to may also have 2 streams,
one for dial-up listeners and one for broadband. If you're on a
dialup connection and you're atempting to record the broadband
stream, then there's your problem right there, your connection simply
is not going to be fast enough to record this stream. If you're on a
broadband connection, then you certainl have enough bandwidth, but
there's a problem somewhere else.

 Hi Ray,

 When I got my system it also came with the stripped down version of nero;
however in my honest opinion stripped down OEM versions of software are
only
one floor above pieces of crap so I bit the bullet and paid the $79.95 and
upgraded it to the motherload and the benefits were well worth the cost.
If
you choose to upgrade it to a full version, for now grab nero 6.616 it
seems
to be the most accessible of the versions that are available.

Hi I was talking to a computer tech about cd burners. He recommended a

I asked what this meant and he said that it didn't include the video

This stripped down version, is this what persons on this list call

  Is that accessible?
Can you upgrade from express to nero without any cost?

Re: Real Player's Message Centre

2006-03-08 Thread Robert Hebert
When installing Real Player, I believe there was a link to install the program
with accessibility software in mind and I believe it was in that section that
pop-up windows could be disabled. I went through the install once about a year
and that is what I recall of the process but the option is definitely during
the installation of the program. This version of Real Player has never intruded
itself into any application I use--once it is set up correctly, of course and
their instructions for setting it up are very clear.

Cheers,

Chris

Hi, Tim. I too use the library with some quirky scripts I made, but
I wouldn't want to attempt explaining it. Most people would say that
the library isn't accessible with how Jaws behaves in the library,
and my scripts wouldn't be fit for anyone else to use. Window Eyes
actually handles the library much better out of the box. I have
tried it, and it is the better choice for this application.
