RE: mp3 player that plays wma's
You don't have to do anything with the player, but, for example, I use Windows Media to sync my netlibrary files to the player. If I have my SD card in then I have to tell windows on which drive to put my files. It won't carry over. If you are transferring a file to the internal player and it doesn't all fit than the rest of the file won't be put on the external card. It's either one or the other. One thing I like about the player is it does support USB2.0. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Rick Alfaro Sent: Tuesday, September 19, 2006 5:35 PM To: 'PC audio discussion list. Re: Getting rid of the plugin chainer in SF 8?
Ok. I just realized I was confusing the Plugin chainer with the Preset manager. I must have installed the Preset Manager recently, not the plugin chainer. Is the plugin chainer just a part of Sound Forge? Anyway. I pressed alt-0 while in the data window and that fixed the problem for me for the current session. You can turn off the plugin chainer by going to the view menu and arrowing down to plugin chainer. If it is checked, pressing enter will uncheck it and turn it off. Sorry for any confusion. Hi Robert, The libraries are partially correct, but, as part of their contract with NetLibrary, they should be entitled to technical support. Through that channel, the IT dpeartment of your library should be contacting NetLibrary to see about fixing it in a future update of the service, at a minimum. Just like most people, it sounds like the library folks just want to take the easy way out and get away with doing nothing. Darrell Shandrow - Shandrow Communications! Sorry Darrel. I don't know yet how to remove the plugin chainer. I wish I hadn't installed the darn thing. I meant that I don't think the Plugin chainer is registered with Sony. Re: mp3 player that plays wma's
Smaller files would certainly be the appropriate solution and I have suggested this to the Vancouver Public Library and my local Fraser Valley Library but they say they only purchase distribution rights from Net Library and have no input as to the format and file structure they use. I find this difficult to believe and possibly if someone like the Canadian Institute for the Blind and similar agencies in the U.S. took up the challenge, well, then maybe we could get this issue resolved. Net Library is making it easy for themselves without proper regard for its patrons--well, that is my opinion anyway. Or, it might cost borrowing libraries more for the services if more effort went into compiling the books in the smaller file format. Even though the player has 1 gb of memory, and can take the whole book with no problem, attempting to use either fast forward or rewind looses your place and brings you back to the beginning of the book. That was $75 down the drain unfortunately, because that was the only reason I had purchased the player. Can you recommend a player that will work with the huge files available from net library? Although I know you have to use Windows Media Player to transfer the protected WMA files from NetLibrary, I am wondering if the device supports Windows Explorer as well. --Warmest regards, --Rick Alfaro [EMAIL PROTECTED] -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Tim Grady Sent: Tuesday, September 19, 2006 10:31 AM To: 'PC audio discussion list. If you go to www.motorola.com you should be able to find info on their mp3 players. As far as ff and rw in files goes there's no audio feedback, so I just had to get used to the time I held the joystick in the ff or rw position. There's a bookmark feature for multiple bookmarks but if all you want the player to do is remember where you left off in a file it does that without you doing anything. It is audible ready, but I only use it for netlibrary or overdrive audio books. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Rick Alfaro Sent: Monday, September 18, 2006 10:56 PM To: 'PC audio discussion list. Re: help whit server.
Hi David You don't need to worry about the relay stuff. in the shoutcast plugin the only information needed is the following *the ip address or internet address and the port number given to you by ultrahost. so in the appropriate boxes, fill in the information given to you. * a description for your station so people will know what you're going to play. then, you connect to the servere with the shoutcast plugin, and if everything is set correctly, people should be able to hear you, if you give them the correct address. it'd be something like http://ultrastreams.us, followed by a colon and a 4 digit number. Hope this helps get you started. I have the Audigy 4 Pro and am fairly happy with it. Some of the included software is not to accessible but you can get along with out it most of the time. Sound quality is quite good. You may run into some problems if you intend to use it as a second audio card but I know how to get around that now. I could have gotten an M-Audio Audiophile 24/96 or 24/192. RE: mp3 player that plays wma's
Thanks for the responses folks. I did find info on the Motorola players. If I can find one of the m25 units for a good price, I may try one. One thing that was not mentioned on the Motorola site was whether it appeared as another drive in Windows Explorer when plugged into USB. It sounded like you had to use their own software to transfer files to the device. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Rick Alfaro Sent: Monday, September 18, 2006 10:56 PM To: 'PC audio discussion list. an easier work around is to select the files you want to ad with your context menue. just go to the folder or files and hit the aplications key. down arow to convert with easy cdda and press enter. it will add the files and open the program for you. - Original Message - From: "Steve Matzura" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: Sent: Tuesday, September 19, 2006 7:42 AM Subject: Easy CDDA Extractor Question >I know someone's told me how to do this in the past, it might even > have been Dave T., but my befuddled elderly brain seems to have lost > the link to that particular synaptic web page, so here goes again. > > In Easy CDDA Extractor, File Conversion tab, is it possible to drag an > input folder to an output location and have the program convert the > whole mess? Re: Easy CDDA Extractor Question
Steve, I'd think you'd have an easier time if you used the Explorer context menu interface, rather than futzing with drag and drop. In Windows Explorer, right click on the folder you want to convert. Wait for the conversion utility's dialogue to open. The source will already be filled in with the folder on which you right clicked. If you just go ahead and press F8, the output files will be placed in the source folder, along with the source files. But, if you tab through the dialogue, you will find a check box to check, to specify a different output folder. This is how I do it, all the time, and I can't imagine anything easier. Good luck. Easy CDDA Extractor Question
I know someone's told me how to do this in the past, it might even have been Dave T., but my befuddled elderly brain seems to have lost the link to that particular synaptic web page, so here goes again. In Easy CDDA Extractor, File Conversion tab, is it possible to drag an input folder to an output location and have the program convert the whole mess? If so, which of the two lists on top of the screen is source and which is destination? Hybrid Cds?
Recently, I've noticed an increasing number of music CDs for sale that are described as "hybrid" CDs. What does this designation mean: that they will play in both CD and DVD players; or what? It doesn't seem to be that they contain both CD audio, and DVD video tracks on the flip side: those seem to be designated "dual" CDs. Definitive clarification will be appreciated. Thanks.
