Re: Wireless headsets
I have a GN NetCom and it works very well. There is good audio and its posible to stay more than 100 meters away from the computer. The battery have capacity for more than 2 days. I have heard many people use a wireless phone for Skype and amateurradio with very good results. The wirelees skypephones is low cost and have a connector for a headset on the handset. The GN NetCom is more expensive. I was lucky to find a second hand. Speech software for the Treo Palm Pilot
Hello Lists! For Christmas, my wife gave me a Treo Phone (Palm Pilot 1 Device [their latest model]). I've heard of Palm Pilots, but never used one. My main question is: Is there any speech software available for this device? I installed the software and it has something called a Palm Desktop and Palm 1 Quick Install on my desktop. I think I can access the system through these icons, but what about the phone itself? This device has a full keyboard, although very small keys, with a numpad directly in the middle of the keyboard. If anyone has this evice or has used it and know about making it accessible, do let me know. I've put juice to the battery and getting ready to take a look at it today. Thanks for your help. Re: Looking for a Plextalk recording sample
Arnaud, I did a review of the PTR2 at www.longus.info. You can also listen to a demo recording there. One cannot directly edit audio files on the Plextalks. Only the DAISY index files can be modified. However, there's absolutely no recorder, with which one can edit on a card quickly. One can copy certain passages of Wave files on the Marantz PMD660, but this takes very long. On the Nagra ARES-M, it's very similar. *** Michael Lang *** You wrote: Hello friends, before perhaps puchasing a plextalk ptr2, i'd like to hear a sample of a recording with the unit, first with the internal mic, and then with an external mic such as the sony ECM MS 907 or Sony ECM MS 719, because I have both mics here I'd like to hear if the gain on the recording produce a lot of hiss for example, etc. etc. also, with the ptr2, is this possible to do some editing if one record in wav format on a memory card? Re: Speech software for the Treo Palm Pilot
Hi, You'll want to check to see what OS the phone runs on. There are three that it could use, possibly four. Some Palm devices use their OS, I'm not sure if there are separate ones for phones or not. It could also be using Pocket PC 03, Windows Mobile 5 or Windows Mobile Smartphone. There are differences in the three Windows ones, and you'll have to check on the sites of things such as Pocket Hal and Talks to see which ones they work with. As far as I know, Palm doesn't have any screenreading software out there. There might be some, but I haven't heard anything about it. Re: Ipod Nano with Itunes
Allison, I even got a note from their official list saying that it wouldn't be supported into he near future which totally annoys me. I'm not trying to sound ungrateful, but just my crappy luck. George, thanks for your one glimmer of hope, however short lived. I assure you I shall bury it in a pretty spot, lol - Original Message - From: Allison Mervis [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: PC audio discussion list. pc-audio@pc-audio.org Sent: Tuesday, December 26, 2006 11:33 PM Subject: Re: Ipod Nano with Itunes She probably doesn't know about rockbox. Re: Ipod Nano with Itunes
hmm, well I can't tell you much yet. it was gifted to me, otherwise I wouldnt get one myself. So it's been a couple of days and this is what I can tell you so far, my wife is sighted and finds navigating it awkward, but she's kinda slow with tech stuff, I can say that cuz she's not a member. haha. but I'm going to ask her to sit down and see if I can make some notes, so I can use it better. things I like, battery life is cool, they say 24 hours. but it's probably less, takes an hour to charge to eighty percent via the usb cord to the comp. sound is really nice, my headphones are better then the ones that come with the unit though. they're sony clip ons. I got the demo anapod explorer, so that makes it pretty easy to put files on the nano. defenetly a good idea to purchase anapod explorer. hmm, not sure if there are any other pros. cons, things I don't like, the dam thing is pretty slippery, it's a shame they don't come with some sort of non slip cover, they really should. there are a couple of reviews, if I can find them again I'll post them. for part of the review they destroy the machines, they drop them while walking, running, riding a bike, from the car and so on. wow what they did to the first generation and second generation. they're pretty dam tough. for the first generation, it was thrown from a car moving at fifty miles and still worked, they ran it over and finally the display went but it continued to play, so they ran it over again and i think it gave up the ghost after that. the second gen, the display gave out right away, not a good sign, it was dropped while running and the display went white, but it continued to play just fine. then they put it in the washer, let it dry for a couple of days and it played just fine. Re: Ipod Nano with Itunes
Hi George, I have no knowledge of the menus or anything just looked at anapod I might go that route. If you get the menu system down, if you wouldn't mind letting me know since it's hard to get someone to give me a hand right now with this. And Ideally I'd like to get this fixed so I can take this on a trip in a few weeks.
