Re: lost my DVD drive
Hi, I've seen this happen to mine. Similar thing, it disappears every so often from My Computer, especially when I put in CDRW media. What I did is simply start running the add hardware wizard. You get past the first couple dialogs, and if you have a disc in the drive, it will rev up and you can tell it has detected the drive again. HTH Brandon Bobcat wrote: I recently lost my DVD drive. It just wouldn't show up in my computer. I used the trouble shooter to try fixing the problem but it didn't work. So I plugged in the error message from device manager into Google and found help that got it back. It involved removing two keys from the registry. Now, I have my drive back but it will not record. It does not see recordable media. I did another search and found a Microsoft article with a work around involving the registry. This advice did not work. I did back up my registry and the keys I altered. . If anyone has come across this problem before and has a solution, I'd sure be happy to hear about it. By the way. The keys I had to remove were apparently put there by ITunes. ITunes was preinstalled on this computer and I think the problem started when I uninstalled ITunes. I'm not really sure exactly when the problem started because I haven't used the DVD burner in a while. Bob. RE: lost my DVD drive
Hi, I'm having a similar problem with one of my older computers. For some odd reason my CD rom will not spend or detect that a CD is in the drive. I ran reg scrub to see if that would fix it but it didn't . I ran check disk, a virus scan, scanned for spyware and everything and it still don't work. I'm wondering if it's a driver problem but I don't know what type of drive it is or where to find the drivers for it. Anyone have any other ideas? Otis Blue [EMAIL PROTECTED] BBS Press Service, Inc. Midi tracks missing voices in MP10
I'm trying to play midi files on an XP media center system running win media player 10 and all midi tracks sound as though they're being played on a piano. When the same files are played on other systems with similar configuration, they sound to have full orchestration. The on board sound cards are similar and no settings have been adjusted in any of the players that I'm aware of. Does anyone know where or what I should check to adjust this player to sound like the others? Any help with this would be great. TIA - Sucker-punch spam with award-winning protection. Re: Radio Station Problems
Dean, I replied off-list to Gary yesterday about this question, and he suggested I post it here. so here goes: I just went to your first linked radio station and had a similar experience. However, another page on that website has a QA, from which I copy the following two points: Question: Will your streaming system work with more than the Internet Explorer browser? Answer: Probably not. If you use an AOL browser, a browser with frames like Hotmail or any other specialized/altered browser you may not be able to get the online player to work properly. Make sure you don't have a FunWebProducts application installed on your system. It will prevent your player from working. Question: I still don't hear anything! What's wrong? Answer: Odds are good it's because you're using a pop-up ad blocker. This player pops-up, so if you've blocked pop-ups, you've blocked the tuner from opening. If you do have a pop-up blocker on your system, either temporarily disable it or hold down the CTRL key while clicking to open the Login Screen or Player. If the CTRL key doesn't work, consult the directions found in your pop-up blocker read me file. - Original Message - From: Dean Martineau [EMAIL PROTECTED] Both those stations have web pages full of graphics with no alt tags, but with JFW 8 both show links that appear to be Listen links. Re: USB TV Tuners
Amanda, don't quote me on this, but I think you may have problems running XP Media Edition with JAWS 7. I seem to remember hearing that you really should be using a JAWS Professional product to make proper use of the Media Edition. I could be totally wrong about this, but perhaps you should contact your nearest Freedom Scientific dealer to check up on this. Regards. Re: juce question
Hi, Hank, 1. Use Alt - V to bring up the View menu. 3. Arrow down to subscriptions and press the Enter key. 3. Arrow down to the podcast you want to get skipped programs from. 4. Tab to the list of available podcasts. At this point you can arrow up and down and hear announced the state as download, skip or removed, etc. Press the spacebar to changed to the desired state. That should do it. Thanks Brandon. I wish I had thought about using the hardware wizard. I'll do that if the DVD drive goes away again. A little review of the Olympus DS-50
I created a little review of this new talking recorder from Olympus. I also uploaded some demo recordings, which I made on this new machine. You can listen to all of that at www.longus.info. If you don't want to download the files, but your browser wants you to, just copy the addresses into the clipboard and paste them into the open box of a player like Winamp, Winamp can then stream the MP3 and the WMA files. *** Michael Lang *** Audio List Help, Guidelines, Archives and more... http://www.pc-audio.org To unsubscribe from this list, send a blank email to: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
professional microphones and Re: A little review of the Olympus DS-50
Top marks for all that Michael, I've just been for a listen and I'm very glad you mentioned the subject of microphones because it will be my pleasure to review some microphones that can be used for this recorder, Irivers, minidisc recorders etc in about a month and the great thing is that they're a home-maid professional product at a cheap price but more of that later.
