Its one more step, but faster and easyer if it can sync for you, as
you would most other times have to do it manually. Yes text aaloud can
open pdf. I will relook at the tags options and check if its the same.
The background audio means that you can specify a song and that song
can play and then loop wile the actual text is converted and the songs
play til the text is finish. So at the end you end up with one audio
file containing your text plus music, you can specify the volume and
such.

Steve: balabolka does not offer background audio, and it does not
offer to sync your files with ITunes after finished. And I'm not even
sure if you can insert tags for voice, speed, and audio clips in the
middle of the text like you can all do with text aloud. Yes it cost
some, but at least its worth it. And its not just one developer who do
everything and who can stop it any time or start charching money
anytime he feels like. And I just generally am carefull of open sorce
software, but that last point I guess is just me. Its not a bad
program, but I also find text aloud easyer to use, and those features
 I'm willing to pay for.

It has all the same features I reckon. What's missing in Balabolka?

Hi folks. Here's a conundrum for you, well, it is for me.

I'll try and explain as clearly as I can but it isn't a problem, just a
curiosity. I am ripping about 3,000 CDs and I've done around 850 so far.
Now the method I use is 1. I rip the disc and then when ripped I back it
 up
3 times. So, I will copy all the discs I rip to external drive 1. Then
I'll copy the same files to external drive 2. finally I will move the
 discs
I've ripped to external drive 3.I did a property check of the stuff
 I've
ripped so far and was told that the files in external drive 3 was 13,999.
External drive 1 and 2 said there were 13,994 files in each drive, 5 files
less than external drive 3. The Properties for all 3 drives gave the same
number for folders. I then by a process of elimination discovered the
folder that had the problem. The folder Carol Kidd has one album in it
called All My Tomorrows. When I open this folder there are 11 tracks in
there, as there should be. However if I do a property check of the folder
it says there are 16 files in the folder. There shouldn't be 16 tracks,
only 11. I thought these files might be hidden files and to find out what
they were I went to tools and I instructed the computer to show hidden
 files
but when I went to the album folder, there were still only 11 tracks but a
property checked still showed 16 files. Does anybody have an idea of why
this should be and what are those extra 5 files? Walter.

Hi!
Have you tried out Itunes.
I know there's an extra program to install and i am using it on the mac so i am

There's also exact audio copy which is free.

Sounds to me like this Express Rip is something like CDEX in that it gives
you a couple of choices! As much as it troubles me, I fear that maybe this
Hank Williams Complete collection is one of those that CDEX just can't get
the information from! I had ripped it a long time ago (this was back before
I knew that CDEX could be told to title the tracks) so I decided I wanted to
have the track titles in, but hate to go through the trouble of typing them
in manually! This actually is why I left CDEX for a little while as I found
out that Windows Media would do this for you right out of the box! Aw but
this was Windows Media 11; it was much simpler to do back then! But then
 WMP 12 comes along...and it's just not so cut-and-dry! I did rip a CD
with Windows Media the other day; it actually showed me the rip
button...but it won't show me that button with this particular CD
 grhrhrhrhrhrhrhrhrowl!

Hi. Not all data base will contain the information you might need. I've
just purchased the Porter Wagoner Dolly Parton 6 disc box set. This was
released on the 26th of May this year, I got it 2 weeks after the release.
However when ripping the discs with CDEX or Express Rip I could get no track
info and this was a Bear Family box set. I had to go on the web and find a
track list and enter the info manually. It is rather strange because I have
some very obscure CDs and the Data Base found that info without trouble.
You might find it of interest that Express Rip gives you the option of two
Data Bases and if one doesn't get the info, you can then try the other.
 Walter.

 Okay...so CDEX _doesn't_ used Gracenote; that's what I was wondering! So I
fail to understand why (aafter not having trouble with CDEX giving me the
track titles before) why it's doing so now! It well me be that this CD
Bboxed set hasn't been referenced, but it seems strange, for it's a Hank
Williams collection that was put out probably ten years ago (iI don't
remember the exact year it came out) but I thought surely it could be ripped
with the track information...but maybe not!

 CDEx never used GraceNote.
You have to install Player.exe to get information from GraceNote that you
 can also export to CDEx.
 It is all described here:

The Complete; that's the name of it; since I've discovered that MP3 Ripper
will do it (so will Express Rip) this tells me that there's no problem with
the CD itself! I'm probably going to try and rip another CD at a later time
and will give CDEX another shot! Although I think I've checked everything,
there is still the possibility I've got something in CDEX set wrong; just

Re: For Tom and his Express Rip problem

2014-06-27 Thread Peter Scanlon

If you are speaking about settings in CDEX.
Do this to change where the files go.
F4 to open Settings.
This should place you in the Tree View of settings, if not tab till you find
it.

From the top of the Tree, arrow down to Directories and files.
Then tab 3 times wil place you in the box you need to change the folder for
ripped files.

Then hit enter. This puts you in a Tree View of the folders on your computer
When you locate the folder you want stuff to go to hit enter.

Then get out of the Settings dialogue by going to the OK button.
Hope this helps.

Your scroll lock is usuallly next to your print screen key. It's too hard to
tell someone where it is anymore since keyboards are so diverse now. On a
standard keyboard it would be in the set of three keys to the right of the
f12 key. Print screen, scroll lock, and pause.

In Goldwave, I normally jump through recorded files in steps with commands
such as $, % or ^. This feature has stopped working. How do I reinstate it?
Notes on the subject say that I should be able to do this with the Scroll
Lock key, but where is it on an IBM keyboard?

Thanks,

Hello Walter: Thanks for offering to do this (I did remember another
program I have on here called CD Ripper) so I tried it and it seems to do
what I needed it to do! However if you would like to send me the
information you have on Express Rip, that also would be great as it'll give
me another ripping program to add to my arsenal! My email is

Hi Tom. I have done a little investigating and have found how to set the
programme to provide the information in the fashion you wish. It is
complicated and involves writing a string but I've done it and the results
are very good. If you would like me to attempt an explanation then let me
know and let me know your email address so I can send it to you. Walter.

Peter: I actually was speaking of the settings in MP3 Ripper! But thanks
for the info concerning the settings in CDEX as that might just come in
handy someday!

It would seem that way, but I haven't found it yet! Looked in Options...but
where it says Destination Directory, there seems to be no way to change
where it goes! But maybe I'm just not looking in the right place!

You should be able to change where it puts the files in the Settings.

CDEX will put track number and name and title or what ever you want.
What do you mean it puts it in computer.
I'm now changed to CDEX now that winamp won't get titles from Gracenote.

Thanks Walter; seems like every CD Ripper has it's good and bad points!
This MP3 Ripper seems to be good; only thing so far I don't like is that it
puts things in computer...so far, don't know if there's any way to change
this or not! But it _is_ ripping with the information: number of track,
title and artist; am still baffled as to why CDEX won't do this for me!
Again...many thanks!

have to think how to explain it without making myself sound like an idiot.

I did try it and it seems good, easy to change the voice and other
parameters, accessible with Jaws.

Thanks,

Ah, it's the one of the three, that Jaws doesn't identify when you press it.
Best,

Your scroll lock is usuallly next to your print screen key. It's too hard to
tell someone where it is anymore since keyboards are so diverse now. On a
standard keyboard it would be in the set of three keys to the right of the
f12 key. Print screen, scroll lock, and pause.

Hello all,

In Goldwave, I normally jump through recorded files in steps with commands
such as $, % or ^. This feature has stopped working. How do I reinstate it?
Notes on the subject say that I should be able to do this with the Scroll
Lock key, but where is it on an IBM keyboard?

Thanks,
Clive
