Yes, received them about 15 minutes ago and have given them a quick listen
using my Yamaha RXV-520 Receiver.

Sound is very nice though I can appreciate I think a comment a fello list
member made when he said he thought these cans were In Your Face,
certainly the mid range stands out but the bass is there along with a crisp
and distinct top end.

If you like bass heavy cans then these aren't the one's for you but if you
like to hear music the way it was recorded - meaning you like hearing an
honest reproduction of the recording - then these cans do a surprisingly
good job for the price - wouldn't expect otherwise really given that the
Grado Labs SR60I cans won the Stereophile Magazine Award -.

The cans are of a nice feel and good construction, they're an open ear type
so you can hear what's going on around you.

The lead is 15 feet long and of an excellent heavy duty quality, this is
something you don't see on cans at this price often, one end is the thick
easy to grasp plug whilst the other end is a Y shape where the cable
separates into two slightly thinner cables, one for each can.

The phones themselves are cusioned with nice thick comfy foam, again thicker
than you commonly find usually for on the ear type cans.

Both phones swivil, I'm not sure what the idea of this is but they do
regardless of the idea.

These cans are really meant for a good hi-fi setup, you may find a headphone
amp is required if using these cans with a MP3 player, iPhone etc.

 Good evening Hank and list,

A pretty decent and free multi-track sound editor is audacity which can be
 downloaded from
 http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
The program can also be obtained via unintended installation from
www.ninite.com/audacity. It does a pretty good job and has seamless
 looping
and is generally effective at noise reduction. Other multi-track editors
 are
Reaper and Sonar, with Sonar being the most expensive. Reaper has a fairly
generous trial period and is fully functional during the evaluation phase.

 HTH and best regards,

Hey Guys, I'm helping my partner get her Winamp running and accessible. I am
not a JAWS user, (I use Window Eyes and the app that goes with it makes
Winamp run very accessibly for what I do with it), but Winamp doesn't seem
to be so accessible on her Windows 7 JAWS 13 system. I installed the latest
version of Winamp Pro, version 6.22, which is the same one I'm using on my
system. I can't seem to use the control tab to go from the library to the
main window and back again, among other problems. What I'd like to know is
are there still scripts for Winamp to make it more accessible with JAWS? If
so, how can I get them and how do I install them? Or, are they already built
in? I know that JAWS does come with some scripts already set up by FS. But
if the Winamp scripts are built in, how do I make them run. They don't seem
to be running now, or at least not very well.

Thanks for any help.

Evan

more direct to me. I don't know maybe it's just me. You know what else would
be some what interesting, if yould could have an XLR jack right on the PC it

 Hello Pall,
I don't know about stand alone XLR to USB adapter converters.
But if you really want to make voice recordings using an XLR microphone,
you can use a USB mixer that has XLR mic inputs on it.
 My best regards.
  John.

I can vouch for this, as I did it about six months ago. And it seems you
don't have to redo it when you upgrade Skype.

Nolan,

There is a work around for this if you want to do it. First close down
Skype. Navigate to the skype.exe file under your program files folder and
bring up the properties for it. Go under the compatibility tab and check
the compatibility mode box and set the OS to Vista and click ok. Now your
Skype window will close out like you are used to and won't be in the tab
order any longer. I did this with no ill effects that I could notice and
seems to work fine.

I have been a member for 6 months, and it is the best blind chat network I

There is also a Cummunicator, which has many rooms where you can chat, and

Please go to the website above and have a good look,

 Hi John,

The VIP Conduit voice chat community uses a voice chat program they've
developed themselves called the VIP Communicator. Because it has been
designed for blind people it is completely accessible. It works with
your sound card using speakers and a microphone or you can chat using a
USB headset/microphone. More details are at www.vipconduit.com. It
isn't really like Skype. I hope this helps.

Peter,

I don't think my IMic continually tried to steal away the default soundcard
assignment, the way that my Logitech headset tries to do, and as most other
USB devices try to do, as well. But, if you have this problem, you should
simply edit jfw.ini, to force JAWS to use the output device you wish it to,
regardless of which device has the default output device assignment. Do you
know how to do this?

And, no, the Soundblaster Live 24bit external doesn't continually try to
steal the default device assignment, just the logitech headset does that.

Hi Donna, that is exactly what I want to do as well. My entire cd

tunes from back in the day. Some quite hard to find. Then there's the
vinyl! I used a thing called an inport by xitel but it kept knocking jaws
out. Your SB device didn't do that?

That's a good additional feature, but I will just turn on the external
player and hit record on Goldwave. My only worry then will be that the
sound levels are okay. I still haven't learned where those controls are in
GW.

Subject: iMic

Hey, I hope this isn't regarded as a product advertisement, because it is
truly related to blind access to audio technology. I've been trying to find
the iMic for several weeks now. Griffin Technology cannot keep up with the
demand for this plug and play external sound device for recording on your
pc. They are continually sold out. Well I talked to some person there a
few days ago and they have just released another batch. I got an email from
the place where I reserved mine at about 3:00 am this morning. So I leapt
out of bed and ordered it. Psyched! Just wanted to alert folks on this
list that the iMic is available. Not an ad nor a product endorsement!

Cheers,

Peter

yes thats correct unless you just want to record the audio while playing
 the
dvd wich i've done several times. using replay av for this is actually
 very
easy because you can set the record timer and have it converted to what
 ever
 you want when its finnished.

Am I correct in my understanding that the full Replay AV suite does NOT
include a tool to rip DVD audio to, for example, .wav files, and that I
would still need something like DVD Extractor for that job?

Anyone know what the size limit for a text file is with this? I tried
running it with an e-book in .txt format, and Winamp crashed.

Just wanted to comment on this plugin. i've tried it and it actually
  works
pretty good. It is an imput plugin so the first thing you will want to
  do
is once installed bring up the preferences and then configure it for
the
speech you will want to use. It seems from what i can tell to use
sapi4
  and
I also have a few other voices here and it seems to work with them.
You
  can
adjust the rate but not the pitch. Once you have it adjusted just type
l
  in
winamp and locate the text you'd like to read and it will read it for
  you
using the standard winamp keys. This is pretty cool.
