Re: [vip-l] Re: Audio Editing software
Yes, though if you have acces to a dual deck with autoreverse I would suggest using it. I set my recording to stereo and have the autoreverse turned on. Thus, I get tracks 1 and 2 in the left channel and 3 and 4 in the right. The right is always in reverse so I select the right channel, control shift r, then press alt c r, to reverse that channel before saving. i save the channel, alt f v, as left.wav and right.wav. - Original Message - From: "George Cham" To: "'PC Audio Discussion List'" Sent: Sunday, December 20, 2009 3:09 PM Subject: RE: [vip-l] Re: Audio Editing software Another question Rob, Lets say I record sound on one side of a cassette. I think you may be able to drop queues during the recording at normal speed. Re: Audio Editing software
Are you trying to open a MP3 or save to MP3? If saving then select file menu, select save as and you'll find "MpEG MP3 Audio" as listed as one of the formats you can save to. When opening a file selected "All supported formats" in the file type of Goldwave and you should be able to locate MP3 files. If that doesn't work then you don't have the LAME-enc.dll file in your "c:\windows\system32" directory. LAME is a MP3 encoder which is freely available. Hi Dave, thanks for your great work with Audacity . - Original Message - From: "David Bailes" To: Sent: Monday, July 20, 2009 4:39 AM Subject: Re: Audio Editing Software Hi George, The latest release of Audacity is 1.3.8 which came out at the end of the last week. Although a small number of people have had problems installing it on XP, the developers are working on the problem, and there is a temporary fix if needed. There's a new version of the Jaws guide which someone else referred to, and it's available at: http://vip.chowo.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/jaws/Audacity-1.3.8-Guide.html If you've got a recording which you want to save as separate tracks, then you could do something like this: Make sure the track is selected (enter toggles the selection). Press home to make sure you're at the beginning of the track. Then go round the following loop: 1. Press P to play, and then press ] at the point where you want the track segment to end, and then spacebar to stop the playback. 2. There's now audio selected, and you can save this by choosing Export selection from the file menu. 3. After the export, press right arrow which deselects the current selection and moves the cursor to the end of that selection, so that you're ready to go round the loop again. Note that several ways of moving the cursor and refining which audio is selected are given in the guide. Re: Audio Editing Software
Hi George, The latest release of Audacity is 1.3.8 which came out at the end of the last week. Although a small number of people have had problems installing it on XP, the developers are working on the problem, and there is a temporary fix if needed. Re: Audio Editing software
You oculd always use CDex (free), goldwave (not free), total recorder (not free), mp3 direct cut (free), and many more to accomplish the same task. If you choose to use Audacity, then you may want to chekc out the tutorial from: http://vip.chowo.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/jaws/Audacity-1.3.7-Guide.html This is asuming that you use JAWS. If you do not use JAWS, then the expirience may be a little different.
