Re: itunes error, 11,222
Hi! The best thing anyone can do at this point - if at all possible - is to uninstall iTunes and use another piece of software to play audio. I've been working on a clients computer for a good while trying to fix problems with iTunes and - if it weren't for the fact that its required in this situation - I'd dump it completely. iTunes issue solved, here's some valuable info
Hi guys! Through a bit of research, I finally got my tones onto my phone. To make this short and really simple, if you see that ominous erase and sync button, do not panic! It will not actually erase anything from your phone, at least as far as ringtones go. Just to be safe, after pressing the erase and sync button, I was then able to see that old familiar screen with the 2 radio buttons sync selected tones or sync all ringtones. To be safe, I chose all ringtones and when i synced, everything showed up just as it should. That erase and sync button and the super-scary message that goes along with it is probably one of the most poorly-worded error messages I've ever seen. So if you run into this sort of thing, be sure to read the iTunes sreens very carefully, so you'll be able to tell how many tones you're syncing. In short it works and I'm very happy with the results. Thanks guys!
Re: problems adding custom made ringtones to iTunes in windows 10
Hi I just don't want to bother them because someone else really might be in a jam, and *really* need some accessibility help. I'm pretty good with setting up an iDevice, I've set several up now but what if a newby is calling for the very first time and is upset and confused? Sure, I understand I qualify, but that doesn't make it so. If I can't find any answers that may be what I have to do. I've seen a lot of stuff about this on the internet, and the sollution to transfer purchases works for some folks but not others. I very rarely do this but this is one of the very rare times when I would love to see iOS become more like Android. On a droid you can just put an SD card into a reader, or connect your phone to the pc with a USB cable, and copy and paste your tones in the proppper place, and they just work. I know a lot of you guys on here use macs, but remember, this is in Windows 10, using the most recent version of iTunes, screenreader is Window-eyes 9.4.0. Is it safe to hit the remove and sync button, or if I do that, will the only thing that's removed are the tones? If all it'll remove is my current batch of tones that's ok, but my concern is losing everything else such as apps, and music. I'm a bit lost to tell you the truth. I hope someone has experience with this. Thanks for any help, guys!

Clarification on the iTunes and custom ringtones issue...
Hi folks I feel like I may not have explained myself well enough before, so please let me try to explain things a bit better by going through the steps I do to do this, and then maybe someone with some knowledge can tell me where I may be going wrong if I am. I don't know if I am that's the thing. I have imported a folder full of custom made ringtones into iTunes. They're in the usual m4r format, and show up just fine when I go into the view menu, then media kind and arrow down to tones and press enter. So, they all show up and iTunes recognizes them just fine. 2. next, I already have my iPhone connected to my pc so I tab over to the button labeled iPhone and press the space bar. I am now presented with a screen that pops up and shows me several different things, most notably a list of different playlists. if I am understanding this correctly, all the tones I've already imported are marked to be synced to my iPhone. Window-eyes does not read the state of this, so I'm going purely on guess work here. So, I find the list of playlists by arrowing down until I hear tones, and then I keep tabbing to the sync tones checkbox. This is different from before, because there used to be a radio button that said sync selected tones. But all I've got here is a sync tones checkbox, so when I check it, iTunes displays the following message. Are you sure you want to remove existing music, movies, TV shows, books, and tones from this iPhone and sync with this iTunes library? Music, movies, TV shows, books, and tones synced to Chris's iPhone” from other iTunes libraries will be removed and items will be synced from this iTunes library.' My only 2 choices are, erase and sync, or cancel. The question isif I hit that Erase and sync button will the only thing that's erased will be my tones? or, will everything on the phone be erased? Why can't this just be simple? I hope someone will kindly correct me if I'm doing this incorrectly. Thanks.

RE: SV: apple music streaming service with iTunes?
Yes, I use ITunes on my PC and stream albums, playlists, and their radio stations that are comprised of music that either I have indicated wanting to listen to or what ITunes thinks I might like to listen to. Actually, I don't really remember how I set it up. I used my IPod Touch to do most of it think... I go to the For You radio button, for example, check it, tab to another spot and a list of albums and playlists appear based upon what ITunes feels I am interested in listening to. Or, I do a search for specific albums or artists. Itunes way of sorting.
Hi! It makes me very frustrated to have albums split into more than one part. For example i have thriller here with Michael Jacson and that album is splitted so that all songs exept one is in the same folder. The only song thats not is the one he sings with paul mcartney. The girl is mine i think its called. I also have a greatest hits with marvin gaye. That album is split in to a bunch depending on who he sings together with. It makes me go mad and frustrated. What do i do? /A

When you put in the CD, it's going to ask you if you want to importe said CD. Tell it no for now. Then tab beyond the CD info button and you will here import CD button. Hit that, now you get your options. Once you set it all to your liking then hit Okay. It'll now import the CD. I'm importing a Santana CD as I write this because I had to do itt to tell you exactly. A Feww iTunes Tips
Hi! these are a few things I’ve picked up from playing around with iTunes and they’re real time saves though elementary to the point that I’m repeating old news but still worth knowing all the same smile. Okay, you’ve got a whole folder filled with music, thousands of tracks perhaps and you want to add it to the “Songs” in iTunes? Well instead of using iTunes to open the folder or whatever just open iTunes, select the “Music” radio button, select “My Music”, go to the “Songs” list, go to the open folder with music on your computer, select all the tracks, go back to the “Music” list in iTunes and paste, your computer will copy all those tracks onto the “Songs” list. The are other nice things along similar lines you can do so have a fiddle and explore. ** Dane Trethowan grtd...@internode.on.net Skype: grtdane12 Phone US (213) 438-9741 Phone U.K. 01245 79 0598 Phone Australia (03) 9005 8589 Mobile: +61400494862 faceTime +61400494862 Fax +61397437954 Twitter: @grtdane
iTunes and Other Music Services
so as to avoid any confusion, iTunes really has nothing whatever to do with an iPhone 6 or any other iPhone model for that matter given that - the version of iTunes that appears on an iPhone - is dependent on the IOS running at the time - in the case of an iPhone 6 that IOS would most certainly be IOS 8 and above -. Re: iTunes and Other Music Services
Dane, There seems to be some confusion between iTunes the software and the iTunes division at Apple. The company puts all its music efforts in this division, whether or not it calls them iTunes. When it bought Beats Music, Apple signaled that it definitely wants to shake up its music offering. We will see how this plays out in the next year or two. Is iTunes falling behind the times? It would be if people stopped using it which they're obviously not but I do understand where you're coming from and I think it likely that Apple will merge or form alliances with other Music service, I think Apple bought one recently. Beats was acquired in the spring, too early to be incorporated into iOS8 or the iPhone of 2014, the features of which are developed and designed many months in advance. I believe it will be until the 2015 introduction of the new iOS and iPhones will we see what the new people and change in culture will mean for Apple users. One big way for Apple to differentiate itself would be to re-establish the company’s supremacy in online and portable music. The Internet Radio Button in iTunes
Hi! I've changed the subject line so we all know exactly what this thread is about smile.. The latest version of iTunes is 11.4 The Internet Radio button - according to my Windows 7 computer running JAWS - can be reached by tabbin around, I hear it announced just after I leave to Playlists button. I refer to my system as I'm not exactly sure whether all iTunes layouts on all computers are the same. The next thing I would check is to see that Internet Radio is actually showing on your screen, to do this go into general Preferences from the Edit menu of iTuens and make sure the Internet Radio view is checked. Hello Dane, Sorry if I spelled your name incorrectly, I went back into Itunes while I still had your email reply opened, and as it turns out, Internet radio was unchecked along with many other options by default. I checked the (internet radio) button, and the treeview containing the various genres is now showing. I checked, and I too have version 11.4. Re: The Internet Radio Button in iTunes
Your question was a good one. iTunes has evolved into a many layer entertainment hub and its easy to get lost in the software. I mainly use iTunes on my Mac and most concepts presented in iTunes apply equally to Windows. There's a good book worth the read entitled Take Control Of iTunes, it was written originally for the Mac but Windows users will be able to make perfect sense of most of the content. Looking for Accessible Software to Access iTunes Backups.
Hello Gang, I'm using the latest build of JAWS 15 under Windows 7 64 Bit Home Premium and a TripleTalk USB hardware synth. I'm looking for an accessible program that will extract audio files from a Backup of my iPod Touch 5 gen (Itunes Back up) to my PC. It will give me the option of having those audio files automatically converted to MP3 format. I did come across a program called iExplorer, but the interface for it is totally inaccessible using JAWS. I have recorded a few conversations on my iPod Touch through the Skype app that I wish to have on-demand access to those audio files on my home computer. Very very important. Can anyone suggest a Free or Paid application for doing what I want? Thanks for your help.
Converting iTunes files to MP3 using iTunes
Hi there It used to be pretty straight forward to do this in previous versions of iTunes. The shift F10 option seems to have changed now. Re: re itunes
There is a download button at the bottom of the checkboxes. Enter on that and it will open a new site and ask if you want to save the file. I usually just choose run and let it download and install the program. So after checking that box hit b for button and hit enter. Then either save the file and run that file or just let it run from that dialog. Re: Itunes
I can understand why that is and its probably not a good idea to play about with your iTunes library with other pieces of software. Not only does iTunes keep the music organised in separate folders - optional - but it also keeps a database of what you've downloaded, what you've bought, what you've imported and so on. It may be that if other pieces of software start fiddling with things then the library becomes out of sync according to the iTunes database. RE: Itunes
There is, but it's purpose is to bring copies of external music files into iTunes. It doesn't re-examine files iTunes already knows about but may have been moved or changed by Windows or other programs, as, for instance, the Winamp re-scan function does. I think most other players with a library can do that. The lack of it in iTunes is something that has been complained about for years by iTunes users. The suspicion is that Apple keeps it that way to discourage people from using other players and making them stick to iTunes. Many people lose access to lots of their music files and never really realise why because of this. Re: ITunes Player
Yes I can understand where you're coming from there, iTunes is not my main player, I use VLC to play CD'S and just about everything else given that VLC allows for better quality audio as it uses its own audio decoders and encoders, can easily play a wider variety of formats etc. Where itunes comes into its own is - as I think you were illuding to - its online integration with the store, Internet Radio, I use the Match and iTunes radio music services often and so forth. It used to be that earlier versions of iTunes supported external plug-ins , at one time you could play FLAC format etc with iTunes but that ability seems to have gone which is a shame, guess the only saving grace that FLAC - being a lossless audio format - can be converted to Lossless M$a format which iTunes will play happily. The last message from Chris got me wondering, what do people think of iTunes match? I use it here all the time and have found it very useful and not just for syncing my music library between 5 computers and 3 IOS devices. Some time ago I was sampling some LP records, I scanned the covers and entered the track names into iTunes, Itunes match then provided me with 256 AAC+ versions of the songs i'd sampled, thought that was rather neat and just showed me that I'd wasted hours of time given that the AAC+ versions were far better quality than anything I could have done smile. Re: ITunes Player
Well, I'm not in a position to be able to use an audio system. My PC and the headphones I use to listen to music are my audio system. So the only bass and treble controls I have are in whatever player I use to play music. Hence my concern with an equalizer. I do intend to check out iTunes at some point. I've heard many good things about it, but I'm in no hurry. Unless some new audio format comes along with content that I really really want to listen to, or I get a new PC with an OS that doesn't support Winamp, I think I'll stick with it for a while yet. Re: ITunes Player
Yes you can. I don't have iTunes myself, but I've been to sites that have links to listen to streams that are marked iTunes and (often) Winamp, both mentioned for the same stream. For example, you can set your Shoutcast streams to play in iTunes. Sometimes they're mentioned in separate links, but it's the same address. For instance, The Legend Oldies has a link to listen in Winamp and another for iTunes, but they're the same stream. I know because when I click on the link to play the iTunes stream, it plays in Winamp, and the bookmark is the same address. Re: ITunes Player
I can assure you that iTunes and VLC have Graphic Equalisers in them and I would imagine that Windows Media Player would have similar, some sound cards and the Windows sound system itself usually offer bass and treble controls though how accessible these may be can very much depend on the sound card you're using. Only me of course but when I'm listening through headphones I've certainly never found it necessary to use an equaliser, flat is good enough but I appreciate that everyone is different. On 22/11/2013 3:38 AM, Evan Reese wrote: Well, I'm not in a position to be able to use an audio system. Yes iTunes works brilliantly under Windows now than it ever has. I just do not use it as a player but rather as an online catalogue for anything audio and to import CDs which I later play in Winamp. rhapsody? ITunes? pros? cons?
The subject line sets this up I am looking at both I've had a rhapsody account in the past and my so far 2 complaints with it were first that on top of a subscription you appear to be charged on a per download basis Am I wrong? Is there something hidden within rhapsody that I am missing? My second complaint is that Rhapsody does not work outside the US so I was being billed for service I could not use while in the UK. Now to ITunes. First complaint m4a. Now I know most state of the art devices support m4a but I have also heard that manufacturers are moving away from support for m4a. Who is correct? Searching iTunes on the PC is for me a master class in swearing like a sailor but on the phone the process is somewhat less irksome. What if any experiences have you folks had with either or both? Hello all I have an update. Sound Taxi worked a treat. However the problem is I cannot seem to save it as just audio. I tried aac and it wouldnt play in my media player of choice, Winamp. I then tried Mp3 and it couldn't convert because, apparently, there was no data to convert. I'm like what gives, as it converted to Mp4 just fine. Bear in mind I'm using the trial so only got the first 3 minutes of the video. But at least it worked. Not sure if I'm going to purchase it though because of problems saving just the audio portion. Re: converting itunes m4v files to mp3
Hello, Hi, Your last point would depend entirely upon the quality of the playback devices, and recording devices. If the playback system can reproduce the actual quality in the original, then the recording could be as good as extracting the data to .mp3 format. Just a late night thought. I'm just guessing at who you're directing this to and what you're talking about, since you didn't include the message you're replying to, but I suspect you're right, although it seems like there are more variables involved with the play back and recording devices then there is with just one piece of software that will be working directly with the bits. Goog points. Thanks. Joe At 17:01 29/03/2013, you wrote: I convert video files to audio files all the time. The resulting audio files take up a fraction of the space of the original video files. Plus, although it's probably not an issue in this case, the audio files are much more portable and can be played on many more devices. Converting files also takes a fraction of the time and results in better quality than playing the video file and recording it in real time. I haven't used MrV files before, but if I were to work with them on Windows, I'd check out Switch before anything else. On 03/29/2013 10:43 AM, Joe Paton wrote: Surely m4v files are video format?
