I got one !!was Re: Power Screw On C-crane FM Transmitter?
Thanks to all of you I did it and called the C Crane company and ordered one yesterday. I should be receiving it next Wednesday!! I'm sooo excited! I will be free to roam around with out missing a single thing. I have a radio in nearly every room of the house and I have a walkman radio, so I am totally FREE!!! I can't thank you guys enough for the info on this. If it is even half as good as you guys think it is I'll be tickled pink. The next stop is Radio Shack for the "Y" splitter and I am all hooked up! I have a tiny apartment so I may not have to mess with the power screw but, it is nice to know that it is there if I do have to boost it a bit. It is amazing how many walls there can be in one little space! Thanks and I'll write again when I get my new toy! Thanks again to all of you for all of your help. Re: Power Screw On C-crane FM Transmitter?
Hi, I would suppose that plugging it into the headphone jack would turn off the speakers, if plugging headphones in does, so your best bet would be a simple y connector, of which others have written. I love the unit and use it every day. I have xm radio in my computer, so I transmit that, I play all my music that way now, making the cd's as obsolete as they themselves made the turntable. Rusty Rusty, Thanks for the info. What happens if you plug it into the headphone jack of the speakers? Does it act like if you put in a headphone in there? I mean do the speakers themselves stop producing sound? Thanks, Shannon - Original Message - From: "russell Bourgoin" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "PC audio discussion list. Hi, The screw boosts the output power. You may not need to tinker with it if the unit works well enough for your needs. I like to go out side with a radio on the nice sunny summer days, so I cranked it up. Thanks Tom, That is kind of what I was thinking too. That I may need a new card so I'll have two outs from it. I want my cake and eat it too. I want to listen away from my computer and I want to still be able to hear it in the room with it. Picky, huh! I know that if I put head phones in the ear phone jack the speakers don't transmit sound anymore. That is what I think will happen with this unless it is different from a set of head phones. Re: Power Screw On C-crane FM Transmitter?
Thanks for the link. That is the one!! I was reading the description and it says that you can either plug it in to the line out of the sound card or into the ear phone jack on the speakers. This may sound silly but if you plug it into the earphone jack on the speakers will the speakers stop playing the sound? If that is the case one would rather use the line out of the sound card right?. Now for the other silly question. I have speakers hooked up now. Where are they plugged into? I know that sounds silly but am I already using the out line of the sound card with the speakers? I think this is a one channel out put sound card so I am thinking that there will be only one place for this line out. Am I right or wrong? If I am right is there a splitter I can buy or am I going to have to get a new sound card? If I have to get a new sound card how hard are they to install? Sorry for all the questions. Shannon: The product that you're most likely looking for is an FM transmitter; I'm not sure of the exact name. But they can be gotten from the C-Crane company. You'd think that..as many times as I've heard their phone number..that I'd know it by heart! But alas..I can't think of it right at the moment! I'm sure that there are many on the list that do know it..and will point you in the right direction! I, myself, found one of those..as you called it, "do-dads" under my tree; I'm just hoping I can locate that place in the back of my computer where it's supposed to go! Re: Power Screw On C-crane FM Transmitter?
Hello, I know that this has also been asked and answered before, but where can you get this item? some one posted that they had attempted to buy a unit like this and received one that only transmitted 15 feet. I looked at my local radio shack and he says that what he has was designed for a car and will only transmit 15 feet also. I am not sure what brand that the radio shack guy was talking about I am not sure that this guy was the one with any answers. He said that what he had would not work on a home computer anyway. Santa, grin, was going to put one of these under the tree for me, but since the info didn't sound as if it would work he didn't do it. Can any one help me find this doo-dad? Thanks again. I hope all had a nice holiday week end. Shannon - Original Message - From: "Paul Hutson" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "PC audio discussion list. Re: Power Screw On C-crane FM Transmitter?
Hi there, It's well hidden. You need a good fine bladed knife or screwdriver, and then turn the unit over. It's hard to feel this but a rectangle near the top of the back is actually a piece of plastic that can be peeled off. Below that you will find the small holes for putting a jeweler's screwdriver, such as one uses to tighten screws in eyeglasses. You need to carefully insert the screwdriver in to the left most opening and gently turn the adjustment all the way clockwise. Will [EMAIL PROTECTED] On Fri, 24 Dec 2004, Paul Hutson wrote: Hi all.
