Re: TV tuner cards:

2007-09-09 Thread Christopher Chaltain
As I said, I got it from Frye's at one of those after Thanksgiving Day
or after Christmas Day sales. I think it cost $20 after rebate, although
it might have been free after rebate. Unfortunately, I don't see a model
number on the unit itself. Sorry I don't have more information, but my
point was that TV tuners on a USB dongle do exist.

Re: TV tuner cards:

2007-09-08 Thread Christopher Chaltain
It looks like it's an analog dongle but KWorld does have some digital
products. I did a quick search on Yahoo! and I saw some digital dongles.
It doesn't look like they come with the same PVR-Plus software that the
analog dongles come with, so there's no telling how accessible it would be.

Hi, Since the subject of TV tuner cards have come up on this list I'd
like to know whether you can buy a Tv tuner card if you have a lap top
computer. Someone told me that you couldn't get one if you had a lap
top computer. I've got a friend who has a lap top and would be
interested in buying a Tv card tuner if it is possible to buy one
using a lap top. If it is possible to buy a Tv card for a lap top I'd
be interested in finding out which one would be the best to buy.
Thanks.

Thanks.

High Terry,
I don't mean to sound cruel, but whoever told you that, they told you a lie.
If the notebook has USB ports, then you can use a USB TV tuner card on it.
As for witch one to buy, I haven't explored that territory as of yet.
But I will keep all of you posted when I do.

Hi Terri,

I think the best way to get a TV tuner card for a laptop is to use one that
plugs into an USB port. There are also TV tuner cards made specifically for
laptops, but I don't know too much aboutthese.

Hi, Yes, it must. I was able to record programs I was watching and then
able to read the titles of what had been taped so that I could click on
which ever one I wanted to watch.

What I haven't yet figured out how to do, is set up to tape a program. I
know it does that, but I don't know how.

Take care, Vicky

Hi Sorry, You're right, that didn't make sense. Actually, I can't remember
right now, how it works. The only thing I remember, is that I needed a
cable splitter, so perhaps they both hook up.

I just had my whole system taken down today, because I am moving. I'll keep
your message and email address and get back to you in a little over a week,
when I hope to have my system back up and running.

with the Adapt Tech that ended with a special end that went on the front of

You'll want to have your coaxial cable going in to your computer, so you
will have maximum control of your TV commands.

Good luck and let me know if I can be of any more help.

You could use an IR blaster hooked to the USB port. I never tried this
before though, and you would then need something like Snapstream Beyond TV
because Replay doesn't yet support these.

Hi Jon,

Yep, and, once you do that, you lost almost all advantages of doing this in

RE: Tv Tuner Cards

2007-03-10 Thread Jon C. Pierson
Hi Darrell,
I'm not sure about digital cable, I just have basic hooked directly into the
card which is 125 channel. My guess is that a converter box going into the
card set to the appropriate channel like in the old Vcr days would act
similarly.

I'm using a Hauppauge psi card and the software works fine.
I did write some scripts so that messages would be announced as to station
name and call letters when arrowing through the stations but that wasn't
really needed if you know your channels.

Re: TV Tuner Cards & Programmer Wants to Help us

2006-09-12 Thread Brent Harding
I'd be interested in this. It'd be especially cool if one could record just
audio as an option so I can throw imtoo converter away for good. I'd use
Replay converter but Snapstream likes to record mpeg-2 which Replay won't
support. I can't seem to move stuff up and down the list so that the stuff I
record from cable that repeats over and over takes a back seat to a show on
a local channel that airs once a week. I made the mistake of hitting record
always in the web interface, and it does just that at all cost.

If there is nothing which will work with ledtech, then are there other

Subject: tv tuner cards and accessible software

Hi
Can anyone recommend any accessible software which will work with a ledtech
tv tuner card? Their software which is provided with the card is not
accessible at all, so I can't add fm radio stations or adjust any other
settings.

If there is nothing which will work with ledtech, then are there other
reliable tv tuner cards which come with accessible software?

Re: Tv tuner cards and related issues.

2004-10-07 Thread Stephen Robertson
I have a tv tuner card and dvd burner. However, if I record from the tv
tuner card on my hard drive with the software provided the quality of audio
and video is not good enough to burn on to a dvd. Any suggestion on how I
could accomplish this, ie, differnet software to record from the tv ard?

Thanks.

How much do you want to actually spend Don really is the question because
all prices Are different. I Just Bought An new All in wonder 8X Video card
for a new machine that I am building and i paid
230 for it at Frys. It depends on what you want. This new card I can't
comment on just yet since we're still getting parts together for this new
machine and i won't be able to comment on the new machine till the
beginning of 2004 but let me say that the all in wonder is rated quite
high. It's all video and a tv stereo tuner card so it would be a good one.
Always try and think about what you'd like and what you are willing to
spend. I haven't built a new system in 3 years and it's time for me
although this machine runs fantastic but time to update to new and
hopefully greater technology. Look at it this way if you put in cheap fans
they will give you trouble. My honest recommendation for products is
Outpost.com which is Frys Electronics. They can sell you stuff at great
prices for the most part. We have built oh goodness dozens of systems on
my
dining room table for people and rarely have we ever had to return stuff
to
frys. Pinical makes a great card for around 80. I understand the software
is quite excessible. it's a tv tuner card with video. Now if tv tuning is
not your interest then you can find video cards for 12 bucks but be aware
that you will want to make sure that your mother board will support the
card. I hope this info is helpful.

Hi.
I have a Hauppauge WinTV 401 which works well and has accessible
software.

You can also use software like Beyond TV

with this card, and Snapstream's software is quite accessible, too.
I haven't tried to read any on screen information, so can't tell you
whether
it can be done with this card.

I've been chatting about software that drives tv tuner cards and I'd be
interested if you own one to please tell us of your experience. I
understand for example that Pinacle makes a great tv tuner card and the
software is quite accessible with Window-eyes. Another company that makes
fairly accessible software to control the tv tuner card is Leadtek so I
understand. I'd be interested to know your experience if you own one of
these tv tuner cards. For example some tv chanels scroll such things as
news headlines on the screen. My friend who uses the Pinacle software
tells
me that through a web page He can actually read these headlines and so
forth.

Hi. I really can't tell you if these things are accessible with jaws
because i've never had the chance to use it with my Pinnacle card. As for
onscreen headlines, yes, i've tried it before and it works a charm. Btw, I
went over to the website yesterday, and I read that they've resolved the
issue with the sound blaster series. But their advice is that end users
should use it with the audigi series rather then the sblive series. Cheers!

Can I expand this a little? If they work with Window Eyes does this mean

I have an Asus FM/TV tuner card which worked quite well for a while (now

difficult as it was accessible but only in certain parts and relied upon
the Jaws cursor a lot. I hagve also heard that the Hauppage software is
good - as good as the Pinnacle though?

Also do any of these programs allow us to access an EPG on a website so
that we can choose a programme and have it recorded easily?

One final question. What is the name of the Pinnacle card and software and
if anyone has a Hauppage one what is its name and number?

Hi. I have a Pinnacle card. Yes, the software is very accessible with
window eyes, and i too am a window eyes user. However, i've heard that
because these cards take up alot of resources, and so does the SBLive
series, there is often a conflict between the 2. I myself have a delta
10-10 installed, and the delta and the Pinnicle seems to have struck up a
very good relationship. Also, there was a time when your pc would hang
if you were watching tv for like a couple of hours, and the pc was
inactive and the screen saver came into effect. This bug seems to have
been squashed, and i can now watch tv, check my mail, and concentrate on
learning programming, all at the same time without fear of my pc hanging.
Also, and this is very important, i can access all the broadcasts,
whether they be on VHF, UHF or cable. All in all, I am extremely happy
with my Pinnacle tv tuner card. Cheers!
