Nero 6.0 (most accessible), Nero 7.0 (95.9% accessible), and trial of Nero
8.0 beta ( I would say about 85% accessible). The percentage of
accessibleness is based off of JAWS, not Window Eyes..

2007-10-06 Thread albert griffith
A satisfactory answer could not be developed without some additional
information. do you have needs other than burning? How important is it
that you can choose between many formats for your output files or will the
MP3 format suffice. How important is keyboard accessibility? Others will
no doubt think of more avenues which should be explored but this will get
you started thinking. for now, you can use Windows Media player which you
already have on your system.

To say that Nero isn't good at anything because it does everything sounds
cute but resides far short of the truth. It sounds s if you've already
given the question some though, so, what do you think might be a good
burner? Let's start there.

Well actually, if it comes to just copying Audio CD'S and you want
accurate results all the time then Exact Audio Copy thrashes Nero,
the main reason being that with Exact Audio Copy you can set the
ofsets for your drive, with Nero you can't.

2007-10-06 Thread Dane Trethowan
Nero is excellent for burning data but as I've stated in a previous
message, its quite hopeless for copying audio CD'S. Firstly, it has
problems with reading audio CD'S, its not as accurate as Exact Audio
Copy is and then you cannot set the offsets of your drive with Nero,
this is a serious shortcoming.

Re: What program is the best for birning music CDS?

2007-10-06 Thread Gary Petraccaro
Pretty much depends on who you hear stuff from. There are only about half a
dozen widely used programs for this any.
Cdrwin, EAC, Nero, Cdex, WMP. They all work well. A couple people here
recommend EAC the most. I've been using Nero from 5 to 7 and only found
problems when my drive was causing them.
Good luck.

RE: What program is the best for birning music CDS?

2007-10-06 Thread albert griffith
When you state the inability to offset drives is, "a serious shortcoming,"
just how serious is this problem? In my evaluation of the program, I've
converted and copied three sets of tracks to disk without benefit of this
feature with Nero and the disk play in a standard CD player just fine.
what's supposed to happen if my drive isn't offset?

2007-10-06 Thread Dane Trethowan
Well you can prove that there's a problem quite easily. Take say a
copy of a CD done with nero and one done by EAC which has been
configured, rip a solid wave file from both, compare the 2 and see
what you get, that's how serious a shortcoming we're talking about
here. The documentation which comes with EAC describes these problems
in detail.

They all perform about the same in quality as the output needs to meet
highly specific industry specifications. for a greater understanding,
check out Burn World at:

Personally, I use either Nero or the CD burning functionality built into
Windows XP.

Indeed, EAC performs an analysis of all the CD drives connected to a system
and creates offsets and individualized profiles for each of those drives.

Well actually, if it comes to just copying Audio CD'S and you want
accurate results all the time then Exact Audio Copy thrashes Nero,
the main reason being that with Exact Audio Copy you can set the
ofsets for your drive, with Nero you can't.

If each copy plays without incident it seems these comparisons only serve
the purposes of giving tech people something to measure. Are there any real

2007-10-07 Thread albert griffith
Ok, as an experiment, I took one of the copies I'd made with Nero and from
it made another. It played fine. I'm still trying to understand what is
the big deal except for some number crunching? Inquiring minds want to
know.

Nero doesn't do continuous tracks. If it did, what would I hear?
Hope I'm not misunderstanding this.

Well you can prove that there's a problem quite easily. Take say a
copy of a CD done with nero and one done by EAC which has been
configured, rip a solid wave file from both, compare the 2 and see
what you get, that's how serious a shortcoming we're talking about
here. The documentation which comes with EAC describes these problems
  in detail.
