Re: WMP 12 jaws 12 in Windows 7
Hey Brian. Well, this is a gigabyte motherboard recommended for audio use. the computer is from studio cat, which is highly recommended by many blind musicians. So it should be good. I will write to gigabyte and tell them about this. And since I'm having other issues. I will also write to studio cat. It is highly likely that some of my other issues are being caused by a faulty external hard drive. I notice that when that drive is turned off, I don't have some of the problems. Re: WMP 12 jaws 12 in Windows 7
Well the reference was actually two learning to use Windows 7, Windows media player 12, on a new computer with jaws 12. Having all kinds of issues and not knowing if they were related to the operating system jaws. The hardware or some combination. I'm finding using jaws with Windows 7. Just a bit frustrating. Windows media player 12 is quite integrated into the operating system. Windows 7, has libraries. Here is the relevant part from the original message. Next I added an external hard drive with all kinds of media and Windows media player went crazy! I repared the library and it still goes crazy. Hi Mark, you could try using the seek slider, which you can quickly move to by pressing ctrl+tab one or two times. Re: WMP Issue
David and Matt, Thanks a Mill for this - using the Seek bar indeed accomplished the task. From looking at the info on the Winamp forum page, the DRM is looking to be the issue. This doesn't surprise me, as I wasn't even able to acquire the license initially, where as in WMP it authorised no problem, which set alarm bells ringing in my mind regarding the Management Rights. Hi Peter, the keyboard shortcuts for WMP are in the help file. Re: wmp 11 menu trouble
Hi, The most common place you get a popup menu is when you're focused on an object and you press the application key to get a shortcut (context) menu. This menu is a popup menu, it's not part of the main window, and only appears when needed. Similarly, if you use the new style main menus in wmp 11, there is no permanent menu displayed, but it appears if you press alt. The outline of burning a cd in wmp 11: 1. press the burn button to move to the burn page. This page has a similar layout to the library page, except that the list pane contains the burn list (which jaws reads as the basket list view!). 2. insert a blank cd. 3. To add items to the burn list: select items in the primary list view, press the application key, and choose add to burn list from the shortcut menu. 4. To burn the cd, press the start burn button at the end of the list pane, or press alt + s. David Bailes. original message- Hi, What do you mean when you say popup menu? I also have the menubar problem, but intermittently. For the most part, I can navigate using WMP 11 the same as version 10. Howeever, I've yet to figure out how to select tracks for ripping - I just cut and paste them from My Music Folders onto the cd drive and select burn to CD option and usually no problems from that point on. I did for awhile have the same problem with CDs stopping 2/3 through the burn process, but I've since cleaned the lense via a disc with tiny brush to wipe over the lense as well as blowing out my entire unit... Re: wmp 11 menu trouble
Hi, So far, I can get around the player fairly well. I just have one stupid problem. It's the menu bar. No matter whether I turn on classic menus or not, the menu bar gets focus and I can't tab around the main interface. neither alt or esc leaves the classic menus - it's best to use the new style popup menu. To leave the popup menu use esc. Also there's a bug when you first open the new style popup menu after logging in: all the keystrokes to navigate around the window stop working. To work round this, press ALT + TAB which closes the menu, and then press alt to open the menu again. And, I can't figure out how to select different albums when I select an artist in the play list It's not as friendly as wmp 10. If you list by artist in the library tree, move to the primary list view and choose an artist, then the songs are grouped by album, but I don't think Jaws reads the album titles. An alternative is to select the album view in the Library tree, go to the search box (ctrl + e), type in the artists name (or first few letters), press down arrow, and you're at the top of the list of albums in the primary list view. (the above search actually matches to text in any of the columns - if you want to ensure it only matches to an artist, type eg, artist:bono. David Bailes. ___ Yahoo! Poor PC Audio quality/was Re: WMP 11 and poor audio quality
Hi again, Since my initial post, I have discovered that *all audio on my husband's PC is of poor quality. So, I guess I am thinking it could be the sound card, the speakers, a setting in Audio HQ or somewhere. Since this happened all at once, I am doubting whether it is the sound card or speakers. So, if anyone has any troubleshooting suggestions, I would be most appreciative. He has a Sound Blaster Live 24 bit card, and is running XP Home SP 2. Try going into volume control, and then to the advanced button of the play control. Check out the bass and treble sliders. It sounds to me like your treble control may be too low. Re: WMP and the seek to slider
I wanted to try using Jaws to move the slider by locking the mouse but I can't get Jaws to actually see the control with the Jaws cursor. I thought it would be possible to set a frame for the slider but how do we do this when we can't see the control? - Original Message - From: Rick Harmon [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: PC audio discussion list. pc-audio@pc-audio.org Sent: Wednesday, October 25, 2006 1:02 PM Subject: Re: WMP and the seek to slider Hi, The slider moves in 1 percent increments. Apparently there is no way to change it unless you could somehow use a mouse to slide the slider. Re: WMP and the seek to slider
Not sure, but even if you could you wouldn't be able to see the time counter to let you know how far your sliding the control. It's a shame that WMP doesn't handle moving by a set amount of seconds when the slider is moved.
