RE: multi track recording

2012-04-16 Thread Rishi D Mack
The good news with ct is that it's verry accessabel with jaws. The cake talking
scripts makes it fully functional with jaws and it's really good. There're
also sounds to indicate sertain things. Like arming tracks, soloing tracks,
muting/unmuting and such like that. Even moving of tracks and switching views
like the bus view, track pain view, mix/custom/caketalking tab. It's really
blind friendly. How ever, there're new vst being developped every day. For
instance, I never seen cake talking work well with autotune. Cuz there wasn't
bscripts built in ct for that. Or edaral vsts. Ither. They're really kind hard
to use unless you can navigate well with your jaws curser. Addictive drums are
the same. I've known blind producers using that vst as well. And they couldn't
get all the kits. How ever, I had a little site. So I had to click to get my
kits then save them as a normal preset. So now when I have to go to them I can
access them easyer.
With JSonar, scripts, they constantly update scripts for it. Like autotune,
edaral, addictive, ny, kvr, and stuff like those vst plugins. I like JSonar.
But for me, I use CT. because I like how the sounds alerts us of different
things. And it let me aware what is going on. Sometimes jaws moves and the
curser doesn't if that make sence. But I think the two of them are grate. But
everyone has different tast. I'd like to get one computer with j sonar and one
with CT. simply because some has things that the other doesn't have. And that
is what makes them unique. Cake talking creates a surface over sonar which some
people says that it's hard for sited to navigate if working on a project with a
blind person. But with JScripts it doesn't. it use the scripting methard and
the sonar basic layout. But if a sited person know what to look for it's not
hard. It surely looks a bit different. But it can be used by sited people.I'm
sited parcially. But I use a screanreader to not strane my eyes too much.. I
hope that maby bill mccan can explain how the sonar works. To you? And if he
could correct me where I'm rong. I mean after all, he'd know about it better
than I do.
And maby those who uses JScripts can help him out too? And explain how that
works too. But like I said, the both of them are good. And it depends on what
your like and what you want and need. I'm gana get the two since I do from
music, to audio production to sound designing. And If anyone knows a good
sampler out there that is accessabel to the blind? Can you please tell me?
Thanks a lot. Hae bill, I have a question for you if you don't mind.but I'd
have to get a private email where I can go with you one on one. Thanks. I hope
this is not against AUDIO-PC mailing list rules. ☺

Re: multi track recording

2012-04-13 Thread Christopher Wright

Try sonar.

get it from

www.dancingdots.com

There are two sets of Jaws scripts available. One is free and the other one
will cost you some money.

The free set of scripts is JSonar.

www.jsonar.org

The one that will cost you money is CakeTalking. That can also be purchased
from Dancing Dots.

For beginning Sonar users, I recommend CakeTalking. It comes with extensive
documentation, written for blind users, built into the product.

Should you choose the Mac route, there's a list for blind Pro Tools users.

You could go with cws which is Cakewalk Sonar, at www.cakewalk.com or audio
pro from www.cakewalk.com as well. And both are accessabel with jaws
scripts. the cake talking scripts works good with sonar. How ever I don't
know if they have for audio pro though. And it's from www.dancingdots.com
and J-Sonar at www.jsonar.org

Most people seem these days to use Sonar along with the JFW scripts for
multi-track. there is something called N-Track, which some reportedly
have used.

Audacity is multi-track and free and there are likely scripts for it.

If you consider the Mac, then Amadeous is said to be accessible.

Yes, it is Multiquence. It is not as accessible as gold wave.
Is he asking about software or a form of accessible hardware such as having
a multitrack digital recorder with built-in speech as they did with rockbox?

2010-04-03 Thread Gary Wood
I'm not sure, but I thought I saw something in town where Protools was
involved with a device that's supposed to be accessible for the blind, and I
thought my friend who showed me this thing said that it was involved with
something called Zoom. I think that he said that you didn't have to use
Protools. A good friend of mine is going to get a Tascam recorder to do
multitrack recording that's been suggested. Hope this helps.

I am a pro, I work in radio these days.
I do have to make recordings on the fly every now and then.
Sometimes, a band will come in to the studio and want to do a recording of
a song that they hope will go to the top of the charts.

So having a Mack Book Pro will allow me to do this.
Sure it can be done with just a plane Mack Book, and or any other
computer, but there are some drawbacks there.

Some advance user controls aren't there in plane sight for you to use.
But a computer that was designed for pros, it puts all of that right there
in your face.

Or if you will, at your thinker tips.
My best regards.

Re: multi track recording

2010-04-03 Thread Dane Trethowan
Protools is a third party application, to my knowledge its much like Cakewalk
and Sonar so if you're not into recording music then its probably not worth
your while buying. Then there's the question of accessibility? Last I heard
Protools - or the latest version thereof - was not accessible with Voiceover at
this time so what are you left with if you want to do multi track recording on
a Mac? As I said in my original reply on this thread, I'm not sure about the
capabilities of Garage Band having not used it myself so people would do well
to point their browsers to http://www.icanworkthisthing.com and read the
tutorials and articles posted by users of Garage Band there.

I do know that if standard or multi track audio recording/editing is what's
required then there's a very good accessible application called Amadeus Pro,
I've been using this software now for 3 years and the developer has been very
receptive to the needs of the users of the software, hence we've had a lot of
accessibility improvements and shortcut key combinations included into the
software over a period of time, thanks to all those who have written to the
developer of the software alongside me with the specific goal of further
enhancing this product.

Amadeus Pro is probably the cheapest accessible multi track audio
recorder/editor on the market at just under $50.00

I wrote about this some time ago on the list and it does what it says it does,
you can record/sequence/arrange/mix multiple tracks of audio and video, having
done that you can send the result out as your Master. You use the Goldwave
Editor to do the editing of the audio tracks, price is cheap enough, I think I
paid $36.00 and its quite accessible with shortcuts to handle most things, a
nice touch to the application is that the "help" screen is launched
automatically as soon as the software is run.

Yes, it allows the removal of crackle and hiss, pops and so on. If you want
you can use additional plug-ins which are built-in to the Mac's operating
system, available on the net or available from third party vendors for purchase.

Hi!

Yep, you get Garage Band as standard with your Mac, I've never used it but
you'll find tutorials on Garage Band at http://www.icanworkthisthing.com
these tutorials have been written by blind users who use a Mac, you'll
find just about everything you'll probably want to ever know about
Voiceover and Iphone up there too! so that's a damn good resource.

As wel as Garage Band you get Quicktime Player, no this application isn't
an editor but it is a sound recorder so you have that to be going on with
at least if you want to record something.

As you know I use a variety of recorders and editors with my Mac, my
favourite recorder would have to be Audio Hijack Pro, records from any app
or any sound device. My favourite recorder/editor would have to be
Amadeus Pro which handles multi track recording/editing too! funny we
should be talking about multi track recording/editing on pc-audio right
now.

Anyway have fun and I'll answer your questions where and if I can, if I
can't answer them then I'll put you in touch with people who can.
