Fwd: Winamp questions

2013-04-02 Thread Johnny Angel

Hi all,

I don't know if anyone of the list saw my post below as I haven't seen a
reply on it yet. So forgive me, but I would like to start learning how
to do some radio ready recordings and jingles of my own. Please, if
anyone knows what the download link might be for WinAmp, (and if anyone
knows which version of WinAmp works the best with NVDA) you can post
your answers off-list to me if you would.

Thank you!

Hi all!

For now, I have two questions for an NVDA user: -- me.

1. Where do I go to download winamp to work with the Shoutcast radio
broadcasting program?

2. Which version will work the best for an NVDA user?

Thank you in advance for helping me get started in radio!

Re: Winamp questions

2013-01-06 Thread Robert Logue

Thanks Barry, for that great set of instructions.

I also just started using Winamp again after a long time away from it.

I'm quite pleased with the library but I wonder if I'm using the best
set of scripts. The set I'm using have no help tips and keyboard
shortcuts for the library.

The scripts I found at: http://www.jfwlite.com/programs.html
WinAmp Scripts or Jaws 7 and greater Updated by Jim Grimsby to add

5. Open Windows Explorer and arrow to a file you wish to insert.

6. Press alt+f for the File Menu.

7. Arrow to Enqueue & Play in Winamp and press enter. This will insert the

I am not aware of any cart machine type plugins for Winamp.

I hope this helps.

Hello fellow pc-audio listers:
I hope that you all have had a nice Christmas and that 2013 will be
good to you.
I wanted to ask you guys about Winamp. I recently downloaded version
5.63, which I've heard is very accessible with Windows xp and Windows
7. However, after listening to a discussion about Winamp on an old
episode of Mainn Menu from the ACB Radio archive, one of the
broadcasters said, that Winamp has a weird querkyness about it. They
said, that When you're playing a long playlist of items, and try to
insert a track into the list, instead of placing the track below the
one that's currently playing, Winamp will instead place the track at
the bottom of the playlist, which may not be where you want it to go.
Being that the episode of Main Menu I listened to goes way back to
April 17 2000, the information I heard might no longer be relevant. For
any of you who use Winamp for either broadcasting and/or personal
listening, is there any way to fix Winamp, so that it will place newly
inserted tracks into their proper place in a playlist? Also, is there a
cart machine plug-in for Winamp, that allows users to play sound
effects and radio station jingles? I know that Station Playlist Studio
can do all of this, but in case I'm not able to get my hands on a copy
of Playlist Studio, I might end up having to use Winamp for
broadcasting. I'm not giving up on getting Studio just yet, but if I
should need to, I'll have to use Winamp as an alternative. Thanks.

I find this is pretty typical behavior when they have a "Pro"version
they want to push. I agree with you, although I don't find the Winamp
page too difficult to navigate, especially now that they've fixed their
download link. That may just be because I've gotten used to it though.

Regarding the Winamp update messages whether they're annoying or not
varies greatly depending on your point of view (smile). I absolutely
love keeping up with the very latest software in most cases so I'm
eager

to keep up with the latest version of Winamp so for me any update
messages from software are always helpful and very welcome. Of course
the other solution to stop these messages is to install the latest
version once you get the update message.

In the latest version of Winamp where are the bookmark raw files
stored.

In older versions I found them in a file called winamp.bm. They don't
seem to be there. I am attempting to transfer my considerable
bookmarks
to a new computer without having to visit every webpage and manually
add

the bookmarks. I would like to avoid this tedious process if possible.
Any information would be appreciated.

In the latest version of Winamp where are the bookmark raw files stored.
In older versions I found them in a file called winamp.bm. They don't
seem to be there. I am attempting to transfer my considerable bookmarks
to a new computer without having to visit every webpage and manually add
the bookmarks. I would like to avoid this tedious process if possible.
Any information would be appreciated.

the only difference i can make out is that to edit the file and have the
changes show up in your bookmarks you have to edit the .bm8 file. just
editing the .bm file doesn't change the list in the bookmarks. open the .bm8
file with note pad just like the .bm file.

replace the owner with what ever you have for your account.

If you Google for "MP3 tags text" you'll get a few options. I don't know
how any of them work or how accessible they are, so you may want to just
wait and see if anyone has any suggestions. If not though, you may want
to give some of these tools a try.

heard any discussion about the relative merits of the scripts for each
Screen reader when using Winamp.

Winamp questions

2010-06-20 Thread Donald L. Roberts
I would like to know if there is some means of copying all mp3 tag
info for each track in a playlist to a text file. Although my primary
screen reader is Window-Eyes 7.2, I also have a JFW demo on my system.
So if there is a way to do this without manually copying the info for
each track, please tell me the procedure.

The next question is a long shot but worth a try. Although a lot of
people want gapless track playing, I want the opposite because I copy
some play lists to mini disc, and a 2 to 3 second pause between tracks
is necessary to place the mark for a new track. So, I want to know if
it is possible to cause Winamp to delay the playing of each track for
two seconds or so.

Lastly, someone else asked a question recently as to how to auto tag
multiple files. I too want to know how to do this. I know how to
auto tag individual files but not multiple files.

Thanks in advance for ideas.

Question 1. Is there any way to cause the Window-Eyes script for Winamp

Question 2. Will the Audio Stocker plug in work with the current

Question 3. What is the most recent version of Winamp which can run on a

Thanks.

I have played my music files using Winamp for years but only
now have decided to use the playlist editor. Could someone
please provide specifics as to how to use the playlist
editor, preferably using Window Eyes, but using Jaws is okay
as I also have a demo of Jaws 10 on my computer.

If anyone on this list is using the Window Eyes Winamp
scripts, please tell me whether Winamp lite will work with
those scripts. That is presently the version I am running,
however the scripts are not working for me, so perhaps I
need to uninstall the lite version and install Winamp full.

I have both Jaws and Wineyes so instructions using either screen reader
including scripts are appreciated.

I wish to play all files in a particular folder using Winamp. However, I
wish to play these files in the proper numeric sequence, ie. 01, 02, 03 etc.
Just how do I do this? If I just put all in the cue, the files do not play
in the proper order.

Next, what is the procedure to get the aggregate playing time for all mp3
files in a given folder?
These are all constant bit rate, so I would assume that what procedure I
should follow will yield accurate results.

Thanks.

Hi List,
I'm having a problem with Winamp 5.21 not playing all tracks on a CD.
Maximizing the window didn't seem to fix the problem. How can I have the
titles of songs be displayed? I also have instructions for setting global

it didn't work correctly. Is there a particular skin that needs to be
selected? I'm using Window-Eyes 5.
