Re: Question about recording Live365 streams.
Hi all, I doubt it, unless the person's sound card supports a feature similar to Stereo Mix. This is where Total Recorder and Replay A/V at least comes into its own; you do not need a card with this feature to record sound card output; just use the special drivers that come with the software and it just works. What about splitting your files manually? These days I'm on Mac more than windows, but I think MP3 Direct Cut would work for you. You can record, edit and split MP3s. Re: Question about recording Live365 streams.
Good idea Larry, but say I leave TotalRecorder recording 6 hours... I'll have about a 700Meg MP3 file created. I would need to open it up in TotalRecorder and manually place split points at the start and end of each track. Split them up and hope I know the artist name and title to edit them properly. Would take weeks to do. Has to be one program on the market that works with JAWS 11.0.146 that will record Live365 streams and split the file according to changes in stream info. Re: Question about recording Live365 streams.
Yes, I've tried that and TotalRecorder 8.1, but they both record the stream as one huge file. Guess Live365 is sending the stream info in a format they don't recognize to split the file into tracks. I found a program called MP3VCR, but the creator hasn't updated it lately and it also no longer recognizes the track info for splitting the file. Was hoping someone on the list knew of another way to do this? Yes, I've tried TR 8.1, but it records the stream as one huge audio file. It doesn't seem to recognize the track info for automatically splitting the file. Re: Live365 Player
Good evening Marsha and list. If you have had the opportunity to examine the layout of the Live365 web site you will notice the player is launched when you choose a specific broadcast stream by pressing the Enter key on the click to listen hyperlink. As for shortcuts, I have not discovered any hotkeys, either documented or undocumented. However, I am pretty facile with JAWS web navigation methods such as links macros and navigation by tables and search edit boxes. A fun way to discover new stations is to search for a station that plays. You can specify artist, title, or genre including sub genre. If you have a VIP membership which costs $71.40 annually, you can build a library of station presets of which I have 20 and counting. I'm glad you're enjoying Live365. I just wish I had the means to make it portable. HTH. Re: Trouble Launching Live365 Player
Good evening. I promised you a follow up posting to update you on progress with finding a solution to enable me again to launch Live365 player without needing to hold down the control key, so here it is. I am happy to report that removing 5 or 6 tool bars has done the trick, which leads me to conclude that at least one of them has a hidden popup blocker in its design. Having removed that many, I don't know which one it is, but I know if the problem reoccurs I will know to look for tool bars. Unfortunately, my office laptop is a different story as I mentioned in my original posting. In looking again there was only an Ask tool bar whichI removed but it made no difference and even holding down the control key still doesn't launch the Live365 Player, so I'm stumped on that one. Please pass along any other suggestions. BTW, thanks to Tom Kaufman for commending this solution. Re: Live365 and having to register???
yes, I think you described the current state of affairs. to listen to Live365, one must register at the site, similar to registering at a newspaper website in order to read that particular paper. when you register, you can choose the preferred media player to listen to Live 365 stations, such as winamp. once you register, Live 365 places a cookie on your computer so your registration information is obtained automatically. some audio streams do this to track listenership, as royalty payments are based on how many listeners are listening to a particular song and how long they listen to the song. We have bill Clinton to thank for this scheme as he signed the digital Millennium copyright Act. also, aggregated listener information allows for better selling of airtime to advertisers.
